Dr Sam Williams took the tech and turned it in to Williams International. Still around and makes turbine jet engines for light business jets down to cruise missile cruise engines. Been there 7 years.
In early 1966 when I was a junior in high school I saw one of these on the road in Conneaut Lake, PA. A couple minutes after that I saw an Amphicar heading down the boat ramp into the lake. I've seen neither since.
I've almost become obsessed with revitalizing the turbine engine in cars with some heavy modern advancements. Personally I'd go more in the vein of power generator and electric motor route, but the ability to fuel them with anything that burns and really take advantage of 'waste' heat to optimize usable power. One of these days when I get a lump of free time, oh yes, it'll be a grand voyage indeed. I love the idea of this car, and it was an interesting stepping stone in automotive history, but far ahead of its time unfortunately. I've never seen one outside of a museum, but I'd love to get inside of one for study.
ummm not accelerating well diesel without turbo in 2000 had no acceleration without wind ? complicated ? diesel with common rail from 2000 is more complicated!
