DJ, as a young lad and an avid autograph collector, I was lucky enough to meet Jimmy Clitheroe outside a stage door theatre. Along with other autograph hunters of the same age as me, JImmy took time to laugh and joke with us, signing our books and giving us all a signed photo. Memories eh?
Great memories, and the humour stands up amazingly well. But it's astonishing that Susan manages to be a nice privately educated girl from the Home Counties when the rest of the cast are working class and the setting the North of England (the Scottish emigre, fair enough). Astonishing that the public wore it. But they did.
