It is EXTREMELY rare to see a horror movie protagonist beat the ever-living FUCK out of the villain like this and WIN, no less. Arkin was past caring if he lived or died at that point. Full on adrenaline and rage, man handled business and still survived thanks to the girl here. Absolutely one of my favorite final fights in any movie
I mean let's be honest if we have to choose between a great action fight scene between The hills have eyes or collector I would have chose The collector hey let's not forget it wasn't just one fight it was two fights first movie second movie
When you’re scared that’s when fight or flight occurs. Arken, he has been through the worst of the worst. He definitely wasn’t scared. He was pissed. In one split second. He decided it was time to stomp him out, and he did. He definitely wasn’t in fight or flight. That means he was scared. Does he look scared to you? No. No he’s pissed.
@@fullsendabeerforme2988 Being angry pumps your Adrenaline up to so you can whip ass and that's why he fought also It's not about being scared its about being stressed that flight or fight happens. But agreed this was just someone so angry they are pumped on adrenaline.
@@fullsendabeerforme2988fight or flight doesn’t mean you are scared. It could be anger hatred or even if you just wanna fight. Don’t misinform people buddy.
@@Kbax3614 fight or flight by definition is and I quote "the instinctive physiological response to a threatening situation, which readies one either to resist forcibly or to run away." So, respectfully. By definition, you are the only one spreading misinformation. Arkin was clearly not scared here so therefore he was most certainly not in fight or flight. This is not only proven by the factual information I have provided but also to the fact that even in this scene he was willing to burn and die in that fire. He quite literally kneels down without shedding a tear. Therefore, showcasing he isn't scared. The man at this stage in the movie has nothing to lose. Implying he isn't scared to die and if he isn't scared to die he clearly isn't scared of the collector anymore. He wasn't in fight or flight. He was just angry.
I'm not going to lie, this is one of the most satisfying endings to a horror movie I think I've ever seen. Combined with the scene where Arkin shows up at the house, you rarely ever see the killer/villian "get it" the way The Collector got his comeuppance. Refreshing haha
+Christopher Thomas Only bad thing about it? We never got to see Arkin do to the Collector what the Collector did to him; though I have to hand it to Arkin; if I were him, I probably would've just shot the Collector right then and there when I had the gun to his head-- just to make sure he didn't have a chance to get away again; then again, it was *immensely* satisfying to see the Collector shut in his own box, while Arkin slammed the lid on him, screaming "Fuck you! FUCK YOU!! FUUUUCK YOOOUUU!!!". But again, as Arkin himself said, just shooting the Collector would've been too *nice* for him.
I'd knee cap him, both knees. Then shoot his crotch, then his hands, then elbows. Afterwards I empty the gun (just to be safe from plot devices), i smash his face in with the gun
The part where he dropped to his knees and was ready to give up tears me up a little.. he was ready to give up believing his fate was gonna end up him burning to death there and then to see how the girl helped him, the look on his face at 3:38 when he saw that she wasn’t giving up on him as he was watching her break the glass put “hope” back on his face 😍
There are movies that have the ability to jerk a tear or more, not from sadness or hilarity, but from raw overwhelming epicness. This is one such movie.
Its the biggest satisfaction when right after he says dont die yet he kicks him hard in his face while hes crawling on the floor knowing this is finally it for him
This was such a wonderfully-written climax to the movie. After all the events of the last movie, Arkin finally and satisfyingly lays a beatdown on the Collector. You can feel the indignation in each strike. And then, once he’s beaten him, resigns himself to being burned alive. But then, in a brilliant inversion of the turning point of the first film, where Arkin heroically turns back to save the little girl, a grown woman courageously rescues him. It gives me chills to think about it. There’s something archetypal here. Something true to life. If you make the heroic decision, things don’t always work out for you, but sometimes, if you do what is meaningful and courageous, Being rewards you by revealing itself as good to you. That’s what I get from this scene. Wonderfully done.
This scene and endfight definitely stuck out of the movie the most because of the great use of soundtrack, Arkins badassery and overall setup. I even thought Arkin would just stay there and die after getting rid of the Collector but the girl saves him that was kinda touching, not bad for a horror flick like this, that scene showed character :)
I like how Elena watches in complete Awe as Arkin totally starts whooping on the Collector's ass in this scene! Those ground and pound crosses to his face were extremely brutal and that knife through the cheek as Arkin just takes it and counters with a headbutt, extremely badass!!
Trystan Michels omg really ? Charlie Clouser also made the theme song for SAW I - SAW VII. It feels good knowing that the writer comes back and makes a badass song for when Arkin beats the Collectors ass
I'm pissed this movie got bad ratings. I don't get what made it so bad. This scene right here had, in my opinion, award winning potential. After the first movie Arkin get revenge on him, took a knife to the face but had the adrenaline of revenge. Then after he got trapped by the fire I would have betted all the cash I have that he was going to die. If the collector dies then so does Arkin. But the girl saved him, which in most movies you don't see so this made an interesting new twist you don't see much movies have. To be honest I did like the first one better but mainly cause Arkin was in stealth action and I like stealth but this movie deserved better props in my opinion.
I can't believe they're making a sequel to this. This had such a perfect pay off and ending that was unexpected. I feel a third film will just completely undo this.
There needs to be more horror franchises like this, where the protagonist is more than just the person who runs from the killer and escapes in the end just because they just so happened to be the last one to be chased. Where the actual killer himself isnt just a really strong and durable guy and instead is extremely smart and skilled and that why he is dangerous. Where most kills or scares actually have meaning instead of just being there. The 2 collector movies are extremely underrated and are easily the 2 best slasher horror movies of all time.
When Elena is looking at Arkin and Arkin looks down in defeat it is one of those rare highly emotional scenes you see in a horror film. The movie did so poorly in theaters but is loved by many just goes to show you that mainstreamknows nothing about actual horror. I don't trust anything critics or regular moviegoers say as they usually aren't into anything extreme.
I know your comment was a while ago but you're exactly right. Horror and comedy are the only genres where i disregard the reviews because different things are going to scare different people or make people laugh.
@@generaljesus7669 it's ok it's actually quite relevant as I re watched part 1 the other night. I just love Arkin. There is a part 3, The Collected, but an actual release date is not known. If filming was completed before covid, then we could have a 2020 release. If not, then 2021. Regardless, I can't wait. I just love the horror, fear and cleverness of this series.
I love the fact that Elena helped him. It was kind of her way of saying "I left you once and I'm not going to do it again!" Like Arkin was fully convinced that he was ready to go the minute he got revenge on the Collector and didn't care about anything else. But Elena got a path cleared for him, showing she actually gave a shit unlike the rest of the rescue team and that got them both the hell out of there. That's verified badassery!
One of THE most powerful scenes in movie history, in my opinion. A great vision of good (as far as humans can be good) vs. evil in the context of humanity. And JUSTICE after all the twisted, fucked-up shit the Collector has put people through. edit: I came back 8 years later to this comment. I certainly went overboard writing "one of THE most powerful scenes in movie history" :P, but I do still think it's powerful.
There's even a morally grey character who dies in this scene (the bodyguard). The man was a mercenary, working for money and loyalty to the mob only, but in the end he gave his life to save the girl and offered Arkin a perfect opportunity to kill the Collector
this and the collector my top 10 best horror flims Josh Stewart is an underrated actor. Deserves more. Glad to see him in The punisher 2nd season and The Shooter series. "Look at me" his adrielian and madness took over to defeat evil.
Arkin is such a great character and the fact he gets to actually live and beat the shit out of the collector is super satisfying….him, doug from the hills have eyes and sherriff wydell from devils rejects
The Collector films: God has a plan for everyone. Arkin may have just started out as a bit of a loser (a burglar and a blue collar), but at the end of the day he was part of the Plan. It was his destiny to bring down the Collector... and to have this epic face off.
When the music begins it gives me goosebumps Arkin is a real badass and this is the moment he have had enough of the collectors BS and it's on for real this time.
Man was the definition of a bad ass survivor. Took everything the Collector through at him and more and still managed to beat him to a pulp and come out alive. Definitely a rare thing in movies like this.
The killer is still unknown to us. However, we kind of know what he is in the ending when Arkin traps him in the box. When he goes upstairs, he turned the radio on and it is believed that he was related to what the radio news said, a child who was the only member of his family that survived his grandfather/father's massacre. The when Arkin holds him at gunpoint, he says hid daddy "fucked him up good." So he must have turned him into an artist, a bug liker, and a psycho killer.
I don't care what rotten tomatoes says this is underrated as f*** this scene alone is just you could just f****** analyze this down to a key and granted you could make nitpicks but at the same time it is just f****** a powerhouse of a scene arcan is the definition of a final boy which is probably the first time I couldn't even think of a final boy on film usually it's fine or girl but all this man did was Rob a house and he got put through hell and he's just not taking it he's f****** giving his all even with the fact of a knife to the cheek he doesn't give a s*** he'll f****** keep punching because he's sick of being pushed around by the sadistic f*** that is the collectorthis film is just amazing and I hope with the third installment it doesn't do anything to f****** this franchise cuz the way I see it this is a closed cut ending for a perfect good story I don't know how you would even improve upon it
The sequel was so much better then the original . The first was pretty much a cat and mouse chase throughout the whole movie , this movie was brilliant and the soundtrack rocked too.
Really fun horror/gore fest, has some good music, gory traps(wish we'd seen a few more going off killing all the off screen party goers we see dead later), good fight scenes.
The point is he could be anyone. Though in the first movie it had been suggested he was an exterminator who had been working on a house while he was casing the place. (Arkin Was able to get his mask off and see his face, though we never do.)
This movieeeeeeee is great!!!i love the ending & thank god elena is strong & smart too well both arkin and elena are strong & smart characters hehe 😬😂👌🏻
My favourite part of the movie is when Arkin hunt the collector into his house and lock him up in his red box. Not simply killing him and let him feel what Arkin feel is perfect. 😍
One of the rare scenes in dark movies in which the hero fights back a monster killer and even finish him that makes this movie so satisfying and happy wow
there will be 3rd part! i just saw on some site.. the name of movie will be The Collected, search on google.. hell yeah! :D btw the ending of this movie is epic!
+LexModding It's already implied (very vaguely) in the movies as to why the Collector did what he did-- its simple: he is an *evil son of a bitch*, and he did what he did because *he liked it*. Case closed.
