When you apply figurative language to Revelation especially chapters 20-22, you will come up with so many symbolic or figurative interpretations. Three persons who will apply figurative approach to a certain passage in Revelation will result into 3 different interpretations regarding the non-literal understanding of it. Now, who among the three has the right one. Furthermore, who will be the arbiter to say which one of the 3 figurative interpretations is correct. The literal-grammatical-historical approach is right approach. 1, 000 years is 1,000 years (mentioned at least 6 times in Rev. 20), 2 witnessess are two witnessess., 7 churches are 7 churches. Assigning symbolical/ figurative meanings to these obvious literal statements is simply non sense and being unfaithful to the texts. “When the literal sense makes sense use no other sense.” Applying figurative or symbolic meanings in the texts of Revelation can only be done when the literal sense won’t make sense. The Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:1-3; 13:14-18). Wwill be fulfilled to the fullest because God is faithful to His covenat promise to Israel. The kingdom of God is literal kingdom on earth where Christ will rule on the throne of David. I believe in the restoration of Israel in the future. Never the nation will be replaced by the church. The church will have its mission to spread the gospel after which, God will address His concern and promise to Israel.
