This was one of the first rides built at the park as it began to transform into a fully fledged theme park. Before it was replaced with Secret Weapon 8 - Wickerman. Feed The Flames.

list of memories i have with this ride - kid that bullied me lost his bag on that ride and cried his eyes out (i had to pretend to be sad, very difficult.) - saw a kid going down the final drop with his ipad out (still struggling to process this) - got genuinely spooked by the rubber duck (on my first ride, ok?)

When this launched height restrictions were less strict. I was 2 years old and allowed to sit on my mothers lap in the front of the boat. Being perhaps a bit silly and first time rider they never knew about the drop in the dark. I was launched out of the boat upwards and forwards but somehow was yanked back into the ride mid drop by the use of child reigns/straps. The kid sat on the lap 6.29 is perfect example of it. I still have my on ride photo from 1989. The guy gave you a ticket at the top of drop. You went to kiosk paid the person and then it took about 3/4 weeks to arrive in the post. You never got a preview and just had to chance it was good!

I feel like log flumes are such fun rides, it would be really cool to see a park add a new one with good theming. I can only hope :) I know we have Valhalla, but a ride using the traditional boat design/logs.

My one and only log fume is the one at six flags ga and I still adore it, but my first water ride(s) as a kid was at Sesame Place in langhorne pa !! My favorite ride there was the closest thing to a log fume there where you sit in one huge donut with a ton of people and make your way down a big long slide that had a giant rubber ducky on top, smiling as it spat out water that you might go through at the very beginning of the ride!

It really stood out to me at the beginning when the guy was talking about how they didn't want to just imitate Disney and needed to do something "more solid" for the British audience compared to an American one. It seems to me that a lot of times when people critique Disney for being artificial or contrived, they're not criticizing Disney parks themselves, as opposed to the stereotypes of Disney parks or the experience of many of their crasser imitators. Disney has QUITE a lot to be critiqued about, but theming and design in the parks is (generally) not one of them. (I'm not addressing the back-handed insult of Americans as provincial easily satisfied consumers because all us Anglophone countries talk shite about each other.) XD

I live in America and have only ever heard of Alton Towers because of the Smiler accident, however I have almost watched all your videos about this park in the past two days. God I miss Alton Towers The Flume, sadly I only got to ride it 3 or 4 times over the years I have had some great memories of the ride I have also seen videos and pictures from my Dad when him and his past friends and my Mom went on the Flume in the late 80s to the 90s, also pictures and footages when I went on it in the late 2000s, thank you so much for this video love your channel always, been watching for awhile now

Back in 1997 when i was 7, me and my family stayed for two nights at the newly opened hotel at Alton Towers. When i was standing in the queue for the log flume i was eating a lolly and two wasps flew into my mouth and stung me three times. I turned to my mum with a swollen tongue and said, if i remember correctly, "muhdgurjig" and she replied "oh silly you've bit your tongue" and my brother looking over her shoulder said "no... i think i can see wasps in there" at which point my mum started to freak out slightly and my brother put his hand in and promptly pulled them out. My mum calmed down and then refused to leave the queue because we had already been waiting for an hour. Side fact: on the same holiday my sister chipped her tooth riding the corkscrew. Great video brought back a lot of memories!

Seeing those Disney costumes at the beginning make me think of how much they’ve changed over time. They look so much better now. And I love the MSEP! This was fun to watch. My favorite log flume is Splash Mountain

As much as I love Wicker Man I wish they could have positioned it elsewhere, there’s not enough relaxing family rides in towers, this complemented the rapids so well... sorely missed and remember it being highly popular ‘til the end :(

Fabulous video!! I am 56 I loved Blackpools flume, and I loved Alton Towers log flume too. I rode both with my husband, when he was my boyfriend, then fiance, then married and later with our children! So many memories! And I treasure my ride photos! I wish they had kept the flumes, and I totally agree with you re the silly baths, and very annoying showers on the Towers log flume! Thanks Sam! Also lovely to see Jackie on the vid too. x

The first time the rubber duck appeared quacking in the dark I almost jumped out the bathtub, probably one of the biggest jump scares to date! The log flume at Drayton Manor is my favourite- I remember being blown away by the theme-ing, especially through the queue. The light house had sprawling stacks of books above you and there was a fake cat asleep in a pile of rope and fake barnacles etc and then animatronic sailer at the start of the ride. Was the first majorly themed English ride that I remember.

I never rode the flume sadly. When i was really young i walked up to the measuring board and i was just too short. I had to sit and wait for my parents and sisters to get off. i wasn't able to go on it because some stuff happened with my family and we weren't able to go. When we next went, the flume was shut. Now, Wicker Man stands in its place and i really enjoy it with all its theming and stuff! but im really sad i didnt get to ride the flume. Another great Alton Expedition by the way!

That goddamn duck 😂😂 I did love the theme though weirdly. It was a strange one to go with as it didn't fit anywhere but I just found that all the more amusing. I really miss having log flumes in the UK now. The only one I've ridden since the Flume closed in this country is the one at Great Yarmouth, good old soaker that one xD. Ripsaw Falls in Universal last year took first as my favourite but I love the classics.

The Alton Tower's expeditions are always my favourites, it's almost like I'm back in the park re experiencing everything from my childhood. It's just so amazing to see The Flumes again which where one of the most iconic landmarks in AtonTowers before the Wickerman.

I genuinely can’t imagine going on a flume ride somewhere so freezing. Once it drops below 23 on the Gold Coast the lines are empty for them. Below 18 they will shut them 😂 on a 40 degree day they will have a 2 hour queue though...

I'm definitely a fan of log flumes. Having part of my childhood in Fort Worth, Tx, I rode the Six Flags log flume its 2nd or 3rd year. It was a huge hit and caused Six Flags' attendance to grow exponentially in a short span of years. Thanks for the great video!

I didn't know the one at Six Flags was the first! I grew up around 45 minutes away, so I spent *many* a summer there! I always loved what we just called "the log ride." I remember that that the last time I went to Six Flags, I went with my dad. We timed our day pretty well, so the park wasn't super crowded. We stayed on Batman: The Ride for I think 3 rides in a row (we just didn't have to get off!) And we went on the log ride twice. It's a great memory to have.

This ride has so many memories with me especially on a school trip where my friend dropped his phone into the water and the ride had to be closed for 4 hours. Also, that rubber duck had me jump so badly I hurt the person behind me 😂

The log flumes at Bobbejaanland are one of the best. Espescially the one inside with the temple jungle theme! Maybe it was the first log flume inside of the world. Also Chipas at Phantasialand is great with his big drop at the end.

Log flumes have always been one of my favorite rides. Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knotts Berry Farm and El Aserradero at Six Flags over Texas were my first experiences and I have loved them ever since.

This is completely unrelated to the video, but the flaming Alton Towers logo used on Wickerman reminds me of the promotion they had with Seabrook's crisps to promote the ride. Fiery Woodsmoked BBQ crisps were actually some of the best I've had in recent years, and I miss them so much.

I always loved log flumes for the great ride photos you could do. We would always take props with us when visiting, mostly snorkel and masks, bath scrubbers and Shower caps. always got a good laugh from onlookers when we came round to the station.

When I was there in 2006 on a trip to ride roller coasters (I’m from the USA) some friends literally dragged me on “the Bathtub Ride”. I complained that it looked like any other old, boring log flume. But they insisted, and I finally gave in, just to shut them up. Damn duck scared the sh*t outta me!!!

I love a nice peaceful ride on a log flume through the woods. Kings Island used to have Kenton’s Cove Keelboat Canal, and I loved it. But it’s been gone for years now. Too bad!

John wardley designed a classic here. Love the swarm. And the "wardley wing over" at the top of the lift hill has the same un nerving feeling for me every single time.

NGL the Flume soundtrack is one of the most nostalgic sounds from my childhood. Get soaked on super upbeat Flume, go crash at Splash Landings for an hour, stuff face at buffet. Good times.

I remember when I was younger I went to Alton towers for the first time and waited for the log flume which was taking forever because some rather large woman missed the boat whilst trying to get on and just fell into the water.

I still have an old ride photo from being on this ride with friends and family. It was the first thing I always wanted to ride when we got to Alton Towers. It just goes to show how long it's been since a visit seeing as I had no idea that it was gone.
