The CIRCE SAGA Was Not What I Was Expecting... 

I should probably make a comment for this One of my mods and the comments section have now given me a new playlist to use for the saga's therefore we shouldn't have anymore half animatics or cut off's :)

Lol nobody reacting to these ever trusts Hermes but like, Hermes is legitimately just a silly little guy who drops in to give mortals boons just to see what they do with them. He's like the less duplicitous version of Aeolus in Ocean Saga. He's just here to vibe and watch the show(and pester Circe by proxy). I love Hermes, he's a delight, and the only divinity in the whole first act who genuinely has no hostility or aggression toward Ody and the crew at any point. He's not super invested in anything except having a fun time and he is having /such/ a fun time.

Explaining some of the things you were confused about: Circe is considered a very powerful witch in Epic (I think) She turns men into pigs because she has very bad experiences with strange men on her island. These things include r@pe of her and her nymphs. She turns them into pig to protect her nymphs from this. Hermes is rather trustworthy in Greek mythology due to how common it is for him to help out heroes. The last two songs were the demos and incomplete songs, try watching anniflamma 's animatics for them.

Hermes helped Odysseus for two primary reasons that aren't covered in the musical: namely that Hermes is both Odysseus' great-grandfather *and* Circe's ex-boyfriend, so by helping Odysseus he gets to both help his grandson *and* stick it to his ex.

Basically the last two animatics weren't the complete songs. They were made when there were only small snippets of them. You should check the animatics by anniflamma!

So fun fact about Epic! The background instruments and vocals are EXTREMELY important! Most of the time when background vocals are present, they're being sung by actual characters such as the crew for Storm, or the Lotus Eaters in Open Arms. The Gods, however, express their power by creating their OWN background vocals. Also, anytime Synthetic instruments are present, there is danger in the song.

The lil smooch from Hermes at the end of the second song always sends me, I love Hermes! Not that I'd ever *fully* trust a god (especially since he IS just there for the drama), but eh. I'm weak to a good bop~ 😂You DEFINITELY need to see Gigi's updated/completed animatic for "Other Ways" that was released 6 days ago! There's a lot missing in the short version. Namely, there's a section that gets you ready for the Underworld Saga, which I'm SUPER hyped to see you react to!

Hermes is that NPC that shows up before a boss battle in a lot of greek stories. Lol

okay time for some ✨Backstory✨ Circe is the daughter of the sun god Helios and a water nymph. she was banished to the island and at first happily greeted all the men who landed there but after constantly being taken advantage of she started to believe all men are pigs(side note notice the food that was brought to the men included a roasted pig) and she gathered a bunch of other disgraced/unwanted/banished women(mostly minor goddesses and nymphs) and made it a sanctuary for them. as a way to protect them she turns men into pigs. There isn't anything I can explain about what you're missing because all of the context is in the full songs, lol. I sincerely recommend you rewatch other animatics for 'Done For' and 'There are Other Ways', because you missed the entire set-up for 'There are Other Ways', and you re _going_ to be missing the entire set-up for the Underworld Saga

I think the last 2 Gigi animatics were from demos or clips, not the full songs. The 3rd song was almost finished, but there was a a part skip at the end. And for the last song, you’re missing half of it. The animatics done by Anniflamma have the full songs for done for and there are other ways.

To clear up your confusion, the flower Molly (Moly?) itself isn't really dangerous when you hold it, it is only deadly for mortals to pluck themselves, but gods plucking them have no problem. Circe was confused as to how Odysseus was still fine while still having the flower, and then while Odysseus was bluffing that "he was also a god", she realized an actual god (Hermes) was the one that gave it to him and that's why Odysseus was fine

'Puppeteer' is a metaphor. It's meant to communicate that she is not the actor on the stage (aka the puppet) but the puppet controlling them behind the scenes. She is powerful enough she can control the outcomes of things herself rather than being tossed around by fate and external circumstances. 'Not afraid to send a message' isn't bougie, it's meant to clue the audience in on the fact that this is Hermes, the messenger god and of the gods. It's pronounced sir-see. Also calling Hermes a demigod is hilarious since he is in fact so much of a god he is one of only 12 of the many Greek gods who are god enough to live on Mount Olympus. But yes, as the others said those were not full versions of the last two songs

As a word of advice, you should avoid reacting to animatics that are more than a year old, because the animatics you reacted to for 'Done For' and 'There are Other Ways' were made before the full songs released (they should be 4 months old). For the Underworld Saga, the animatics you should look for are 2 months old or newer

To clarify. The last two animatics that you watched were incomplete. Months before Jorge-Herrans Rivera (Jay for short) released the "Circe Saga", he released snippets of the songs as teasers. A lot of artists like Gigi or WolfyWitch used those snippets and made "incomplete" animatics. There are a couple of artists who did make animatics using the complete song. I can't recall their usernames at the moment but the other comments will likely tell you. So if you want to understand what's going on you should go and watch/ listen to the completed songs. Up next after this saga is the "Underworld Saga" which released a couple months ago so you might have a hard time finding a lot of animatic options. Just so you know, the Underworld Saga marked the end of the first act for "Epic the Musical". And next week on July 4th, 2024. Jay will release the fist saga to the second Act of the musical called "The Thunder Saga". Now for context in the story. In Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus is on his way home after the Greek and Trojan war. At this point in the original tale, Odyssues had already passed through many things. Notably, after encountering the cyclops polyphemous, the clyclops cursed him saying he would never be able to get back home and that he'd lose everything he loved. This marks the point where the curse is coming true as he lost his men to Posiden, and almost lost some to Circe. In the original story he's stuck on Circe's island for over a year. The only reason he survived is because the messenger god Hermes, helps him out. (Side note: In the myths it is known that Hermes is technically Odysseus' grandfather) )Another sidenote: Hermes is one of the 12 Olympians). When he finally leaves Circe's island he ventures out to the underworld to see if he can undo Polyphemus' curse. Now Jay took a different approach. First, the cyclops didn't curse Odysseus but posiden is still constantly hot on his tail and does everything to make his life hell. Second, it appears that the crew is only on Circe's island for 1 day. At the end of the Saga, Circe helps Odyssues by referring him to a prophet that is currently in the underworld. So you need the full song to understand that. And it's not explicitly said in the musical but Jay put an easter egg in this Saga. One of Odyssues' men dies in this Saga but it's never really touched upon. I highly recommend you watch Jorge-Herrans videos. He explains a lot of the context, explains different motifs, and makes you excited for upcoming songs!

First animatic is my FAVORITE atm. Also, Hermes is such a fun character and i think he shows us how the gods find heroes to be mostly entertainment. Third and fourth vid weren't the finished songs..

Hermes is the one of few gods that wouldn't ask for anything back. Hermes in particular as he is also the god of thief's, so come to your own conclusion here. Also, a "fun"-fact: Hermes is not only the messenger of the gods, but he also delivers the souls of the dead to the Underworld.

Great video, i would LOVE for you to react to the full songs though. I know Annaflamma has a full animatic for both "Done For" and "There are other ways". I also believe Gigi just made a full "There are Other Ways" animatic. I LOVE Gigi's Animatics, and especially their Circe depiction, so i may be biased, but i highly recommend choosing Gigi when possible! I would also love to see you react to a different animatic for "Luck Runs Out" as the one you watched was a WIP version of the song and does NOT do it justice ! And i guess this is a good time to bring it up. Your voice reminds me of Pat from PopularMMOs! I love it! I really cant wait to watch your next reactions. I do believe i saw at least one or two animatics for "No Longer You" which im so happy about as i feel its underated!

I doubt ill say anything somebody else hasnt said, but for example the kill count was 7 by the cyclops and 11 boats of 50 men from posieden gives us the 47 left from 600, then in the circle saga one man dies that nobody notices that gives use the 558 dead men in the underwrold saga (since i see youve already reacted to it).
