Me and my brother are both autistic, and I’m so glad that my dad was nothing like Chris’ parents. This is more of a cautionary tale, and this whole story is a mix between funny and psychological horror. I think the “Chris was misdiagnosed” idea is meant to say it was a mistake to diagnose Chris as “high functioning” as his autism truly transcends all explanation.

@@Optimegatrongodzilla I was going to comment on this. The misdiagnose thing is probably just saying he was more savior than originally thought. When I got diagnosed semi recently I was explaining they don't use High and low functioning terms anymore because it doesn't properly explain and or wasn't a good way of diagnosis. An example is someone who can't be in charge of their own finances because they don't understand money but can do basic math, read (usually above a certain grade level just depending on the year), and write they might be able to be diagnosed as high functioning. This use to effect the resources they can get and they might be more trusted with stuff they shouldn't. So now it's Autism Spectrum Disorder (1-3). Chris is definitely autistic but I think he needs a Pay E person and a case worker to help him manage stuff like money. Note not all autistic people are bad with money or will ever need a case worker but it's important we recognize the ones that do and help them. And not use the ones who need more help as an excuse to put someone who isn't as bad and make them go into programs they don't need or trying to get legal rights over them so you can take their money.

got done watching this 5 hour bohemeth over the course of the past few days. i really think chris-chan perfectly encapsulates "people can't change unless they want to change" mentality better then anyone else. no matter how much kindness and patience people will show them they will always abuse it be mean and not listen to any of their advice or what they have to say.

When I was in the 6th grade some kid in the special ed class pulled the fire alarm, me being annoyed I said some mean stuff about whoever pulled the fire alarm (at the time I didnt know it was a special ed child) my math teacher who also worked in the special education department kindly explained to me that some people are born different and how the kid who pulled the fire alarm was autistic, she encouraged me to go home and do research about how autism works and how people live their lives with the disorder. For some reason, I dont think she meant this

Having High Functioning Autism basically means that aside from Social Interactions, you’re basically a normal person & possibly even more intelligent than the average neurotypical individual. I refuse to believe Chris Chan is high-functioning at all. I, for one, am high-functioning. And the last time I checked, Sonic the hedgehog is a fictional character that does not exist in real life, I have actual friends, and I do not believe myself to be Jesus reincarnated. I do however have some… strange social skills and depression and anxiety but nothing too bad. Now obviously, autism is a spectrum so it’ll be different for everyone, but Chris was diagnosed in a time where the understanding of mental disorders like autism was still very limited. Maybe at the time he was considered “high-functioning” but in retrospect he’s boarding on medium-low functioning, and with literally everything about his life compiled onto that it just makes it trillions of times worse.
