@@bluespig1 actually, it does. Without the production and editing these wouldn't be half as interesting as they are. Without the curation and comittment to do it--they wouldn't exist at all. Just ask the guy who never got around to putting this stuff together.
@@tombstonejones9581 yeah that’s the original. It’s a good video but it only scratches the surfaces of joes collection . He has some a+ grade stuff tucked away he rarely brings out of there cases
I am not a Joe hater, but I just don't buy that at all. Just my opinion but that has always read like a cover story, a way to make the fact that he spends a mil a month on gear more digestible. But when you hear him actually talk about this, especially in productions with less editing that mask slips quite a bit.
Àlex Oliva yeah man, I’d watch that! Especially if it was setup the way he described guitar safaris with his dad when he was a kid. In other words, Joe just looking through local “for sale” listings like Pennysaver and then showing up at a retired couple’s home and finding something amazing.
@@richardshank7659 I simply put on blackface go into town and experience peoples reactions - I'm not joking its a total distraction from any negative thoughts as all people gang together in condemnation of me - it puts things in perspective that no matter how bad your life gets - people hate black people more - I'm not racist I understand its a compliment to black people that I walk in their shoes - but they don't seem to like a mirror being held up - why? god only knows makeup is just that - depression cured
Mark’s interviewing skills are getting better - he’s actually letting Joe talk instead of answering his own questions. Great job on this one. I feel like this is an episode of hoarders but in an immaculate home.
Agree...no doubt the many constructive comments posted after the first three interviews had something to do with it. I remarked myself regarding Mark's penchant for interrupting, stepping on, and completing sentences for the interviewee. So rude and amateurish. He clearly has been coached and rehearsed this time around, thankfully.
@@robclute very true , but you can only imagine 20 years from now will Joe be on a revamped American Pickers where we can watch two guys climbing over piles of junk in a barn and making offers to Joe who keeps saying no i want to keep that , .. that show cracks me up, a guy about 80 with a yard and house that looks like a garbage dump refusing to sell its like. .. look grandpa take the money they offer on everything cause your family is just going to throw it all out when you die and hate you for leaving such a mess for them to have to deal with.
Here is a man that has sunk all his love, all his money and reverence back into what he values. Living and breathing it to preserve what has to be one of the greatest collections. It may feel to close too our yesterdays, but a collection that will have helped save our musical heritage. It may not have been his intention but it will help define the future of this art form. Hats off to you Joe. What we will appreciate the most is the axes on the edge of disaster that make well worn guitars, play another day. It has an untenable value as joy that we experience can’t be measured. I can only hope that when he passes, that it will be stipulated that a large portion of this collection be used again in private, in public and used in recordings of music that is yet to be penned.
Aside from the wonderful collection Joe has amassed, it is very heartwarming to know that there are collectors out there who do it for love of the instrument rather than for the willingness to flip it for the love of money. Cheers...
This guy is a genius. I've followed him for 6/7 years by now, I'm just getting surprised every single new vids I see. He bring vintage and rare guitars in the spot, on tour, and the guitar community can't be enough grateful to him
An excellent episode. Mark listened more than talked. No hyperbole or use of “iconic” or “authentic”. Came across as very genuine and professional. Mr Bonamassa is a complete treasure and his commitment to maintaining historic instruments and kit is wonderful.
Joe seems to be the nicest, nerdiest and yet coolest collector out there. I knew this would be a great episode right off the bat. And after talking about the first guitar for what seems like fifteen minutes before even opening the case, I knew I was right
I was fortunate enough to see him in the wild checking out a 355 in my local store. The dude is a monster - I don’t mean that in a bad way- he loves this stuff and actively chases it. Pretty cool and an amazing collector and musician.
I'm left with the feeling that Joe would happily give the same tour to anyone who shows an interest, just because he loves the role of custodian so much. The '55 hardtail strat is the most gorgeous strat I have ever seen. Something about the burst and it being a hardtail. Thanks Mark and Gibson for doing this. By far my favourite episode!
I love Joe Bonamassa. Not only is he an incredibly talented musician, but he is at heart a pure guitar lover. Not only does he play the music and make a living with them, but you can tell he just genuinely loves them. He probably feels as though they are his children.
I am not fond of his music, but do recognize that he is very talented, smart and educated, I have always enjoyed listening to his stories and free knowledge about guitars. Hope to have more of this soon!
I have always appreciated Mark and his knowledge of guitars. He was the main reason I started watching videos on RU-vid. Joe is the absolute BEST and I listen to him just about every day. By far my favorite! So talented and down to earth!
Joe bonamassa and his stories is one of the reasons why I loved those norms videos. Of course GOTD had me hooked daily. But I love listening to the night watchman at a guitar shop in the valley tell the stories about his guitars. Thanks joe! Thanks mark!
I'm 42 seconds in (paused it) and i'm already having a ball! First of all, the video is 1 hour and 13 minutes long. Second, two of my favorite people in the guitar community are in it!!! Let's go!!!
I've been putting this one off, so I could listen to every word Joe had to say. Yep, It was worth it. I'll watch this one again and again. So much knowledge in his head. It would crack my skull if I had half that memory. Good one G.TV.
I’m just going to say Mark, you’re killing it man. I was worried when you made the transition because of all the people trying to make you fail. I love what you’ve done and I think the best part is that this is a Gibson video... and they aren’t trying to shut down other brands and just embracing the history because we love them all. Thanks for this one! Been waiting on this a long long time. Wish Joe would do an updated video of the original Nerdville!
I followed mark from His vids on guitar of the day. Best thing I love about his style on interviews.. he knows heaps about guitar but shuts up after asking a question and gives the talent heaps of room to breathe. Makes for awesome clips!
I hope after this, that you do a part 2 in Nerdville West... I know we would ALL love to see that black burst... Love Gibson and their artist friends for putting these together. Cheers to Mark for being a great interviewer and knowledgable historian in his own right. Please keep these coming. Slash, Zakk, Joe Perry and Billy Gibbons would be lovely additions...
I love Joe Bonamassa. I love his playing, his personality, and his guitars. I'm gonna see him live on August 31, 2024, which is gonna be great. I hope I can play on stage with him
Love stuff like this and mad props for also showing non Gibson stuff. This kind of content represents exactly what so many of us want Gibson to be. Many thanks and great job!
I agree...it’s the STORIES and the PEOPLE behind the instruments that make it worthwhile...without that, these guitars are just stuff to toss away to time!!!!
While I've heard of him for years, I've never checked out Bonamassa's music before. That will change as soon as this video ends. Thanks to Gibson for the video and thanks to Joe for opening his home and collection up to the rest of us. His view on just being the caretaker is awesome. He seems like good people and I'm glad he calls my home state his home as well.
I'm just as enamoured with the ads, posters, signs and memorabilia. Guitarist like to be fans of products. The rca sign that appears in the background, how cool.
I dont know how anyone could hate on this guy for collecting. He keeps the history alive and keeps them preserved, when they could otherwise be lost to time.Like so many have.
ya props to gibson for not being snobby about fender, they should realize they share pretty much the same audience, great to see some mutual respect . If joe did a show on guitars, I'd watch it religiously, he's a great brand ambassador for both brands.
For folks that don't know, Terry Reid is a UK singer who was on the "short list" to be the singer for Zeppelin and then Deep Purple , both of which he turned down, so the legend goes..
And I’m back. And Seeing Robert Baker, RJ Ronquillio 👇 down there. just reinforces what I’ve been saying for years all us guitar players watch the same stuff. Ive watched all the episodes over and over. Cheers Gibson and Mark A.
Love when Joe was talking about the '59 Burst and says "This stuff is still out there, it's not all spoken for". Right, it WAS out there until guys like you and Seagal, Gilmore, Steve Miller, etc., and museums started hoarding it! And once these guys or a big time guitar shop gets their mitts on the stuff, it's priced hopelessly out of reach for the average guy. But I guess that's true of cars or butterflies or whatever else gets collected?
Joe is such a humble and amazing person!! You can see how much he loves not just guitar but the history and passion of others surrounding the instrument!!
If he hasn't already, Joe should write a record using a selection of guitars that all have a story...and write each song on it's respective guitar about its specific story. Super cool concept and since Joe's love and respect for each guitars story is so obvious...I think it would really have that extra magic to it.
