this game was so great to watch because your opponents were such good players. it's beyond frustrating if someone else fucks your game because they make a mistake. here the board worked out amazing trades with everyone understanding the pros and cons of those moves. i wouldn't even be mad losing at 9 VP here, because the game was just so so good with great communication and great trades. very enjoyable experience, would have loved to participate in a game like this.
purple was not good for sure. he misplaced his 2nd settlement, and then he didn't even spend his auto-road to cut off Dylan on the wood port. Had he done that Dylan wouldn't even have been in the game, having no wheat at all. the fact that Dylan managed to lay down 5 roads and 1 settlement to get that point when purple only needed ONE road is bewildering to me.
Definitely my favorite video from you! The high moments were high as hell and the low moments were few and far between. Although it wasn't a win it was a very good watch gg fs!!
You love the wheel and deal too much Dylan that at times you completely forget about past deals made. In an indirect way i think that may have been the small difference between winning and losing here.
My thought exactly. It's so much easier for Dylan to get a settlement than a city, that he should have taken the city while he had the chance, even if it meant not having a chance of winning that turn.
he did many missplays. first it was bad to set up for his last settlement on the 6 brick because the road placed there doesn't add to longest road which he needs to lock. setting up on the 9 brick was way better. 2nd it's statiscally a lot more likely to win laying down a settlement rather than trying to pop for a vp, so yeah, not building the city there as you said was a brutal mistake.
Bro, we gotta get these clickbait headlines under control. Otherwise, top notch content as always. EDIT: To clarify, specifically want object to calling it "finals" when it's just the first game of the Day 2 bracket.
the way you managed to get to the 8 wheat laying down FIVE ROADS and even a settlement on the way, while purple really only needed ONE road to cut you off...... is a miracle i cannot explain.
First time Dlyan got out table-talked, threw him off his game and make misplays, really interesting to see, thanks for sharing and providing the learning opportunities to everyone!
Hey Dylan, loved the game, it was really close there! One thing maybe you could improve on is the transcription of the voice chat. Looks like you've got auto transcribe on, but if you've got someone editing for you maybe they could look at it too. Some weirdness in there, like YOP>yacht
4:31 I think one way you can improve your placements is by keeping an open mind about what is generally the best play taking into account all possible opponents placements. I think you can get tunnel vision a bit towards a specific scenario of placements and place according to that, when it so rarely turns out exactly as you'd expect anyway.
634 city was so bad. Because all Dylan used the ore for was vps anyway. If he committed to getting a second city then it’s not bad cause of the double ore.
after reading all the comments: I can say they're surprisingly negative and toxic. You played pretty well and I doubt many could play at this level. (including me) If it is a reupload like some suggest: just put that somewhere in description or something so people can't get mad. Love ya ☮
28:40 I would see if I can get Wheat for a Wood-Brick with Purple, plus promise of next Ore and justification of deny Orange a settlement spot. This allows me to build 4x road to the 9-11 to secure secondary Ore-Wheat spots, while taking away a settlement option from the main OWS player. It's in Purple's favour since their competitor for Army/VPs will have lower Wheat-Ore production, plus the settlement materials will now be stuck in their hand, causing them to 7 out more.
You need to up your table talk. You give away all your moves. You had this game on lockdown had you not said a single word the entire game - you'd win. If you are going to table talk you need to "lie cheat and steal".
He's good at placement and analyst. But his table talk game is brutal. He gives away all his moves outloud and he doesn't use purple as his pawn to do his bidding. You need to be sneaky, say one thing then do the opposite two plays later. Anyhow, table talk add a whole new element of desciet into the game which sounds fun.
Why extend the road at @34.45 on that end? Why not extend it the other direction to enable settling to win? Was it so it would be easier to take back road if they try to steal it?
Dylan, when you rent out your port, you can trade 1 of your 2 of theirs, port the 2, then trade back 1 for 1 XD I think you scammed yourself out of a sheep one turn?
imo u wasted so much time debating cutting purple off - the guy legit said it was fine u just spent more time rubbing it in his face and ngl in an even game i block the players that are annoying lol. It was good play to say sorry in advance but as soon as purple was chill w it, u gotta just do it man
Agreed. It's like that scene in Moneyball where Brad Pitt is teaching Jonah Hill's character how to cut a player. Just rip the bandaid off and make the best play for your game.
wow, you guys play so friendly. You even appologize for running over purple. I would have run over purple, and at the 13:00 mark taken 11/3. Without ever saying a word. Then at the end bribe purple with cards in order to do your bidding for remainder of the game, by offering free cards, in exchange he gives you cards you want. Use him as a pawn since he's last place.
