Since it came out, Indonesia has changed the saying that.After the media came out that Korea's GaN device's AESA radar was superior to Israel's GaAs device's AESA radar, Indonesia changed it to saying that it doesn't pay because it doesn't provide the technology.

You can't claim that unless you can provide information on that. Again what is the RCS of the KF21? The Tejas Mk2 and later deliveries will have cutting edge GaN AESA radar. The Tejas RCS is 0.3m2 due to radar absorbent composite structure on 95% of its surface and radar absorbent coating on the rest. The Tejas Mk2 has a smaller RCS than Tejas Mk1A. There is a reason KF21 isn't called a 5th gen fighter. If you cannot provide definitive data on the KF21, then you are talking out of your rear end. One thing is for sure. The AMCA for which the prototype construction has just started is a true 5.5 gen aircraft. The prototype will fly with F414 98kN engines like the KF21, and the production models will fly with F414 EPE 116 kN engines for supercruise and will have some 6th gen features.

How you come to know that UTTAM AESA radar is not better than kf21 radar? Tejas is a light combat aircraft with single engine hence can not be compared. But upcoming TEDF ,ORCA, AMCA can be compared.

There is a difference in weight to simply classify it as a 4.5th generation fighter. The material of AESA radar is gallium nitride in Korea and arsenic nitride in India. This means that even with the same AESA radar, the performance of each output device is different. In addition, the KF-21 has already been directly mentioned by Kai and the Korean government as a fighter with scalability up to 5.5 generations. In other words, the two fighters have a difference in weight class - performance difference - even a difference in expandability. I have no intention of slandering India's Tejas fighters. However, in reality, the comparison should be compared with the same light fighter. That said, the Tejas should be compared to the FA-50 Block20. Because, based on the FA-50 Block 20, it is equipped with an F414 single-engine engine and AESA radar. Fighter weights are pretty much the same. In addition, medium-range ARMAAM missiles are also integrated as AESA operations become possible.

But tejas mk2 is superior cuz it has missile approach warning system and much deadly weapon package like brahmos cruise missile (currently the fastest and the best anti ship missile in the world,developed by India and Russia) , Rudram anti radiation missile (developed by India), astra mk2&3 with range of 160km and 350km whereas Kfx's meteor comes with range of 160km. MAWS are very crucial cuz it alerts you when a infrared missile starts tracking you. Also kfx don't have any internal weapon station so you can't call it 5th gen but 4.5 gen. And talking about fa50 It is no way close to the tejas mk2 but you can compare it with tejas mk1.

Its not that stealthy.. its weapon packages are still fixed outside unlike f35. More over they haven't made any aircraft by doing R&D they just assembled the fighter plane taking different part from diff countries. Indian could have done it easily..we already make SU 30 MKI in our own country under licence production except the engine.. so yeah it will take 5-6 more years but India is going to have self dependent in this field

KF-21 has ultra-modern platform that will support 6th gen fighters in the future. Tejas looks like 2nd gen fighters like Dassault Mirage or Delta Dart.

Tejas Mk1A has been flying without even minor incident since first flight bin 2001 and has been in service without incident since 2016 in its Mk1 IOC variant. Mk1A is Mk1 with different avionics system so it is fully developed. Tejas Mk1A is new only in that it is only now being offered for export. It is also not really a competitor to the KF21, although both are 4.5 gen because it is much smaller and vastly cheaper than the KF21. Tejas Mk2 (also 4.5 gen) will use an F414-400 (F414 EPE) 116kN engine (a next gen variant of the F414 98kN engine used in KF21). It uses all the technology and subsystems that are in Tejas Mk1A - so all of those are developed and proven, except the new GaN version of the Uttam radar which is completed but still under testing, and the F414-400 engine is still being developed by the US for the US Navy Super Hornet upgrade, but should be available soon (the Tejas Mk2 and AMCA prototypes will use the same F414 98kN engines used in the KF21) but these will use the as yet unavailable F414-400 116kN in initial production aircraft. These will be replaced in later variants by engines India is co-developing a new core engine for 5th and 6th gen aircraft with a under venture with either Safran or Rolls Royce (soon to be signed once final negotiations are concluded). The engine and not the maturity of the other technology is what has been delaying the Tejas Mk 2 and the 5th gen AMCA programme to date, because the availability date for of the F414-400 engine was uncertain. Nevertheless the Tejas mk2 prototype will under construction and will be rolled out by the end of this year, and the 5th gen AMCA prototype is under construction, and should be rolled out sometime in 2023 with first flight in 2024. Both the Tejas Mk2 and AMCA programmes seem to be more advanced than the KF21 since there seems to be technology transfer issues for the KF21 and the work share still needs to be agreed.

KF-21 is more larger than both Grippen NG and Tejas mk2. KF-21 is between Grippen NG and lagacy Hornet and unlike Grippen and Tejas, KF-21 is a twin engined aircraft. I think true competitor of KF-21 is french made Dassault Rafale. Both are similar size twin engined aircraft and targeting same countries. Both Dassault and KAI want to sell their fighter jets for countries can’t buy either US made or Russian made aircrafts by political issues.

F-35 is in a totally different market. F-35s will be lot more expensive. F-35s are also notorious for its maintenance costs. Even the US Airforce is cutting back on F-35 purchases and extending the tenure of its F-16s and F-15s because of F-35s maintenance costs. How many countries do you think can even afford the F-35s? There are plenty of articles written about the potential appeal of Boramae for countries that can't purchase the F-35s due to political and/or cost reasons. There already is space allocated for internal weapons bay. F-22 Raptor does the same thing. It can be configured to have external hardpoints to carry more firepower, or configured without external hardpoints to be full stealth. Korea is doing the same thing. Start off with Gen 4.5 with external hardpoints to carry lots of firepower, then upgraded to full Gen 5 later. The structure is already there. They aren't dumb. Actually, it's genius.

It's Tejas mk-1 which is comparable to FA 50 not Tejas mk 2 even Tejas MK1-A which is advance version of Tejas mk-1 has so many advancement which FA 50 lacking right now for example inflight refueling probe, speed and radar. Infact you can say FA 50 is more like a trainer aircraft whereas Tejas mk1A is light combat aircraft. Still if you have any doubt than please check the details of both aircraft.

FA-50 is a trainer with some weapons. Tejas may not be great but its a fighter.

Ironically, the AMCA project was adopted in the same way as the KF-21. It is a twin power speculation that it will be developed first with 4.5 generations and then go beyond the 5th generation. Still, why compare it to a fighter with a single engine and a lower weight class? Even the MK.2 is a paperplan fighter.

Recently IAF announced immediate retirement of entire Mig21 (1200 acquired, 400 lost, so around 800). 86 Tejas Mk1 is sufficient to replace 800 Mig21? Tejas Mk1 exchange rate is 9-10 : 1 against Mig21? Or why is IAF not replacing it closer to 1-2 : 1 as planned initially? Also why discussing purchasing Rafael? There are people who are much mire familiar to the Tejas development issues than me but even to the untrained person like me, Tejas is not a great option against Pakistani F16 or Chinese J series. KF21 was initially intended to replace F16 Block 50/52 and the comparison needed against J series. We respect India but as a friend, we discuss issues constructively.
