Hey Eric, Michael Nowicki again. I just wanted to stop by too say that me and my dad had a great time catching up with you and Lisa at the orange hall on Friday the 20th at the show. Great York video. Might want too put a tracker on that crab cake food truck ;) 🚂
Always a pleasure to listen and watch your videos, I think Lisa needs to talk to us alittle more lol. You are an inspiration to all of us when it comes to trains. I thank I speak for everyone. Thank you Eric. Keep posting cause we will watch
It was great to see you and Lisa again and I love the video blog style this year. It's hard work putting that kind of format together, but it really encompasses the journey you and Lisa had at York.
I actually came back to this vid to show the wife the diner and we’re Sheetz fans (which Eric zoomed past😅). Hopefully we’ll make it to York from Columbus Ohio one of these years. Gotta try the crab cakes!
16:55 Look at all those sweet RVs in the background. What a set up. Get the generators humming and immerse yourself in the model train game all weekend. This is the only way to roll=)
This was an awesome video, it felt very comforting just to listen to just travel stories and food amd trains. It's an A+ when that person is genuine, thank you Eric!
Ha! Super video! So cool seeing all of you together at York and at Chris’s layout. It’s definitely on our list of things we gotta do for sure. Fun video and glad you did it. All good finds. Sorry you both got sick afterwards. No good deed goes unpunished lol. Anyway enjoyed the heck out of this so thanks!
Hey Eric, was hoping to bump into you and Lisa at York Tuns out we were there at the same time. Just a side note received my switcher the other day and finally pick up you es44ac as well both are fantastic. Great job on all that you do...
As always, another great video! I have to apologize for interrupting your interview at the atlas booth. I did not realize you were recording. And being a bald guy myself I have no business making comments on your haircut. Again I’m sorry and I apologize for the interruption and comment. I always look forward for your videos, great work.
Always wanted to attend the York train meet. I'm a member of the New York Society of Model Engineers in Carlstadt NJ. Several of my fellow members attend the York meet every fall and spring. That diner looks amazing and I saw a Sheetz across from the diner as well. Every time I go to do train stuff in Pennsylvania me and my buddies always love to go to Sheetz. Awesome video and hopefully I will definitely be able to attend the next York meet.
Hey Eric great video! Was a pleasure to see and chat with you again at the show and while enjoying Chris's layout. These kinda videos are tough to make, Great overview and showcasing what the york experience is all about!
Bought the Western Maryland set as well and found that the A units inboard roller pickups causes a derail on Atlas switches. Removed both rollers from each unit and runs fine now. I will try and refit with a varied length to see if that fixes it in the future.
Glad you and Lisa had a great time at York. Someday if I ever get into the hobby I would love to attend a York train show, looks like a lot of fun and you get to meet a lot of amazing people. I would also stop by the around the clock diner too and give it a shot myself 😁. You picked some cool stuff this year at York, can't wait to see the review on all of them, especially the EF3. Great video Eric!
Eric, finally had time to watch your great video! For someone who has yet to go to York, thanks for the tour as I would feel like I know the place if I go! Question, what was the impetus to cut the hair. You were the ONLY model train person I had ever seen rocking the ponytail!
Nice video Mr. Siegel! Your introduction to the Bi-Level Gallery car surprised me. MTH had them, and apparently they are now in the hands of Atlas. I have the CNW set from MTH, but wanted the Rock Island in red. It was a very tough set to find, but thankfully Atlas has reissued them. Tell your friends at Atlas they need to do some work on their web-site. Thanks again.
Great video Eric! Looks like you and Lisa had an awesome trip!! Everyone in our great hobby needs to visit York! It is the train show of all train shows. The Round the Clock Diner is awesome. When I go to York I stay right next door at the Wingate by Wyndham. Great place!! They have free breakfast but it can not even compare to a Western Omelette at the Round the Clock Diner!!!
Glad you went with the Hot Shot set. Hoping maybe my comments to you helped sway you to it over the others while you were looking them over. It was great meeting you and talking each time in passing. York is a whirlwind and the people you meet and things available to buy make it fly by quickly. Hoping to be back next fall myself.
Next year I highly recommend cheddar's scratch kitchen right across the street from the diner! Really good food! There's also a lyndon diner down the road and a bunch of other good restaurants
Great job Eric! You and Lisa looked like you had a great time. I was there for the 1st time myself on Friday. It was quite overwhelming to see for sure! I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to meet you in person. Hopefully next time. I hope you’re feeling better now. Excellent video! Tom
Think those weathered cars midway through the video are from a shop in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. It's my LHS. I've seen them at shows up here. He does other scales as well.
Great video and recap. You brought home a great haul. I saw you a couple times but couldn't quiet get myself over to say hello. I've been into the hobby for about 3 years now and you were the first you tuber i stayed watching and getting influence from. Loved your layout and reviews. Hopefully catch you at the next one. Oh and the food looked delicious. Next time you and your wife should try Smokey Bones, great food in my pinion. Only 10 min fron the fair grounds. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Lol hitting that box well it could have been a clicking ink pen. great video so did the 6-foot-long display shelves make it back and straight? Lisa is great having a partner that enjoys the hobby as she does, has to be fun. TY
Have you ever checked out The Choo Choo Barn in Lancaster? Not far from York and a fun layout. I grew up very close to York and always went to the show as a kid. I need to make plans to attend with my dad and brother now that my brother and I have our own money to spend.
If I get my own place, I'll have my layout installed during the moving-in process so I have room to work. If I have to have a house built, it'll go in during construction so all the wires are tucked away neatly. I love trains, and I need to have a layout that works. As long as it's functional, I don't care if it looks like a kindergarten drawing.
A tip for next year: I've found wearing a mask helps prevent getting sick much more effectively than hand sanitizer. Obviously both help, but if you have to do just one, the mask is much more effective, since most viruses are transmitted by air. I've been wearing a disposable mask anytime I'm in a public indoor space since 2020, and the only times I've gotten sick are when I started to get lazy and occasionally not wear it. Amazingly, I haven't gotten COVID at all (had the flu a couple of times but always tested negative for COVID). They may be a little bit inconvenient, but in my experience at least, masks really do make a huge difference, especially in crowded indoor spaces.
Eric I probably really have it made as only live about 4 miles west of York Fair. Also eat at least once a week at Round the Clock. Enjoy your videos so much. Thanks
Brady's train outlet there in Greensburg pa..that's were I shop for trains when I have to money to buy trains and yes Brady's does do deals there not bad to deal with and I think that guy there is the dad he's the main owner I believe glad you got it off them they have some really nice stuff..and there pretty local for me only about 30 miles for me so and if I'm ever in york I'll have to try that dinner looks good .👍
@@Ericstrains York used to have a ton of food trucks. Im guessing with the drop in attendance over the years and late start time on Thursday that it’s just not worth it for them anymore. The last picture I have of the funnel cake and the the crab cake trucks are in Oct 2021. After that I think they were gone.
27:45 They made mention of wifi, but I couldn't make out the context. It would be nice if in some future episode of Eric's Trains you might visit and interview what is going on with future command and control of 3-rail O-gauge. The track-1 railroads are going lithium battery and using aerial drone influenced remote controls. Lionel O-gauge I think captured the caricature of railroading in the best preference at least for American railroad interpretations. That middle rail solves the difficulty of suppling power through typical prototypical railroad track switching situation that can't be met with simple two rail railroadlpower supply. Severing as the librarian for the Naptown railroad in Indianapolis IN (HO) about 2010 I read numerous articles of 0-gauge modelers from the 1930s-40s-50s that would switch from a center power rail to an outrigger rail such as used typically on subways so their models would have the more proper 2-rail look. That was the rigor.
Sucks having to prepare like that. Glad I live so close. Had a great time going this year. Luckily I was way under my budget. Only got a couple cars and some JT Mega Steam. Got several pre-orders coming in November/December. I'm jealous you got the Hagerstown Hotshot set! Waiting on a review! Lol it's kinda funny, York is considered a dangerous city to us small towners.
I can't believe it. You came all the way to York, and didn't even take the 20 minute drive to see the newest steam locomotive in the U.S. Lionel even has a model of it in their latest run of 4-4-0s. I don't know how to end this and make it sound sarcastic. But great video. I live nearby but I've never been able to go
I might not collect O scale stuff (no room for that in a townhouse, lol), but I'd love to check out York some day regardless. It seems like quite the time over there.
Me being a Pittsburgh native id would have driven from GA, it's about a 10-hour ride. I've been wanting to go for years to the TCA lol. Ol Mr Brady 😅 His place is 20 minutes from me. His place is huge he has 4 or 5 different buildings. But since lionel will no longer attend, that's a deal breaker for me. 😢 But i do have a lot of ross switches.
@Ericstrains I'm not a fan of flying lol 😆. If it's under a day, I'll take the drive. I lm a big fan of your videos, eric. Just wish my basement was big as yours.
Another fine film on the show...thank you Eric and Lisa. Well done ! 👍 So I'm curious...did you plan a rental car to bring your merchandise back to Georgia ? I've never been to York...the best way to save on shipping would be a very long round trip drive from my residence in Maine. I'll make it someday. 😃
Wow Eric I wish I was in York I want the UP rocket boost it comes with the Union Pacific C45ACCTE (ES44AC) or get the Norfolk Southern anniversary one I do like o scale I’m going to do both a o scale and a Ho scale everything I’m going put in my model railroad
Eric, I blew past you a few times to avoid getting into your videos. Next time you need to make a trip to the NJ Hi-Railers and the Bergen County Model Rail Road Club as that club is actually in a NJT station that’s probably 100 years old.
