2 years ago to the day, Call of Duty Warzone launched. For better or for worse, Warzone put Call of Duty back on the map. Having considered “peaked” during the golden years of Modern Warfare 2 to Black Ops 2, perhaps 3, Call of Duty hadn’t had the same numbers in years past, but with the introduction of Modern Warfare 2019, things started to look up and then… Lightning struck. Call of Duty Warzone was released free to play for all players on March 10th, 2020. Shortly after, a global pandemic sent the world into lockdown and for many, Warzone was that escape that they needed, and player numbers soared, initially breaking the 72-hour player count record sitting at 15 million players after just three days and a month later the game eclipsed 50 million players. To date, over 100,000,000 accounts have logged into Warzone and since then, we’ve seen plenty of fundamental changes, additions and more made to Warzone.
