After telling women for 100 years that they don't have the priesthood and shouldn't want it, they are now telling women that they already have the priesthood. It is just me or is this simply bizarre behavior?

I’ve come to the conclusion that women exist in Mormonism to facilitate the exaltation of men. We are ultimately still objects and possessions to prove the value of the man.

She was TOTALLY reading what someone wrote for her. I'm sure ALL talks had to be approved by a priesthood holder. I went to a non denominational Christian church where they blessed a couple of kids I know. Everyone participated by coming close and everyone putting their hands on the person in front of them until it went ALL the way to the kid being blessed. I thought it was really cool and moving. They didn't ask you if you were worthy.

I am a Rigdonite Mormon. We never took this from our women like the Brighamites did.

The issue is complicated and interesting but it's extremely deceptive to write " women had the priesthood" when they didn't. They simply participated largely.

The New Testament tells of women who were ordained as deaconess (eg. Romans 16:1, 1 Timothy 3:11). In the Old Testament Deborah was the prophetess and leader of Israel (Judges 4 and following) All over Utah there are Relief Society buildings built next to the chapels. Even today, You can touch them and read the signs over their doors. Men met in the Chapel, Women met in the Relief Society building, presided over by women.

The Bottom Line..... Does Heavenly Mother hold The Priesthood. If not, then women clamouring after it is simply an effort to impose on core, closely held religious beliefs. (THIS is why, in part, The LDS Church fought the ERA so hard.)

This is a bit misleading, it doesn't cover what the women of the period believed they were doing in these instances. It uses this missing information, and the similarity of these events to modern priesthood ordinances to suggest that something has been lost. Therefore one should cry for justice and equality. In reality nothing has been taken away, just they way it is done has changed shape.

Just say you want women to have the priesthood which is anti scripture and move on. The genders are the most different parts of society and hence are subject to different expectations. Debate me
