A group of Broadcasting and Film graduates have put together a documentary video about how Centennial College responded to, and managed, the COVID-19 pandemic. The idea for the project originated with Nate Horowitz, Dean of the School of School of Communications, Media, Arts and Design, who enlisted faculty member Karen Shopsowitz to bring it to fruition. Initial filming began in February, mostly on Zoom, until the group was finally permitted to film on campus in early June. The doc checked in with some individual programs, including dance, broadcasting, culinary arts and a few others. “The intention was to show how the College moved into action and how students, faculty and staff have all figured out ways to deal with this situation,” Karen says of the doc’s objectives.
“The documentary includes interviews, as well as videos produced by students and faculty through this time. We also talked to one international student about the impact this was having on her work and life, with family in another country dealing with the pandemic.” The project credits include: Colin Walker, Producer/Director; Julia Arruda, Producer; Production Manager Danuta Raposa; Jakub Wingell, Camera; Samantha Chung Sang, Editor; Robb de Rushe and Karen Shopsowitz, Executive Producer.
