My headcanon regarding these two is that Splatter and Dodge were being trialed during the events of Magic Railroad before they were both sent back to the Other Railway for association with Diesel 10’s confusion and delay. In my own Thomas AU, though, they’re British Railway shunters who later came to Sodor alongside their cousins Sidney and Paxton. The “Splodge” duo currently reside at the Ironworks; while Sid/Pax reside at the Dieselworks
Splatter and Dodge have been utterly robbed of their planned reappearances in the show. Such a shame the both of them and Diesel 10 weren’t given anything major to do after Magic Railroad.
I wish we got more of Splatter and Dodge. The duo of sarcastic incompetent henchmen is a favorite trope of mine, and it doesn't exist anywhere else on Sodor. I’d have loved it if they could have stayed on as cronies for Deisel, helping him in his schemes but being the first to laugh at him when things didn't go his way
That’s because it’s been rumoured that Hornby were going to make Splatter and Dodge, but were changed at the last minute to Arry and Bert, hence their faces
That would've been a great idea if 'Arry and Bert's models weren't recycled into Splatter and Dodge. Splatter and Dodge's OWN models would've been built for Thomas And The Magic Railroad and 'Arry and Bert's models would've just been given a matte finish for Series 6. Of course, Splatter and Dodge can still be Class 08 diesels if you know what I mean.
I like to imagine that Splatter and Dodge pled guilty to their crimes of confusion and delay after The Magic Railroad, and were thus placed in the witness protection program as Arry and Bert
I am completely aware as well that Splatter and Dodge were originally intended to return in Day of the diesels in the great race along with Dennis, I wish that it happened so we could’ve seen more of the two silly diesels
For the unused faces of all of the engines you should make replica of them to put of your collection to see what they would look like on the engines if they would used in the show
I feel the same way about Diesel 10's screaming face, which was actually used in the movie lol. I guess they were just trying to make the characters more expressive for the big screen, but it just turned out horrifying lol.
A really interesting engine or engines I would like to know the history of is Mighty Mac, I just think they’re a really unique interesting design and must have some history behind them
@@milligano1235 Maybe budget reasons? They were yellow/mustard and apparently one side would've been energetic and optimistic and the other one quiet and pesimistic, interesting concept in my opinion
I remember as a kid thinking Arry and Bert were originally Dodge and Splatter, and changed their names and paint schemes after Diesel 10’s demise. Also looking at that unused laughing face, Ghost Face anyone? I mean, Magic Railroad and Scream 3 both came out the same year……
I remember a long time ago, I had done a video about some behind the scenes facts and at the time, it was thought that Arry & Bert and Splatter & Dodge's models were the same models and a lot of people kept telling me this was wrong, even through I said in the description I already knew that! Thank goodness this has since been confirmed to be true after all. I just wish people would read the description of videos BEFORE commenting on what I got wrong because I say in the description of my videos that I already know this info so people wouldn't point it out. Not so they would point it out anyway. For some time, I had to disable the comments on my video because I got sick and tired of people telling me the same things over and over again.
I guess the guy Chris lioyd who said that splatter and dodge's models got lost another words never return from canada was not true. So basically when splatter and dodge's model was brought back, they painted them back to arry and bert. But to be more specific it doesn't mean splatter and dodge are arry and bert, because if you think about it they have beards and splatter and dodge don't, and second arry and bert appeared in season 5 which was before thomas and the magic railroad, so I guess the studio couldn't afford another diesel model to paint into splatter and dodge. It would've been cool if splatter and dodge came back.
It makes no sense that any characters introduced in TATMR spoke with American accents because they were all based on British/European locomotives, none of which have ever been to the States to my knowledge.

I do remember there was supposed to be an episode where Splatter & Dodge returned but I can only assume the idea was scrapped for what I don’t really know
But I thought the mentioned of splatter and Dodge painted back as Arry and Bert is a rumor and the real reason is Splatter and Dodge never came back from Canada because they were lost and Arry and Bert are new models?
