I wonder what character they'll write out next: Fat Tony because he gives the impression of Italian-Americans as being involved with the mafia? Krusty because he's Jewish and also greedy for money (a well-known Jewish stereotype)? Groundskeeper Willie for being a Scottish stereotype?
He was not actually written out, his voice actor has just stepped down, also Matt Groeing and the team said that they are going to bring him back and is said that in season 34.
I love Apu. He's such a fun, well-rounded, and surprisingly developed background character. I understand why they retired his character, but I really wish they had just recast him to be voiced by someone of Indian descent. Anyway, great video.
@@cannibalisticrequiem Simmer down snowflake...I'm Scottish and Grounds-keeper Willy stereotypes Scots a million times harsher than they did Indians with Apu. I mean Willy lives in a damn shack, is an alcoholic, stupid, and eats rats...and you don't see us getting our panties in a bunch. There's also Mob boss fat Tony and Chef Luigi who stereotype Italians. Cletus who stereotypes Southerners (they made him incestuous for God's sake lol), Bumble bee man, and so many more. The show is a cartoon based on stereotypes...thats what makes it great.
@@cannibalisticrequiem get off your high horse I never said I decide what's offensive to other people White or not 🤦, grounds keeper Willie is a horrendous stereotype of Scottish people but it doesn't offend me because it's a fictional character in an animated cartoon comedy.
@@cannibalisticrequiem i have tons of Indian friends and they have no problem with Apu. The thing is people like you are mad because he has an Indian accent and works at a convenience store and say tHaTS a sTerEOtyPe. Stop whining because most people in the Simpsons are stereotypes and its not like Apu is a one note character and his only trait is Indian he has a personality but since people with brain of a 4 year old complained an actual good character may be gone forever. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
About time Apu got some love! The whole controversy with his character is ridiculous, he is not a 2 dimensional stereotype. Throughout the series he has a fairly detailed story arc, and is a better developed and deeper character than A LOT of his live-action counterparts from series and films.
Yeah it feels like they scrapped his whole character whereas they could just get him a new voice actor like what they've done with Carl, dr hibbert and other black and non white characters
Pc culture is cancer They make apu a background character because an antisemic pc baby bitch who’s call himself a “comedian” because he got offended by the best side character in the show. Apu is not an indian stereotype he’s an american dream
And those 64 children would've each had 8 kids and that would've led to overpopulation. This is why we spay/neuter our pets. Wish it was that easy for humans.
I had nothing but respect for Apu growing up. Hardworking, compassionate, and above all a good friend. Even though he had an affair after he broke it off Apu worked hard to win back his wife's love and trust, and that's rare to find in people nowadays.
apu has the honor of delivering my favorite quote ever from the simpsons; it's an exchange between flanders & apu. it is as follows: Flanders: They can be a real handful... of joy. Apu: Shut up. Flanders: They'll fill your lives with... Apu: Just shut up. Flanders: [quickly] Can't put a price on a miracle! Apu: I can't believe you don't shut up! got homer once the same way too, i believe. i giggle every time. hank azaria's delivery kills me. love your content, by the way. ♡
5:34 - If I were Homer I'd be more outraged at the $362.19 for only 40 hours of work as a safety inspector but I don't work at a power plant myself so correct me if I'm just overthinking it and yes I know it's just a cartoon but I'm just curious.
I GREW UP A SIMPSONS FAN, I STILL WATCH THE SIMPSONS AT 34! I LOVE THE RIDE AT UNIVERSAL. APU I TRULY FELT BAD FOR HIM, WITH THE LOTUS FLOWER. HAHA!! BUT THINGS TURNED OUT GREAT FOR HIM, HE IS LIVING WHAT SOME WOULD CALL THE DREAM LIFE HE OWNS HIS OWN BUSINESS, HAS A BEAUTIFUL WIFE AND A WONDERFUL FAMILY. WHAT MORE CAN A MAN ASK FOR!
doesn't make sense for that to be his head because you can see he turned grey when he was old and the head looks younger than he does before he was old
Remember though the heads are locked to a specific time. When you drink the fluid in the jar, you get taken back to sometime when the head was famous. When the Futurama crew drank the fluid in George Washington's head jar, they went back to the American revolution, decades before Washington died.
Let’s not forget that he was a member of the B Sharps, which is a real life reference to The Plaids. Sadly the Plaids were killed by a bus full of nuns and schoolgirls. Forever Plaid documents this well and it’s one of my favorite musicals !
I get them wanting to change the voice actor to one matching his race. I don't think it's needed but I get it, it's fine. But axing him for being an offensive stereotype is rubbish because he isn't; maybe at the start he was (who wasn't) but he became a well rounded character with depth and development long ago. He's admirable in that he works hard, cares about animals, cares about his community (e.g. volunteer firefighter in his space time) and has both a sporty artistic side to him (the Pin Pals and the B Sharps and Covercraft.) They got rid of him to shut-up the complaints of people who don't watch the show anyway.
My Grandmother was of Indian heritage Actually And I find Apu the most relatable Character of all I'm sad too see him go Just because of stereotypes Evn though The simpsons is full of Stereotypes there was a bowling team called the stereotypes lol
Came over to America to be an IT Madger ended up being GOD of The Kwicky-Mart nice. Have you done Principle Skinner yet ?. Respect and keep up the epic work.
I think we should have a video on the sarcastic shop man with the moustache. What is his deal? Is he a clone? A workaholic? Or are we under a collective gas hallucination and we all see this man everywhere?
Apu may not be one of the main characters, but is definitely underrated I really enjoyed his time on the show and it's such a pity that his voice actor left 😪😬🤥😒
Would’ve been better if you went year by year like “in 2002 *insert a facts about Apu” cause it’s literally in chronological order. This is a good video but kinda everywhere at the same time
I would have made Apu the mayor. He has a college education, no felony record, and Mayor Quimby hasn't aged well as JFK's mannerisms are mostly forgotten.
Being kept in the hall of heads must mean he accomplished something huge. My theory: apocalyptic war, all hope seems lost until the Kwik-E army arose. His descendants, octuplets upon octuplets. Wave after wave. They reclaimed the planet from like aliens or whatever. So fierce was his bloodline, his head was preserved.
