Some women take the issue of paternity for granted but, one thing I have observed in my short life on this earth so far is that successful groups (tribes or races) and individuals are those who know where they have come from. I think it cannot be gainsaid that Europeans, Asians (Chinese), and Arabs have a rich history of where they came from and are very successful groups of people. The importance of knowing your origins is simple, it's precedents, to mean what your ancestor did you can do it and even better. The precedents imbue one or a people with a with a profound and indomitable spirit of achievement. We do not place a lot of importance to this but, this is crucial. Even in the bible lineage occupies a special place but, we as Africans are yet to learn about its importance and impact on social development. Few of us in Zimbabwe can recount their lineage back to five generations with precision. Europeans, Asians and Arabs can trace their lineage to beyond 11century yet we cannot go back 5 generations. Food for thought. This lady not matter what has happened in her life should not deny her child his right to know his paternity. There simply is no excuse for that. She should expend all effort to do right by the child. It is simple how a simple decision can condemn or set a whole generation of people for life everything being equal.
We used mutupo to trace our lineage. Remember we only had oral history not written so in our culture thats why mutupo is important. Dont look down upon Africans. Most African cultures have a way of preserving their lineage. The only problem in our Zimbabwean society is having kids out of wedlock so paternity and lineage is always questioned.. In Asian, Arab culture etc its taboo to have kids out of wedlock. In fact id say its in Southern and East African societies where its normal to find single mothers. Even West Africans dont take out of wedlock kids lightly. So as long as we normalise kids before proper marriage this issue is going to be there for generations to come.

its not wrong for a man to doubt paternity , you know there is no smoke without fire. imagine 11 years supporting a child who is not yours, parents on here you know how difficult up keeping is. from preparation, birth cost, birth certificate, food, clothing , fees i mean all the hustle up to 11 years. i believe the man is now relieved.
