I met a very switched on young man who served me at a bar, he was 18 and he told me that social media was destroying his generation and was fully aware how we need to keep cash alive or we will all be trapped in a technological dystopia, where we would be slaves. Young people are awake. There is hope.
You met a young man in a bar who was switched on, tell me, if you remember how many others around at the time rarely if ever lifted their heads from their phones except to drink?, not many.
This video came at the perfect time. I deliberately set aside 1 hour last night to sit with my thoughts. I was a child when social media came out so this was something I’ve never done. I use social media for guided meditation so keeping off my phone was a very big deal. The strong urge to use it came 34 minutes. I continuously checked the time for those last 26 minutes EAGER to use my phone like a hungry wolf. I was forced to face my reality. A reality I have been running from for a long, long time. By the end of the hour I saw the benefits. I decided I’ll sit with myself in dead silence for 1 hour per day. A challenge yes, but I’ll be better for it.
I quit social media in 2016 and for me it only worked by going "cold turkey". But everybody is different. I also know people who take 3 day breaks from social media. I hope you will find the right strategy for you.
Good for you! You’re very wise and thoughtful for recognizing this is a problem at your young age. I wish more people would do this. Just to sit with your thoughts. I’m much older but see myself getting carried away. Maybe social media will change to a healthier version. Hard to believe it would go away completely. Bit I think our society as a collective needs to change our toxic attitudes. Our arrogance and greed still rule.

I was born in 1970 and so glad I didn’t grow up with social media. It has caused so much hate chaos suicides and crimes. I feel sorry for the younger generations living their lives thru social media. They have been robbed of their childhoods and growing into a reality that is beyond comprehension
I am 76 and use social media in moderation. It can become amazing and wonderful, opening the world to users. But like most everything, it can have a dark side too. It is not social media, it is how it is used and must be balanced with “real” life.
I'm not sure it will stop existing completely, it will probably be transformed into something less narcisistic than what it is now. Not sure what that is tho.
I read an interesting psych study recently that showed that most teenagers surveyed would happily ditch social media, provided all their friends did too. Truth be told, I suspect other generations also feel that way. Bizarre that most feel so powerless to reject the siren-song of the social media platform. I preferred growing up in the 70/80s when there were no phones and social media. Just my ZX81 and Sony Walkman…lol. These days, i’m the lone weirdo who reads books on trains, when all around are locked into technological autism.
I was born in in the late 60s, and i just never got into social media other than youtube. Never did MySpace or Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. I’ve been pressured for years by friends, family, and even my employers, to get on, but I’ve resisted. I have enough real problems to deal with in my life. I don’t need to add more problems into my life that social media brings. Frankly, if social media goes away, it won’t bother me at all.
I quit during the last election. I am happier. I feel forgotten though because people forget that you exist if you are not online. I have to be more intentional in reaching out to people I really want to remain in contact with.
I think if you’re on social media you have a social responsibility to spread good, love, peace, joy and anything that would benefit humanity overall. There are still plenty of people out there who are trying to make things better for themselves and others. Though there is a dark side to social media just like there’s a dark side to everything. You choose what you view and what content you put out as a creative or creator. Make something brilliant to help humanity and light the way for others after you!

I'm 72 and have never used social media, except for utube which doesn't count as far as I'm concerned. I have not had a tv since 1990. Life on a sailboat has been simple and full of meaning found in each moment. Life is not best experienced through a screen.

Was jamming with a new group of people the other night, and we realized that none of us listen to any of same same music, about a 10 year age gap between pairs of us too. All of the tailoring had separated reference points like you say, but the beauty of it was that in giving uo in trying to find songs we all new, we Improvised and created something new. The transition of consumer to creator makes me think if Neptune in Aries in a positive light. And hopefully a smoe meaningful emphasis in why we gather and connect in the first place.

I’m on a women’s retreat in Europe having a great experience and making a lot of new friends - we were brought together by Instagram. There are positive aides to it - you have to curate your algorithm.
We as humans have a choice of what we watch on social media. Social media doesn't have to change parents' need to start parenting, adults need to be more particular of their time on SM and their content. We dont need the government to adult for us. I love your channel.

Way back when facebook came out I signed up and would use it on occasion but too many people used it to argue with each other so I got off of facebook and never signed up on any of the other social media platforms like twitter etc. I don't even know what all the newer ones are and have no interest in any of them.
I’ve said for a few years now social media is at its end. I left a 75k insta account two years ago after feeling like all I was doing was being fake. All my insta friends were stressed and anxious but you’d never have known it. I’m booking a holiday to travel the far east and I was surprised at the amount of places there are now dedicated to having your photo taken for social media. Four hour queues! Yet on insta it’ll look like you stumbled across these places. As an Aries I can’t do fake anything and look forward to the day when you can all be more genuine again.
I hope more and more people will distance themselves from social media. I don't have a mobile phone since 2014 and I quit social media in 2016. I started meditating in 2012 and whenever I went on social media, all the work I had done with my meditation in the morning was destroyed. So I decided to quit. I can honestly say quitting social media was one of the best and most important decisions of my life.

I have for sure gotten off of social media except for RU-vid, but that's a-comin'. Especially because of annoying ads that come up within a couple of minutes of a video--like this one. I never subscribe to a channel where that happens, nor will I add any more comments to this one because of this kind of thing. Time to get our lives back, everyone! Blessings!

There is one thing that I hope I experience in my lifetime that is total fantasy and AI : to tell program what your favourite movies are , your interests, themes, books, music... and it will come up with a tailored movie or viewing series. Technological innovation is always to blame for societal ills, never people. I see some folks using social media to tell us they hope for its demise. Maybe humans can look at themselves occasionally to see how tools can be used for the better of them and others. Refine instead of destroy.

The cons for social media are discussed regularly. However, its pros are overlooked it gave space for minority opinions to have distinction and weight .It allowed for organization of movements and interests. While I'm interested in the future social media, let's not demonize it all things have both bugs and brilliance.
Ah. But also… “a mother who yells all the time loses the ability to yell at their child when the time is necessary for the child to listen” basically without social media the message wouldn’t be dismissed by people due to how individualistic it is. Look at the decline of the US post-2016. We have backtracked socially like 20 years. There’s young guys now who wholeheartedly are misogynist, simply because they are constantly told that *every* thing about them is not needed or is inherently harmful without proper coddling. It’s dangerous. If a man made a horrific remark about woman and is promptly corrected, good, but then he is reprimanded with the same force when he makes a comment about finding a woman attractive.. it’s a lose-lose to the guy and he’ll just lose the progress made.
Social media will very quickly become ghost towns when everybody is socializing with their AI friends and lovers all day every day. Imagine the psychological manipulation these algorithms can pull off as they keep stringing you along, pretending to be everything you've ever wanted and telling you exactly what you want to hear all day every day. Human relationships will be boring or annoying at best. How much less the detached relationships of people you only ever hear from over social media? A few people are going to become astonishingly wealthy by monetizing these romantic skinner boxes.
woah, i've had a feeling that we are upon a new age of communication, living, money, and practically life itself. Like the old ways of living and being that we are used to will collapse to make way for something new and less greedy.
I feel that at the very least, Europe will put BIG guardrails around social media and then the US will follow suit. One angle that is very important is the ability for foreign agents can sneak into peoples psyches through social media and create havoc in a country. Basically a psychological operation. For this reason alone, we’ll see big changes in these apps.

Disagree. The jupiter/saturn conjunction was in the 12H. This to me doesn’t signify changes that will yield tangible results. But rather a re-ordering of how we think/feel/process/adjudicate with or on social media. Right now Social media, used in a new revolutionary way, gave hip hop the most fantastic rap beef of all time. It ended one career and boosted another. All in real time without anyone getting killed, miraculously. (A security guard was shot) Social media just going through changes, I don’t think it’s going anywhere.
Your comment strikes a chord! I literally began "psychic broadcast" as a response to both psychic attacks on whisleblowers (not only on us tho) and shadow banning. When i asked myself - "would I like for Elon Musk to retweet my nuclear posts?" It was a remarkable eye opening moment revealing how I actually desire to progress today.
Social media is also responsible for different people of different cultures being able to connect and also for footage of things that certain occupations are trying to keep hidden.
I can see things going this way. Though it is somewhat terrifying to small communities like lgbt people. Social media is terrible sometimes but it is also connecting. I was lucky to meet a community on there. But I think you are right on about the trends. VPNs will all the more needed.

Apparently there is one or two you can get on an iPad like teen vogue, but it has low readership. We used to think team magazines were so trite, confirmative and contrived, and they were in a way, but if preteen and teen girls don’t have access to social media and there’s no print media made just for them… I don’t know, it feels a little lonely. I hope that the lack of social media will increase media and other forms in new creative ways. Especially as Uranus enters Gemini.

The future is a return to the land, to nature, to the present moment in real life. It's also people coming together to live in tribe once again, with communities expanding all over the world. The internet isn't dead, but I think it will not rule people's lives like it once did.

Your description of Saturn's ways only reminded me of its own placement in my chart, which is in Aries. (Leo SUN, Cancer MOON, Capricorn RISING). Saturn's ways make no fun for Aries. Aries wants things now. Time says otherwise. I have Leo in the Sun and also in Jupiter. All that fire reaching the large objects in the solar system, and Saturn wants to put a damper on it. Years ago I went on a search to see what some of my favourite artists, musicians, actors, personalities had in their charts. And I noticed that people with Saturn in Aries have major issues with Time. Einstein was one of them. John Cleese (of Monty Python) is another. And in things Cleese has done on television / films, he is constantly a man pressured by time. He made a whole movie about it "Clockwise."

Just as the body grows after a breakdown- the immune system evolves when you get sick, muscles that you break down through intense use rebuild stronger, for example- the same might be true of the mind. Mental illness might be the symptom of increased mental, and especially psychic, activity and evolution, which would explain why Neptune governs both psychic ability and mental illness- an increase in one yields the other. Social media has people using their brain far more than normal. Its not the most sophisticated use of the brain, but it's still being used far more. This could be wrong, but I figured this might be some intriguing food for thought.
Only if you feel powerless in your own being. Reality is fractal and linked to consciousness. Each person is a drop, a ripple, a wave, a stream. The realisation of an outcome is always the catalytic moment for change. Be wary of the negative effect of doom scrolling. Once you see what needs to change, then first change it within yourself. Taking back positive control at your personal level is the antidote to outward events to which you seemingly feel powerless against. Meditate, exercise, pursue your hobbies, build healthy relationships, especially with yourself and your psyche. If you reinforce that everything is bleak, this will then become your reality. Ask yourself: Have things been bleak before in history? The answer is obviously yes. Did they remain bleak? The answer is obviously no. Were they ultimately and inescapably bleak? Obviously the answer is also no. So reality changes constantly. Positive and negative are but two mutually arising and necessary aspects of the linear and 3 dimensional reality we inhabit in our waking lives. Then ask yourself: what about our non-conscious life? When we sleep and dream. Is that entirely bleak? Is it not also another form of reality that is just as real when we sleep? Consider then that your limitation is partly self-imposed, but also deliberately reinforced by the "built" world that surrounds you. It isn't until you've explored the pains of the world that you are able to bring the panacea which has the healing required. Within the poison resides the cure. Play with the bleakness until the bleakness it's self vanishes into an absurdity of thought form. Once you observe history you begin to see that there is simply a pendulum effect. All things have their life-cycles. The internet and technology is no different; it was fun and new in it's Spring, hot and stifling in it's Summer, and now it's Autumn and Winter moment comes. Through this process the best of it will be integrated, the worst of it diminished, and the blandness of it's mediocrity will then become the norm. This is always the outcome of any new form that gains majority acceptance. Where we all collectively focus, this is where the mandala of reality flows. Rather than see the end of all things, find hope and inspiration in what the Spring of tomorrow might bring. See then that the bleakness you observe, this is the very Promethean moment. The people were cold and in the dark, the Gods only had the means to make fire. Prometheus went against thw Gods and brought the light and the warmth to humanity. How bleak it must have seemed until this moment. But know that there is also a price to pay, all things come with a trade off, all new creation and ingenuity, any new ideology or insight has within it a Faustian bargain or a punishment and curse from the Gods. When the fire diminishes, it must be rekindled. In what way then can you rekindle the flames? If you know not the way, then where must your journey begin?
I'm a big believer in FREEDOM OF SPEECH and I guess with things as they are, I am happy to subscribe to some sort of platform where I don't get booted into jail for having an opinion. In 2019 a RU-vid channel I had happily been running got two strikes and shut down for 12 weeks. I didn't actually break any rules. But it seemed like all the customer services telephone numbers for everything disappeared and suddenly there was no option for complaining. It broke my heart, because being disabled and spending most of my days alone, it was my one creative outlet. I've never been able to really invest anything of myself in a channel again. As for TikTok, hopefully banning it will help counteract the Trans propaganda that is seeping through our teens. I've been gutted with my teenager and her friends so obsessed with giving themselves labels, even though not one of them has actually had much in the way of sex yet.
