The Chris Smoove Controversy 

The worst types of players in 2k, Madden, FIFA etc are people who play the game rather than the sport. Everyone looks for the meta, abuses it, breaks the game and then blames the developers. And because there are so many people that abuse the game everyone else has to fall in line to even attempt to have fun at the game. The fact people saw Smoove talking about this exact dilemma and decided to clown him are so unaware of why the games suck its sad lmao. LSK wasn't wrong at all and he wasn't disrespectful imo but he and Smoove are having different conversations, Smoove isn't saying players are "bad" at the game he’s just saying they don't play actual basketball and its wild people can't admit this lmfao

Chris is one of the earliest and greatest 2K youtubers ever. There's a reason he has a big and loyal fanbase following him, catchphrases and all. While these "influencers" started screaming at their mics and playing park and rec only trying to find the meta, Smoove was already playing MyCareer and MyTeam at least 8 years before, in the 2k10 days. He deserves respect, because his fanbase grew up on his videos and he stayed interesting and chill. I can add Shakedown to it too

It's mainly the ''Dribble Gods'' complaining about this..OG Smoove spoke nothing but facts and they hurt about it.

My friends and I recently got into playing online and we’ve been having the same issue fr. Basketball is the most beautiful sport we have today and there’s so much nuance in it to make it that way, so when we load into 2K and try playing basketball and instead meet dribble gods, mfs that are greening spinning fadeaway 3’s, and cherrypickers, all of them having the same exact animations equipped because it’s “meta” just hurts fr. Like if I wanted to play a game where people abuse metas I’d play a shooter game or something, I just want to play basketball bc it’s like 9 PM and we’re all so far away now bc of college, but whenever we do it’s 6’9 PGs that are outrebounding our 7 footers and then contact dunking on them then can hit a half courter or a 7’0+ center that’s getting driving contact dunks while being able to dribble like Kyrie and AI had a fusion dance

The whole dribbling community is so sensitive they are the most sensitive group on the 2k community they cry when ever a build is better they think they are the most skilled players ever then but then complain that every other build doesn’t have skill but then sit around in there lobby’s trying to find every other build to find roll players then complain when they sell the team cause there spam dribbling isn’t consistent

I think this is a symptom of the larger in issue in mainstream online gaming of finding the meta, abusing and breaking it and complaining to devs all year long. Shit is getting tiring man

People have complained for years about shooting in 2K, as one example. Smoove has called out the people whining consistently in the last handful of years.. But I would be willing to bet that a lot of the whiners don't play 2K much. It's easier to put work on the devs' end than it would be for a player to improve, I suppose. And it sucks to see Smoove get dragged into something that he shouldn't have to deal with. Those folks that fuss just complain for the sake of complaining. "I can't make shots" has been a constant thing devs are told. And the devs can only do so much at the end of the day.

I’m sorry anyone who thinks that 2k shouldn’t be based on real basketball as much as they can is looking for an entire different game than me and I just wish there was some competition for 2k so they couldn’t cater to all of the annoying children desperately looking for any way to win a 2k game no matter what bullshit cheesy way they have to play. 2k24 seems better but I’m not getting my hopes up

I just played a few games in the rec...I can literally stand in the corner wide open for 20 seconds and then watch the spam dribbler go up for a contested shot 6 out of 10 possessions in the game. I completely get what Smoove is saying.

Smoove is 100% correct this is why playnow online is my favorite mode it’s the most honest competition in the game. No boosts, no overpowered players, spamming almost non existent it’s just down to who’s the better 2k player 💯

I think the biggest thing everyone is failing to understand about what Chris smoove is ultimately suggesting is to simply buff the defense. We keep talking about offense offense offense when we don’t talk about defense. The reason why 2k16,2k17 was the “glory days” is because of the fact that there was variety in gameplay. 2k is now made to where it defeats the purpose to be unique because if you’re spamming and scoring everytime of course you’re going to do it. That’s why with GMAN in 2k20 talked about play take so much about being trash because you could only snatch back to get animations. Ik I talked about 2-3 different games but the point I’m trying to make is that all the “good 2ks” defense was at least decent. Don’t believe me? Think about your favorite 2k and think about why you like it so much.

The defense isn’t that great to me in 2k23. Outside of the steals being OP in the beginning you just don’t feel that good on defense like it’s don’t have that rewarding feeling of locking someone up. I do find it funny that a few of the dribble heads are upset about the pro play due to the dribbling going more to the realism part

I play MyLeague local and MyLeague local only. Online for any sports game is completely buggered because the developers barely put effort into the offline modes anymore to begin with. If the developers aren't bothering to check if anything actually works it's not surprising that people are realizing you can take advantage of lazy programming and just spam dribble till you win. I play what I enjoy and what I know works well and isn't frustrating. It's a game yall.

If somebody made a video showing how to abuse a exploit they would get shit on and they wouldn't be respected AT ALL. 2K has been babysitting and encouraging these cheeses for so long that it's seen as normal.
