Cop and procedural series get 40-60% of the prime time network ratings. Top 20 series. CSI, Law and Order, NCIS, Breaking Bad etc. People watch them and advertising pays $$$.

I am happy to see more of Elodie Yung's movies. She is beautiful, talented, and good at everything she does. Her father is Cambodian and her mother is French. I am so proud of her. I can't wait to see her movies. It's enticing and has a lot of action.

Looks intriguing and well produced. The premise isn't really all that far-fetched--parents will go to great lengths for their children, also desperate times call for desperate measures. Hope it's as good as this promo makes it look.

The premise is possible even if she wasn't illegally there, actually. In the US, everyone whines because of a physician shortage and overpriced medical system. But excellent doctors from third world countries, doctors who've seen more patients and handled more difficult cases than most american doctors will ever see in their life are blocked by their system. In order to even apply for a job to save lives in the US, they need to spend tens of thousand of dollars, which is far more than their salaries back home. So even if she was there legally she'd find it hard to work (not impossible though)

I am watching the Pilot episode now. I like it so much that I paused it about 40 minutes in to write this comment. The cast is really good and the plot is interesting. Elodie Yung is phenomenal. Adan Canto is as well. If the rest of the episodes are as good as the pilot it may very well be a hit.

ok this looks freaking INTENSE. you can srsly feel her anxiety and fear from being forced to do make this decision to work for the mob to save herself and her son. that instant when the gun was fired and the high pitched sound made it so real. her life flashing before her eyes... not knowing what to do next. crazy!!!

This show reminds me of 'The Mob Doctor', where the protagonist - a doctor - is forced to work for the mob (to save her brother's life), but decided to take things into her own hands in an attempt to redeem herself.

Eh, Prodigal Son was a fun concept with plenty of potential, but the stories, the dialogue, and much of the acting were pretty trashy, to the point of the campy humor turning to complete cringe. Probably for the best they scrapped it after the nosedive in quality episode after episode.

Difference is that the lead in the Mob Doctor was specifically trained to become a go-to doctor to the mafia she was working for and she wanted out. This one, at least in the description of the premise, she was a doctor from Southeast Asia who went stateside to get the treatment her son needs or else he'll die and because of circumstances, she found herself involved with a criminal organization which could be her sole chance to save her son so she took a risk in using her medical knowledge to clean messes in the guise of a lowly cleaning lady.
