There is something very off about General Krell! Something is just not right with this "jedi" I even had to question if he was a jedi because I have never et a character like him in the series. His hate for the Clones will not go unpunished!

I love how she tried to be cautious not to judge Krell as a book by its cover, but sometimes you should 😆

8:30 yes actually 😂 its a reference to ATLA. His name is Appo (like appa), got the arrow, and filoni (the guy who made clone wars) worked on some episodes of ATLA. Also, the voice actor of the clone, Dee Baker, voiced Momo and Appa!

Surprisingly there’s been very little about Krell’s past. A few small bits we’ve gotten fairly recently, like pretty early in the war he was visably displeased when it was suggested the clones be treated as individuals. HR for the clones? If only. It’s important to remember their existence was kept secret even to the Republic right up until they needed them. The war is 2 years in by this point, the main focus been winning the war, not so much making sure the clones have proper rights and treatments. They are legitimately conisdered property of the kaminoans who created them. Technicaly that clone is a reference to Appa. Seargeant Appo. A reference to Dave Filoni being a director son some episodes of Avatar S1.

Nyes. While the Kaminoans certainly treated the clones as property, I would argue that basically all Jedi Officers (barren a few exceptions like Krell) were very sympathetic towards clones and did indeed see them as individuals.

The Clone you pointed out with the Airbender-style arrow on his head is Sergeant Appo, named for Aang's beloved Sky-Bison himself, Appa! Dave Filoni, the man who co-created this show alongside George Lucas and was involved in basically every part of it, also did a lot of work on the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, so that's probably how this reference ended up in there! Regarding how advanced the Umbarans' weaponry is - they're just quite a technologically advanced species, not much further explanation is really given I'm afraid. One possible reason is that their planet is a major exporter of Doonium, a material essential for Starship construction, and that probably brings with it a decent amount of technological expertise.

"a lot of work" is a weird way to spell "he did some storyboards". People really need to stop riding Filoni's dick. Dude's always been one of a team.

In no way was I trying to discredit anyone else's involvement, or suggest that he did it all himself. I may be a fan of the shows he's involved in but I'm not blind, I know it's not all him. I just wanted a concise way to explain that he worked on several episodes of the first season of ATLA too. I agree that people who are bigger fans of Filoni than myself tend to be a bit overzealous, but you could do to chill out a little, it was just poor phrasing on my part.

Hey, Imon! THE GENERAL: The advanced heavy-duty Umbaran hardware turns General KRELL's reckless frontal assault into a meat-grinder! REX's excellent leadership had him make a boots-on-the-ground revision to Krell's strategy using it as cover for a stealthy infiltration to acquire air support. This arc is one of the few times the clones battle other LIVING BEINGS instead of droids. The Umbarans' armor and faceplate is modeled after that of the SARDAUKAR in Frank Herbert's "Dune". The VAPOR issuing from the cracked Umbaran helmets is a gas that boosts the troops' aggression and stamina! They're juiced like the Dominion's JEM'HADAR from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". The VEHICLES the Umbarans use have a wild design resembling centipedes and scorpions! The return of KIX, the medic clone, last seen in "The Deserter" (Season 2, Episode 10). KIX: front-to-back solid stripe on helmet, lightning shaved into peach fuzz on scalp The clone standing by Krell who offers to assist the 501st but is ordered to stand down is Sergeant APPO who will later prevent Bail Organa from entering the Jedi Temple in "Revenge of the Sith".

8:40 Dave Filoni worked on both this and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I think they did that as a homage to that fact. Also, the clones are all voiced by the same guy who voiced Appa and Momo. That clone's name is actually Appo, very close-sounding to Appa.

8:39 basically. Sergeant Appo is a play on Appa the bison, and Dave Filoni, who works on Clone Wars, worked on a lot of episodes of Avatar as well.

I find it interesting that we have Appo in this arc, who we will see in Revenge Of The Sith.

What I like about this episode is we see something new: what the Clones really think. The Umbara arc is truly something else 7:19 Sgt Appo was in episode 3, when Bail Organa visits the Jedi Temple 8:39 that's Sgt Appo, and yes is a reference of ATLA 11:42 that last shot of the crew, love it

In the old extended universe this was way more common. A Slave army being forced to make bad decisions by jedi less trained in warfare than they are who view them as less than human. Kenobi and Anakin were exceptions not the rule. Makes why they would follow order 66 so willingly and immediately a little more complex. A book series that covers the plight of the clones really well is "Republic Commando" By Karen Traviss. It's a damn good read.

Krell and Anakin are on opposite ends of the spectrum regarding how they treat the clones, while most other jedi are somewhere in the middle.
