Some redditors brought up how the last scene could be interpreted differently: If Amon can sense other people moving with his bloodbending (big if), then he felt his brother reach for the glove and let it happen knowing they deserved it, and that's why he shed a tear.

@@dianputra7336 in TLOK they restarted the avatar cycle, not destroyed it. So, there’s still an opportunity for the next avatars after Korra. They just will not be able to reach out for any other avatar but Korra. Moreover, humanity just can’t dump the history and forget about the previous avatars. There might be a spin-off about, say, avatar kuruk. So, yeah, the avatar fandom is quite in a bad condition, but there’s not really a clear end for the universe either. Let’s hope for the best

The voice of Hama is the same one who does Avatar Yangchen as well as Dot on Animaniacs, Tress MacNeille. Which is as mind blowing as the fact that the voice of Azula is the same one who did Wubbzy and Frida from El Tigre, Grey DeLisle. Who also did the voice of Katara's and Sokka's mother. Goes to show you how amazing and talented voice actors are

Bloodbending, although seemed very dangerous, is one of the most powerful bending ability that has ever discovered. Waterbenders have all this ability, just like what Hama said, its in them, they just don't know how to usher it and use it. This technique requires years, and once mastered, has the most severe impact over its victims. But can we all appreciate its beauty? I mean, this sounds evil but, i see this as a beautiful art of bending that has the ability to control another person. If and only if, mastered by a responsible water bender, bloodbenders are aces of republic city's team of elite police force that can be used when things really goes worse. Anyways, yup thats all

Even though Hama discovered bloodbending, a similar technique was discovered by Huu in Book 2, episode 4 The Swamp. Where he can bend the water in plants. I think they both discovered these abilities at the sametime, without being aware of each other. Nonetheless, the principles are the same. The only difference between them two, is that Huu can bend plants without a full moon, and while Hama thought it is only possible on a full moon, Yakone proved otherwise. Secondly, Huu uses this form to protect the swamp and during Black Sun. While Hama (later Yakone) use it for personal vendetta and advances. In a way I feel like Huu is underappreciated as a contributor of this form of bending. Though both deserve credit for this discovery.

anyone ever considered that Amon might've been the writers' interpretation of Anonymous? His name, organization, and the mask motif are kind of obvious in my opinion, so I'm hoping I'm not the only one that noticed. At the very least, it seems one of the wiki's editors noticed his similarity to V from V for Vendetta... so I'll take that as "close enough"

That's- What video did you watch? I... I don't think that's what they said at all. They were looking for water benders in general because there was a possibility they could possess the power Hama had. Hama was already an old woman. If they were looking for Hama, presenting the actual waterbender (a little girl) wouldn't have... The timeline you're describing makes no sense.

Katara's Mom died to protect Katara. During Hama's time, all waterbenders of the Southern Water tribe were all arrested and imprisoned so that water tribe can't impose threat to Fire Nation for Sozin's plan. But fortunately, Kya (Katara's mom) conceived a waterbender which happens to be Katara; she is the only waterbender by that time because all the waterbenders were arrested during Hama's timeline. That's the reason why she is also eager to learn waterbending because there's no bender left to teach her. Remember the scene she stole the waterbending scroll to teach Aang and herself. And she desperately ask Pakku (Northern water bender and a white lotus member) to teach her waterbending too along with Aang. Due to her innate talent in waterbending, she easily mastered waterbending instead of the avatar himself. The reason why Pakku appointed Katara to continue the lesson of Aang in waterbending because Pakku already considered Katara to be a waterbending master after the short training.

Maybe in the next Avatar series, they'll have bonebending where you can break and rearrange the bones in people's bodies and electricitybending where you can bend the electric activity in people's bodies. ATLA had bloodbending while LoK had airbending from the lungs.

@@Caroline-vo8zg I expect that she was sent over (along with any other prisoners) back to the SWT after the end of the war as part of the reconstruction process.....and ended up training more bloodbenders, leading to bloodbending becoming widespread, hence why it had to be made illegal (at least in the United Republic).

A great series will not only entertain its audience to the core, but is also able to sprinkle/if not dump such moral values that the society can learn, how unnecessary wars take responsibility in shaping the later society and generations. If you think about it, its safer than attacking your opponent with deadly ice spikes and water whips. At least your opponent, or the agressor wont get hurt. Not the bending is immoral but the bender can be

Bloodbending sounds awesome. An average male weighs about 70kg with 42kg being water. By confrolling that water you wont hurt your aggressor. You could resolve every conflict without really endanger someone, like by instead throwing an ice block or waterwhip someone. Its the most pacifistic bending ever. And all the medicinal advantages...
