Love the cheap Bunnings bin in the bag. I’ll be doing that tomorrow. 40L water bags are perfect, just carry 2-3 of them and if you know you’re off grid for longer, fill them as needed, don’t take much room when stored empty.

We are getting the same MRT canopy fitted to our '11 DC Luxxie this Thursday...We're both amped for it. Going from tubs in the tub holding everything to a canopy is going to be a game changer for us.

Thank you - we’re loving it and it’s been very good to us 😀. That’s an Off-road Animal Scout rack - it’s the only one we could find that only added 90mm height (so the tent didn’t have to be mounted ridiculously high to clear it)

Loving the videos guys, very entertaining and informative. I'm in the process of setting up my own D-Max and have a lot of questions. But the one I will ask here is, with your uhf antenna on the roof rack, where did you run the cable in to the cab?

Sorry for the late reply mate! 😀. We ran the cable from the roof, down the side of the windscreen (through some D-cell foam tube that’s stuck to the windscreen to keep it tidy), then through the firewall into the passenger footwell, and then into the centre console area where the UHF’s box is mounted out of sight. The coax cable that the UHF comes with is pretty long - more than enough to do what we did.

G’day! Hmm..I’m not too sure why it’s not listed on the MRT website, but as far as we know it should definitely be a product that you can order and purchase now. I just checked our order paperwork, and that unit’s code is listed as ‘MSXF500’ - X-Series Modular Unit 500mmx500mmx760mm with 1 x Shallow Drawer + 1 x Deep Drawer. If you called your local MRT store they should be able to give you a price and more info on them :)

Looks great, do you pack the awning away each night to access the tent? Or use the other ladder you mentioned. Do you think a 180 would be better or an awning with a zippered cut out?

Thanks so much! 😊 We typically do pack the awning up every night however this isn’t really a big deal for us as this one in particular is so quick to pack up and we would probably do this even with a 180 just so we don’t have to worry about sudden changes in weather/crazy unexpected wind overnight. If we really want to keep it up overnight ie. if it’s raining then we will use the side ladder yes 👍 I guess it comes down to what works for you - those zipper cut out options could work well especially if you didn’t have space to carry an extra ladder. I’m not sure we would ever go back to a 180 awning though, the size of the coverage and increased ‘living area’ that the 270 gives us has been absolutely amazing! Real game changer for us 😊

@@007oliu don't have to pack ur awning away.there is a hack video on RU-vid showing how to strap it down to enable rear access to ur tent. Easy as you use a ratchet strap.

We did actually yes! We weighed the full setup during our first few days on the road when it was fully loaded with groceries and everything, and it came in at about 3400kg, including us two. So we definitely can’t collect any heavy souvenirs 😂.

We do :) we just have one of those foldable camp toilets which slides nicely down the side of one of our adjustable modular shelving units (as it’s not flush up against the canopy wall - we purposely left a little space for some storage)

Great question - We totally forgot to cover this in the video 🤦🏼‍♂️. We just have a 2 burner gas stove that we store in the rear trundle/ under tray drawer. 😀

We usually look for them at Visitor Information Centres in each town we visit. They usually have them - but local post offices and souvenir shops often do too 😀

We keep our clothes in cubes on the back seat - one side each. And then the footwell has the footwell water tank in it. We also have seat back organisers on the back of each seat for our smaller bits and pieces.

G’day! We bought it online from the ‘Rogue Canopies’ website. The bracket and fan is just mounted with double sided tape - it’s staying on no worries. (We just made sure the surface was very dry first and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol)😀

😂😂 I’m sorry to disappoint, but we are still with you in the crazy packing cube world. So yep, they’re on the back seat in a cube - one side each. We do use Bush Company zip up clear top canvas bags WITHIN each clothes box to organise things better (because it has a tendency to get messy when you have to dig around!), and that works well. But we don’t have any revolutionary ideas for this one 😂. Please let us know if you come up with any amazing ideas.

@@BorderlandExplorers 😂 looks like we are living in good company, albeit crazy hehe. It’s something that stumps me. We have a toddler too, so another five sets of outfits to our one per day, and it’s been a tad hectic 🤣 I have asked in forums and the best advice I got was “roll your clothes so they don’t crinkle” but we aren’t even at the stage of worrying if things are crinkled 🤣🤣 #whataluxury

Collapsible bags that can hang vertical or lay flat, they have dividers as well , , handles double them as a suitcase when packing. Leave them on the back seat also. Only place I’ve seen them are on the Ultimate Camper website.

Thanks for being honest. I love the idea of this full time travel but the 0-5 yrs with clothes laundry (& ongoing wet bed linen changes) makes stick & bricks laundry access golden. I would probably go where my child wears birthday suit / same 2 or 3 sun protection swimmers. And looking into elimination communication (part time or up to full time) could possibly help with less diapering. And lowering expectation of child being clean…many a happy kid is very dirty much of the time. Big respect to those travelling with youngins. Each child/parent relationship is unique and has varying needs/phases of needs.

@@kenbrand2123 Sorry, gotcha! We forgot to mention this. At 7:40 in the video, you can just see the feet of the fold up camp chairs - on top of the big drawer, just next to that black bag that Matt is pointing near. They're just two standard size chairs, nothing TOO big.
