I heard the book was more graphic than the original movie.

@@sincereiamNot really. The majority of the ppl who say that haven't read that book in years. You can forget alot. Young Celie says a few things about her experience with Pa. Nothing that we couldn't imagine with the original film. Old Celie talks about her relationship more in depth with Shug. Nonetheless, it wasn't anything shocking about it. Maybe in the 80s it was.

You should read it on ur free time. It gets a little boring near the end. The reader has to now follow Nettie's story. Eventually, her story becomes interesting tho.
