The Clarisonic is, arguably, the first beauty tool (other than the SoniCare Toothbrush) that feels like an absolute necessity. I've personally owned one for almost seven years now, and although we have had our ups and downs, I can say that it's back to being a part of my daily regimen.
Admittedly, I stopped using my last year for a variety of reasons. I felt like it was too aggressive for my skin and that I didn't need to exfoliate as often as I had been; my skin was turning ruddy, to the point that a dermatologist thought I had Rosacea. Cutting out the every day exfoliating made a huge difference, but I felt like I didn't have the glow I used to.
That said, I visited the Clarisonic factory in Seattle this year and met with Dr. Robb, the man behind the device, who provided me with a slew of facts that blew my mind. Most importantly? The Clarisonic is not an exfoliating device! Yes, it's a brush, so it's easy to associate it as one, but it's not meant to exfoliate the skin. Just like the SoniCare Toothbrush deeply cleans your teeth, the brush is meant to deeply clean your skin. Next? I was using an aggressive, exfoliating face wash, which was totally unnecessary for the brush. And I was also going HAM with the device, using it morning and evening. Once I changed the face wash I used with my Clarisonic (along with how much I was applying to the brush head), as well as wetting the brush thoroughly, I noticed a drastic improvement in my skin! Also? the brush head matters. I was using the normal brush head, but it was too aggressive for me. Switching to the Luxe Cashmere Cleanse option really did wonders for my skin.
Check out 10 mistakes you're making with your Clarisonic, and let me know in the comments any tips or tricks you have.

I always remove my makeup before I cleanse my skin with my clarisonic. I think that a double cleanse is what helps keep your skin looking it's best and keeps the makeup from getting down in my brush heads and down under the brush head. Even if you don't have a clarisonic, remove your makeup before actually cleaning your skin....hope this helps someone else. I have done it for years.

Honestly I've had the same brush head for 11 months. No breakouts and the bristles are still abrasive. All you need to do is wash and disinfect it. I change mine once a year. That whole change it 3 months is pure marketing. For toothbrushes I understand because they are more brittle. I have the first generation Clarisonic Mia so I don't know if their brush quality has changed. Save your pennies and buy groceries.

@@asmaamarokina23 ive had my brush going strong for 6 months now ( I have the Mia2 ) and I rinse it with water after use then take a regular pump of a good quality hand soap and rub it on the brush for a good 30 seconds, and I'll rise it all off and dry the clarasonic - especially the bristles altho lightly. Personally I hate to leave the brush wet overnight cause it takes too long to dry on it's own. Hope this is helpful:)

You forgot to mention the fact that many people are being too vigorous with their clarisonic. I've seen many times people swivelling their machine on their skin over and over as if the machine is just there for decoration and "you're meant to work that hard". I get really annoyed at that cuz the machine is already spinning/vibrating so fast you don't need to overstimulate your face like that. That's also why people get breakouts, their brushing their faces too hard and too much stimulation. Like the Official Clarisonic video says, you gently hold it against your face and SLOWLY move it around your skin. Trust me, your skin will hate you if your washing your face like you would wash your windows lol >

Hi. I just got my first Clarisonic. And you said it spins/vibrates. Is that why the brush head when taken off can spin. But when I use it I don’t see any spinning or am I doing something wrong

To tell the truth i chickened out 3 times with clarisonic after i had breakouts. But this last time i made a promise to myself to hold on for a month. And actually after less than 2 weeks my breakouts stopped and now i only get one or two pimples occasionally. I use clarisonic with it's refreshing cleanser, then i aply Dior one essential serum and then Charlotte Tilbury's magic cream. After i started this routine 1-2 times a day my skin significantly cleared in like 2 months.

I am so excited that I finally got a Clarisonic/Mia2 for Christmas! I've been wanting one for years. I follow a a morning and evening skincare routine like everyone should and the only thing I found missing was a Clarisonic. I will be so excited to share with my Dermatologist's Assistant that I finally got a Clarisonic! She highly recommends a Clarisonic to her patients. I already have awesome skin, but the Clarisonic will definitely improve my skin even more. I always do a ton of research before and after a product is purchased, but also watch fun RU-vid videos. I can't wait to use my Mia2! The only product that I use daily and at night that I wouldn't use with a Clarisonic is my Obagi Vitascrub. That would definitely be too abrasive. I use Cerave face wash in the morning and it would go great with my Mia2. I am a HUGE freak about my teeth, skin, and body that I definitely wouldn't have any issues keeping the system semi-sterile. Get your own brush head if you want to share with me. Lol! Any other suggestions for a new user?

Clarisonic is the best thing I did for my skin. I wish I started earlier in high school! For the first 3 weeks of use I started peeling and such but for almost 2 years now I very rarely get cystic acne! I'm gonna start using it on the neck and chest now too because of the recommendation! My fav is the acne brush but I'm thinking of trying the others now.

I received mine for Christmas, and sadly, it's going back. It makes my skin feel sunburned. I have the sensitive head, I don't use any pressure at all, use it precisely as the directions state, and it still makes my face burn like crazy! I kept thinking, "Okay... maybe this will pass..." It's been about six weeks, and it hurts today like it did the first day. I don't get the hype for this thing.
@cannsmith
@cannsmith 7 лет назад
SmittenKitten if you have sensitive or delicate skin the clarisonic is not for your skin. The labels of the brush heads are also misleading the softest is the cashmere lux followed by radiance and acne; the delicate and sensitive brushes are quite abrasive.

Check out the vanity planet spin brush. Lots of youtubers have been sponsoring it and give details about it. Plus its ALOT cheaper than the clarisonic ($30 with the discount codes people give as compared to $100 for the cheapest clarisonic) and does the same exact thing. Plus it comes with different heads to switch out. I don't have it personally, but what I liked about it is that one of the brush heads is silicone which means bacteria doesn't cling to it. I just wish the Clarisonic company would bring out one like that. xx

If you are on prescription treatments and topical creams, I wouldn't really recommend the Clarisonic. Those treatments (such as Accutane and Epiduo) will dry out the skin on their own. I know this from experience. If you were to use the Clarisonic alongside those treaments, you would more than likely irritate your skin and cause yourself so much pain. You are still so young, please be kind to your skin and be careful with the things you use on it. Also it is best to listen to your dermatologist!

That's how they do it at spas. No i'm not joking. Barbicide does not damage your skin. Barbicide is used to sanitize all tools in the beauty world. Including clarisonics, the multifunction machine, and regular brushes used to apply the different stuff that goes on the skin. I'm an esthetician, and the brushes we had and used on everyone were in great condition and my skin is fine. Barbicide kills literally everything. Look it up.
@cannsmith
@cannsmith 7 лет назад
Actually the barbicide does need to be washed off before use it's also safer to sterilize it, but it would be much cheaper just to buy a extra brush head instead of hundreds on a sterilizer

You probably don't need this tool for acne. What you use on your face (or what you eat) has a lot to do with your acne. after I used Shieido brand, my acne is gone! I stop using skin care that is made in USA, because FDA doesn't ban bad chemicals used inside the products, I now usually buy brand from Japan or Europe is better, less chemicals! Chemicals make skin worst!!

You should have that mole looked at on your neck. Even if it is not cancerous they tend to become over time when they are that large. Better to remove it now and play it safe. Plus you will look nicer without it. It is very noticeable and not in a good way.
@rosequeen4810

You don’t blink. Also skin isn’t like teeth it has a million little holes which we call pores. To have good skin we don’t need to scrub it we need to not use make up all the time and remove make up every time we use it, use a good cleansing routine. If u really want a brush get a vanity planet and save half the money. It’s just a product to remove dirt nothing special, not like a toothbrush as we don’t eat with our face and our skin is soft and made of layers and layers of very thin skin which can be damaged by over using one of these , so that analogy is not correct.
