Amazing band, never pretending to be anything but themselves. Totally loyal to their fans and did not stray from what works. The greatness is seeded forever.
The Clash were a brilliant band but let's not forget most of us felt, of all the bands around at the time, they blatantly sold out for the dollar and stadium rock.
@@superpotiron He wrote Rock the Casbah (the music) and played bass and piano on it as well as the drums. So yes, he is the most talented musician. :-)
Nick could do it all...him and Stewart Copeland were the 2 best drummers of the "punk rock" genre. You get a drummer like Nick or Stewart in the driver's seat and there is nothing you can't achieve musically.
@@andylowe1517 Yes he was and still is. He's very animated behind the, lotsa fun to watch, and he hits hard, has rock solid timing and great chops. He's one of my faves...I like Bun E Carlos as well, he's the American Ringo.
@@thewhoman3182 Why posers? John Lydon invented punk, in my opinion But I know band such as the stooges had a lot to do with it too but the sex pistols were the first to break in the scene without being perfect musicians and putting their energy on the stage
@@thewhoman3182 'I like' the Clash - to me not one of those bands you simply like - they were a truly great band and I was lucky enough and old enough to see them 3 times - you stick with the Who rehashing their back catalogue for the millionth time...
@@lejlatiric7037 The Sex Pistols where definitely not the first Punk band but they were a part of the first official wave of punk bands. The Stooges where a big influence on the punk genre howevr they weren't a punk band they where A Garage rock band that was a heavy influence on the genre we know today. other bands influenced this and are now seen as "Proto-punk" bands associated with this term includes The Stooges, MC5, The Velvet Underground, Patti Smith etc...
The Clash are on frikken FIRE here! SO glad they came to scuzzy old Christchurch NZ back in '82, where I got to see them at the town hall. Such a buzz - still unequaled to this day!
I was at that concert too. It was awesome. Never forgotten the buzz. We can be grateful to RDU for organising a petition to get them to come to scuzzy old ChCh, as originally we weren't even on their radar.
Christchurch is not scuzzy.(never been there,) Loved someone from there a lot Pull your pants up and get on with it. Why would they stop and play there, if there wasn’t an audience They are unequal to others Much love to a clash fan in the southern hem. x
One of those few times I can say 'I was there'. Great gig, brilliant band. Lewisham Odeon, biggest and best auditorium South of the River, and they pulled it down...
@@joegibel9944 nobody asked you to listen. Personally I wouldn't listen to something I didn't like n feel someone was lecturing... or listen to them ever again. For seemingly communist lecturers they fckn loved alot about America. Just knew their governments are war mongering pricks. Don't need to be a communist to know that.
Growing up in New Zealand and lovin* the clash I can still remember this footage being shown on a late night music show called radio with pictures , I was 17 at the time , London calling hadn’t been out that long , it was a special time in music history, it’s funny how some things stay strong in your memory .
+Alastair Thomson Seen the best band in the world five times.....first time on London Calling tour in Leeds in 1980.....the most explosive band EVER......also invited into dressing room by Joe and smoked a good portion of his weed.............what a fucking band...what a fucking man.....
Just 283,000 views at the time of writing. It should really be 283 million. This is it everyone, peak live performance. Nothing gets better than this. This actually makes me cry
0:34 That's how a PunK gig should always look like! No fucking cellphones, 3-5 PunKs on stage and a bunch of PunKs going crazy listening to that powerful PunK song like the Clampdown, how can this be so fucking strong? PunK will definitely never die, 2020 and forever!
@@brianjones6613 ain’t seen the Beatles would love to. We did McCartney at Birmingham in 2015. He rocked. Unlike Dillon in Liverpool who lived up to his reputation of being fickle.
Brilliant song from a great band from way back when music was original and unique! Love The Clash! Saw them several times, including that R.A.R. GIG! ICONIC.
Between 76 and 85 l went on tour with these Amazing guys practically non stop, saw them in the region of 150- 160 times, lm paying for it now with severe arthritis in my knees lol all that pogoing!!!
Lewisham and The Clash two things that became part of my life forever. Bank robber video also shot here, where new old bill shop is across road. Make you're heart bleed.Sadly missed Joe. Working Class been sold out at such a rate you wouldnt believe the half of strokes being pulled. saw Clash three times met Mick. Within feet of Joe. Best band in world never be another Clash.
The greatest band ever. I am so pissed I was not around to see this fantastic group live. 'The real deal'. Too many damn phonies today. I now see a lot of people dressing punk, a lot of talk but little to back it up. ❤️
Saw them in the late 70s at west runton pavillion..77 i think with slits, buzzcocks, subway sect..prob a few more..they were filmed by don letts at the gig. Id love to see it..
Yeah thats right, they were so happy this night when they came on for the second encore they did requests that we shouted out,i never see that before or after this gig again
