The Color Challenge - Ep. 1 - Mono Black Control - MTG Arena Deck Guide and Gameplay 

I have an all-in frenzy deck which tries to cast literally your entire deck and 20's your opponent with shock and lightning strike. It also runs 2 wand of vertebrae in case you need to get some burn spells back. Seems like it would be good against the dimir deck

I was thinking exactly that. Carnage Tyrant, Momma Vraska, and Trophy are too good not to splash green. Not sure about the lockets though, shouldn't need them. I'd go 3 Karn instead of 2 to ensure more card draw and the tokens could be huge if you go that route. Josu is cool, but I'd honestly rather win with Vraska/Karn/Eldest Reborn an opponents bomb and run Carnage Tyrant instead of Josu for the control matchup.

There's what I landed on, plays really similarly but has a few more win conditions with the big Vraska, trophy for some of the removal, a Carnage Tyrant for a Josu ( I kept one because nothing feels better than kicking JV, personal pref. ), and a Findbroker to dig for whatever you might need end game. The locket definitely felt too slow, was hoping to use it as late draw but that's not really necessary, and another artifact for a Karn win con but that wasnt needed either.

@@covertgoblue Not the best deck builder out there, so take it with a grain of salt, I'd probably aim for 3 Fountains Maindeck. What I'd cut: Blood Fast seems awkward here to me, you have card draw in Karn, Treasure Map, and Encyclopedia that doesn't cost you life, so I'd cut that. -1 Cast Down (great card, somewhat situational and there's, dare I say, too much removal in the deck) the 1 Chupa doesn't seem like it does much here, so -1 Chupa (he's also a blocker, which is great, but with this much removal do we really need it?) I took this idea and used it to build a Golgari control list and I do run 4 fountains, I have to say it's HELLA strong first impression. Only gotten to play 6 matches with it so far, 2 comp constructed, 2 direct challenges to test against a fully built mono red, and two ladder first to test opening hand viability. It's 6-0 so far. So, whatever you do with the list, thanks for giving me the idea!! (Basically just trades your Doom/Josu win con for Vraska 6/Karn/Carnage Tyrant win con, the vraskas also take care of artifacts and enchantments that mono black can't reach)

In what colors? Each color has different options

@@Tsh1rt7588 considering its mono black the options are colorless or black....

More discard is always a good option. Another is more card drawing permanents.

in mono black Immortal sun is ok but probably just gets countered or nova'd. I'd run more discard, that's your best bet.

You can't have perfect matchups everywhere. If you see a full Jeskai or Esper Control with counterspells negating win conditions, Cleansing Novas against the artifacts and Field of Ruin against Memorial of Folly there will not be much to do. He just made a mono black deck proving it can go for 7 wins in arena, but he never said the deck was tier 0 having no bad matchups and answers to everything.

@@Marco..1 Basically it means to play an Esper Control deck that I really enjoy playing...but the deck did not impress nobody on Pro Tour. The competitive side is brutal unfortunately and even Jeskai or Espers with Teferi and full clears were not able to stand a chance against those swarm of Boros Weenies. As I said the deck could very well win 7 wins on mtg arena but it's very far from having perfect answers to everything. Even with Teferi and Unmoored Ego in this case as you mentioned some Jeskai or Esper Control will have way more counterspells to negate stuff.

@@Marco..1 i think early dawn of hope is good vs control deck i turn the deck onto a orzhov control and it's pretty good 4 dawn of hope and 4 fountain renewal it's draw, healing and win condition sources

I'd run 3 soot 2 demise. You actually can't have too much board clear as a control deck in the Mono meta we're looking at right now. If this splashes green for Carnage Tyrant 3x CT is all you actually need to battle other control decks. The entire rest of the deck should be tech against weenie aggro.
