I appreciate the opportunity to share my understanding about my denomination and I would love to have more interviews on other denominations/associations/congregations.

Raised and baptized by immersion in the disciples of Christ. The simple and sincere education has served me well.

Sometimes the clergy live in their own bubble and think laypeople follow their theological trends. How common is universalism among DOC laymen? Among non-White Pastors and leaders? Most Black, Asian and Hispanic Disciples are very traditional in their views.

Do you believe you need to be baptized for salvation? Then read Romans 10:9-10

The Nicene Creed is the statement of faith. How simple can you get? I’m sorry, but the title of this says “Christian Church.” What is The Church if it isn’t Christian?

Appreciate the candidness. This denomination is decreasing in membership fast and might go away altogether. In my view it is because of having to and wanting to take a stance on conservative vs. liberal political issues. They went decidedly liberal. Also, Christians need the Apostle’s and Nicene Creeds. There is nothing Calvinistic in them. It’s like they went too far in going the other direction away from historic Presbyterianism (Calvinism.) It’s way too late now, though; the dam has burst and what they teach at their seminaries are higher criticism and the social gospel.

How could Christians “need” things that were unavailable to Christians in the NT era?
@RAJohns
@RAJohns Год назад
@@PUAlum Interesting that was the part of my small treatise you chose to ask a question about. There is a real need for doctrine in the Church. About the first century, they didn’t have the New Testament either, but that didn’t mean they didn’t need it. They also had the gifts. It takes years to get out of persecution, to be able to meet to formulate a consensus. I’m saying an oral affirmation of faith of what basic Christianity is, what the New Testament is relating to us, does more good than harm. It does good by providing a boundary to heretical beliefs by those entering in the fellowship, who would deny the virgin birth, or deny Jesus really died on the cross, or deny the Resurrection or deny He is the Son of God. In fact, it’s imperative upon the Church to say these things, because of it’s responsibility against ignorance. Also, this boundary is a buffer against “Pastors and Chuches Gone Wild.” Texe Marrs.

All churches in America are seeing a decrease in membership and attendance. Catholic, protestant denominations, conservative churches, and liberal ones.

@@JNeil1975 Yeah but Disciples of Christ has been declining harder than most. After they decided that practicing LGBTQ members were allowed to be AFFIRMED in their sin, that was all she wrote. At that point there's no reason why you shouldn't have pastors who are openly in swinger relationships, or any other sinful lifestyles CLEARLY expressed in the Bible. The first Christian church I attended after converting to Christianity was Disciples of Christ and it was wonderful. This was one year before the LGBTQ decision.

Independent Christian Church/ Church of Christ is way more conservative, we believe the Bible is the inherint word of God unlike the Disciples of Christ which can be openly interpreted without any regard of the consequences of that.

This church needs to turn back to the Bible , to let the Bible be your guide . Traditions of men is not the way to go.

Excuse me but universal reconciliation was taught by most Christians for the first five centuries of the church and there was plenty of scripture to back up the reconciliation viewpoint.

The only church of Jesus came to nothing in the 4th century as the book Nazarene Jewish Christianity confirms. Read just the cover, description and buyers comments to convince anyone. Pair this with Acts chapter 5 33-39 and it proves Yeshua was not the Messiah.
