R.I.P. Ray Stevenson who passed away a few days ago. He voiced Gar Saxon, Maul's Mandalorian General, here, and he'll be playing a new character in the Ahsoka show. It will be his last performance.
Yeah I only found out he was Gar Saxon as well as in the new Ahsoka series, such a loss but at least hopefully the new Ahsoka series will be a nice send off and he’s not one with the force
There’s a saying about that final shot of the series: Vader didn’t have to go out to some moon in the middle of nowhere to confirm the deaths of everyone on a Venator class ship, but Anakin… Anakin NEEDED to
They were in the events that of revenge of Sith, they just didn’t show up, because the movie was only focusing on Anakin, Obi, and not Ahsoka, but Ahsok being on Mandalore happens at the same time as the events of Revenge of the Sith
Fun fact #1 Best thing about "Old Friends Not Forgotten"? Every scene, and I mean every scene in the first part of the episode, right up until Ahsoka tells Rex "Beat you" is a reference to the pilot movie. #1.1 The episode begins with Obi-Wan and his clone troopers pinned down by the Separatist droids until Anakin arrives and pulls a fake surrender, both to buy time and draw out the enemy commander (much like Obi-Wan did in the pilot movie). #1.2 Meanwhile, the 501st gets behind enemy lines by approaching it hiding under on object (in this case, the bridge the clones are trying to capture). This is just like what Anakin and Ahsoka did in the pilot movie when they were sent to disable the Separatists' Energy Shield. #1.3 Just as they win the battle, Admiral Yularen calls the Jedi to inform them of an urgent message and they're surprised to discover that it's from Ahsoka. Again, this is just like when she appeared on Christophsis to deliver Yoda's message in the pilot movie. #1.4 When they're reunited, Anakin is eager and happy to see her again, but Ahsoka keeps her distance. This is a complete 180 from their first meeting in the pilot movie, when Ahsoka was enthusiastic to meet her new Master while Anakin was not happy to have her as his Padawan. #1.5 Ahsoka' and Anakin's discussion about the role she played in protecting the clones in battle, mirrors her conversation with Rex after Anakin foisted her on him in the movie. #1.6 Ahsoka's mid-air charge on the defences of Sundari, including a race to see who gets to the enemy frontline first, contrasts the vertical siege of the B'omarr Order Monastery on Teth. In the pilot movie, Ahsoka jumped on top of an AT-TE and remained mostly stationary, using her lightsaber only to repell enemy fire. In this episode, she leaps from one gunship to another, takes out Maul's Death Watch soldiers by disabling their Jet Packs mid-flight (once even hitching a ride on one of them), rescues a clone pilot from a crashing gunship when his emergency hatch won't open in order to eject, and leaps from the gunship straight to the docks of Sundari, clearing a bridgehead for her clone troopers to land at. Oh, and this time, she wins the aformentioned race, granted it's against Rex instead of Anakin. #2 Rook Kast and Saxon rescuing Maul from Sidious's prison was shown in the "Son of Dathomir" comic series, that adapted an unproduced storyline, after the series was cancelled. #3 With the introduction of Rook Kast the Mandalorian-storyline had a blonde (Satine) a red-head (Bo-Katan) and a bruenette (Rook) play a major role, each on different sides of the conflict. #4 Remember Ursa, Bo-Katan second-in-command. You'll see her again. #5 Almec telling Ahsoka that Maul is after someone called Skywalker mirrors Lando saying the same thing to Han and Leia about Vader. #6 When Ahsoka, Rex, and Bo-Katan enter the throne room, while discussing the clone occupation, only to find Maul already sitting there on his throne, prompting Bo-Katan to open fire immediately, which he deflects using the Force, mirrors Han, Leia and Chewie's capture by Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back. Furthermore, both Maul and Vader has a Jango Fett clone by their side, albeit in differnt positions: Jessie is Maul's prisoner, while Boba was the one who led Vader to Cloud City. #7 Ahsoka and Maul's duel was record by motion-capture with Ray Park reprising his role as Maul's physical performer. Lauren Mary Kim did Ahsoka's fight choreography. #8 Anakin's clearance code, that Ahsoka uses to retrive Rex's grievance report about Fives is 8108. This is a reference to the date of the TCW pilotmovie's premier: 8/10/2008 in month/day/year format.
How the hell did you manage to find all of these connections dude? I don't think even Screencrush, Star Wars Theory or New Rockstars has put all of these pieces together?
@@DarthRevan8976 Some I noticed myself, others I found through RU-vidrs. Plus I've been chronicleing TCW's references on Tvtropes, since before the show was first cancelled.
One of the reasons Ashoka seemed rough at the beginning was precisely because she was written that way. The character was meant to show growth and added depth throughout the series. It's brilliant writing because she's annoying then suddenly you realize you're starting to like her. Then you start to respect her. Then you grow to bloody love her once she accepts her fate. She grows and makes mistakes but she learns from those mistakes. One of my very favorite ones is where she assumes leadership over the group of stranded Padawans. That's when I said she's really starting to come into her own.
It’s crazy that after watching you guys slowly watch through the series you’ve finally finished it. I can remember exactly when the credits started playing when the episode first dropped. It was a hot sunny morning and the uk was still in lockdown back in 2020
This arc is very different because of the dark tone and the constant tension especially in the middle. You know what is gonna happen but it still hits you in the heart. And you are constantly on the edge of your seat until it actually happens.
One detail most people tend to always miss is that Maul’s lightsaber is his own that was cut in half paired with half of his brothers who was killed by Sideous
actually the other half isn't savages, the design for it comes from the unused concept art of ventress' yellow lightsaber from dark disciple. whether he actually dug hers up on dathomir or if they just reused the design is unknown, but i agree that he should've just used savage's lightsaber
These last four episodes really are Revenge of the Sith 3.5. The tension and way it all ties into Episode 3 is impressive. I also like that even though everyone would have likely seen the movies before watching this it's still written in a way that you don't need to have seen them but if you have you can see the whole picture of what's happening.
Dave Filoni stated that he never got to finish the Clone Wars the way he wanted to. So, when Disney acquired the franchise from George Lucas, FIloni was able to go back and tie up everything neatly, ONLY because Episode 3 had already been released. Everyone that watched Episode 3 knew about Order 66, and what happened to the Jedi, and Anakin. Because Ahsoka was not in Episode 3, Filoni had to go back and give her some backstory as to what she was doing after leaving the Jedi Temple, and where she was at the start of Order 66. If you had never seen Episode 3, you would have missed the various inclusions of the Jedi Council discussing the Supreme Chancellor and the need to take over the Senate. All of this happened in Episode 3, and was included in this. You also would have missed Sabine Wren's mom with Bo Katan, and important detail since it is revealed during the Rebels episodes.
I strongly encourage you to watch Tales of the Jedi soon. If you're not familiar it's six short stories. Three featuring Dooku and three featuring Ahsoka. You could easily do them in two reactions. The Ahsoka stories relate to the Siege of Mandalore and what happens afterward so now is the best time to watch them.
Such an amazing conclusion to an incredible show. So bittersweet. Feloni did an excellent job. The four episode arc could be considered a single film and it would rank as high as ESB and ANH.
All of the Maul dialogue, especially the bit where he sounds absolutely terrified as well as in total awe of the grand plan. He is not an especially skilled force user in comparison so seeing him take full advantage of the swelling dark side to rip the ships hyperdrive apart was pretty awesome.
There is one really dark part of this when the clones are in order 66 mode. Like Rex mentioned, they're fully conscious during it. Even when they're minds, bodied and words are hell bent on killing the jedi and obeying orders without question, they're in the back of their minds screaming out trying to fight for control only to watch helplessly as they gun down their friends and their brothers
Fun facts. In Episode 1, a martial artist by the name of Ray Park physically portrayed Maul, but he didn’t speak any of his lines. They were recorded later by British actor Peter Szymon Serafinowicz. Ray Park returned for this episode of Clone Wars to portray Maul via performance capture. But, he is still voiced by somebody else. Actor Sam Witwer (Starkiller in the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Deacon St. John in the video game Days Gone) voices Maul throughout Clone Wars and Rebels, and truly elevates the character to something special.
"The last time I saw him, he was rushing off to save the Chancellor. Then everything changed..." "He was my master. He was powerful, rarely lost a battle. What would have surprised people is how kind he was... he cared deeply about his friends and looked out for them until the end..." -Ahsoka Tano-
29:40 The fight not only was a proper one, but notice how real it looked. They decided to step it up a notch for this lightsaber duel. They asked Ray Park to come in and do a motion-capture sequence to play Maul again for the fight. The actress that played Ashoka for the motion-capture was amazing as well. The behind the scenes video is definitely worth a watch when you have time.
this arc was the best of star wars to me ever since it released and the only thing that actually managed to overtake it was Andor episodes 8-10. These episodes are star wars at its peak. And andor is what happens when star wars starts to explore beyond whats great in star wars. I'm really happy that you watched this and I'm soo looking forward to your andor reactions!
Anyone notice that Rex didn't have his paint scheme with Ahsoka's face markings? He had it before the siege, than during and after, he had his original fox markings? Btw, the Mandalorian accompanying Bo Katan was Sabine Wren's mom, from the Rebels animated series.
Ever since us fans urged you to watch The Clone Wars, I have been waiting to see your reaction to the last episodes. And then Lewis joined you on your journey which made it that much better. This was basically a 2 hour animated feature film....and one of my favorites. Can't wait for you to start Rebels. Great vid, you guys!
The story of the clones is so tragic. Born artificially to be soldiers, their lives vit short bu the dact that they age twice as fast, forced to die for ideals they have no choice but to be loyal to.
What I loved about this series is the animation was so detailed from the backgrounds to the battles, and the attention to detail to keep the Star Wars lore in sync. It explains a lot of the characters and worlds in the Star Wars Trilogies it's like giving you the background or origin stories especially the Mandalorian. It was well done, scripted and drawn. Like most people who are Star Wars fans, this was a plus, not a minus.
I had your channel pop up a couple of days ago and the star wars nerd in me made me binge watch all your sw videos. I know its been 12+ months for you two, but its been 48hrs for me, and even though this is still 2 months behind, I had to drop a comment on this one to say, its been a privilege watching your reactions along this journey so far, it brought back so many great memories of when I first started diving into it for the first time and learning about it all. I am so glad you watched the clone wars in the order you did, so you got the full experience of season 6 and 7 acting as prequels to revenge of the sith as they were intended. For me personally, when I watched this arc for the first time, Maul laying it all down for Ashoka, and his delivery of that line about Anakin being the “key to everything” seriously gave me chills, my goosebumps had goosebumps! I have seen a lot of sw reactions, and most of them feel really forced and staged, especially to the dad-vader thing, but its been like finding the holy grail of sw reactions in yours, and especially Lewis’, reactions - I honestly felt his reaction to the dual bladed sabre in phantom! You should do a montage video of all his wtf-moment reactions. Anyway, thanks for the great content, I’ll be finishing the rest of it and then diving into your mcu content too! All you need to do now is expose Lewis to the walking dead, game of thrones and lord of the rings and you are officially the best parent ever! Cheers guys.
Absolutely no problem at all, thank you for taking the time to binge them all, it has been a privilege to watch them. So happy you have enjoyed watching along as there is still a lot more to see. We have started the MCU but might have to wait a few years to get him on the GOT train haha. I have started it and it is something that might be a little awkward watching together lmao Speak soon my friend
Amazing arc, the buildup and tension and the music especially in Victory and Death was incredible. That was Jesse's helmet in the middle at the end btw i think you said it was rex's
IMHO the last four episodes are among the best SW content that exist. I rank it up there with Empire. Filoni truly understands the fans. Great reaction. Like you, I also watched the entire Clone Wars series with my teenaged son. It has paid dividends I couldn't have foreseen. We have lengthy conversations about SW still today, and he's now in his early 20's. The SW universe has given him and I a connection that I will treasure for the rest of my life. Remember these moments when he gets a little older and you inevitably have to do that teenager "war" with him. On days you aren't fighting and you can corner him for a little while, you will be able to have SW conversations, and for a few minutes you will be best friends again. Best moments.
Honestly, it's criminal that they didn't just realize these four episodes theatrically like they did with the Clone Wars movie since that was supposed to be the first arc of the show
I was fully on Maul's side lol. Ahsoka may have "saved" him but only for her own selfish reasons. To have him be a sacrifice to buy her more time. Maul has a long life, can't kill him off so easily. As for some stuff you said...heh...keep those thoughts...
Tales of the Jedi is also a good watch, you don’t really need to watch anything else before seeing it. It is just a few stand alone stories to give more background on the characters we know and love.
Just joined you for this..loved it watching your reactions because you LITERALLY DONT know what’s ahead!!! Brilliant!!! Am going to stick around for Rebels!! You’re in for more peak SW!!!
Thank you so luxh for the comment. We both have absolutely no idea what is going to happen which makes it amazing lol Thanks for watching and stopping by
At 3:00 you say there’s really big Star Wars fans out there, who haven’t seen The Clone Wars. I’m one of them. I have over 250 modern action figures in ‘The Black Series’ line by Hasbro (toy manufacturer) and all the vehicles from that line. In addition, I have dozens of Star Wars household goods, and apparel. So much so that I cosplay and attend San Diego Comic Con for the last five conventions in a row. I even cosplay as Luke once a week at Disneyland’s Star Wars land. Just being busy with work, family, friends, traveling , and so much Star Wars contant that it doesn’t give me a lot of free time to watch the series. PS. “The lightsabers of life“ were sold in a box crate at both Disney Parks, USA around the summer of 2021. People went crazy for them.
Ahsoka being a little brat at the beginning was done on purpose. She was made childish, because she was a child, so that she had room to grow as a character and so that we as viewers would come to like her.
Man I absolutely love watching your guys' reactions to Star Wars. I love the father-son dynamic, and hope to share that with my kids years in the future to this great franchise :)
When the order was given out, Ashoka just knew what she had to do if the clones were turned against her. Skywalker really got her prepped very well and she literally survived that purge like a pro. But man…. seeing this again made me ticked off. Barris Offee in Season 5 warned them about what was happening, 5s told them in Season 6 plus the Counsel even figured it out, and here we are in Season 7, Mail predicted it and even told them what was happening. And what did the frickin counsel do, turned it down and cut it off and just ignored the warnings and everyone is now screwed.
Il so happy you finally saw this cinematic masterpiece. It’s imo the best piece of Star Wars content ever, for what it did and what it wrapped up. Also some of the things you theorised in the beginning for a potential finale were quite interesting, keep them in mind going forward maybe :)
Now, you owe it to yourselves to watch Rebels. The first season is a little slow but it builds the foundations for something exquisite. I do mean exquisite as it is beautiful and almost perfect by the end.
What a crazy journey! I'm glad to have been able to follow along with you through it all! Excited for you two to see rebels! It'll bring some levity after such a heavy finale
I’ll get my tissues ready… Can’t believe you are finally here… I know it’s a huge commitment but I promise you so well worth it moving forward in the SW universe . MTFBWY and Lewis!
Not just revenge of the Sith , Star Wars rebels is mixed in If you haven't seen it yet ,you're not gonna understand The Easter eggs , Start watching rebels as fast as you can you only have a few months.. June July August
Rebels is absolutely worth watching, I look forward to watching the two of you experience it. That being said however, its early episodes are tonally removed from the end of Clone Wars here, so it may be a bit of a shock at first. The end of each season, and the 4th in particular, are up there with the best of Star Wars. Tales of the Jedi is great too, just know that it covers 2 arcs in these first 6 episodes, with numbers 1, 5, and 6 following one character, and episodes 2, 3, and 4 following the other. You probably don't need to watch them in release order (1,2,3...), if you want to watch the arcs uninterrupted, but there's no harm in it either. The episodes are very short so each one ends sooner than you expect/want, but together they tell a brilliant story.
A heartbreaking, bone chilling conclusion to an epic journey. This to me is, along with some parts of Rebels, Star Wars at its peak! Really looking forward to seeing your takes on Rebels if/when it comes to youtube!
When I saw this arc for the first time, and Heard Fives name since a long time, I went very emotional 😥! Mandalore is absolute one of my favorite plantes of all time, because of the History and culture Your reactions are the BEST!, and I enjoyed wachting together with you this amazing show👍🤩!
Well worth the wait, if not the frustrations you went through with the upload. I've seen this before and I still cried my eyes out, watching along. Can't wait to see you two continue!
the pinnacle of star wars right there. I can't believe that I've been watching with you since your channel started and today here we are :D what a journey it has been. Looking forward to Rebels and other series as well.
It was awesome when I saw your and your son react to the Star Wars movies, and seeing Revenge of the Sith for the first time. Are you guys ever going to react to the Kenobi series, or react to Rogue One? I'm waiting for that!
And so it ends, the Clone Wars. It's been amazing re-watching it with you guys. These last arc left a massive hole inme for a few days afterwards, not gonna lie. Amazing quality, amazing closure of all the storylines. The good thing is you guys still have so much material to watch after this. This is not the end! Tales of the Jedi, Rebels (not so good to begin with perhaps in my opinion but great overall), Mandalorian, Boba Fett, etc.. Can't wait to live it all through you again! Lots of love and support from Brighton. Xxx
Amazing ending, right? Well their story isn't over. Now to see what happens that you don't see in the movies, you have to watch Rebels, then Obi-Wan Kenobi series, The Mandalorian season 1 & 2, Boba Fett, Mandalorian season 3, and then the new Ahsoka show when it comes out. Most of your questions will be answered in those shows in that order.
It is very interesting to see your joint reaction to the films Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts and Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem. These are cool movies 👍👍👍
That's cool! I am also interested to see your joint reactions to these cartoons Batman Unlimited and the reaction to the film Real Steel 2011. Really looking forward 😊👍
I can still remember the first time you did a clone wars reaction and today is finally the final episode. It's a little sad that there won't be any clone wars reactions after this, but I'm really looking forward to the next star wars series
Man Kev I have enjoyed watching the go through The Clone War's 🎆🌋..The Time has Come The End Begins now Revenge of The Sith Timeline Hits! And Can't wait to see you check out Star War's Rebels🤘 Stay awesome Guy's (Darth Vader Breathing Voice)🌋⚡
I’ve been watching the channel all the way back when, Kev you saw revenge of the Sith, I always look forward to your videos. And can’t wait to see what the future holds.
