The 15th Anniversary is still a stand out for me, There was so much going on that year and "Classic" EPCOT Center was fully open. '89 & '90 were the last two years you got new things without losing old things... and it's funny how many times you mention "video arcades" in this, they were huge in the 80's and early 90's, they even added modern video games to the Main Street Penny Arcade in it's final years which was kind of disappointing
I'm such a hypocrite. I won't go to the theater for any movie over 2 hours long, but I'll sit here and watch 4.5 hours of WDW history knowing that this is only PART ONE with 4.5 more hours of content to go.
It makes perfect sense if you ask me. Going out to the theater takes more effort while here you are in the comfort of your own home, can pause at any moment and pick back up later if you choose. Also it's free so overall it's about convenience.
Do not disregard your ability to pause whenever you want to, get up and stretch, go to the bathroom whenever you want to, drink and eat whatever you want to, without paying ridiculous prices, and MOSTLY, NOT HAVING TO DEAL WITH SELFISH ARROGANT A=HOLES LOOKING AT THEIR PHONES DURING THE WHOLE FILM. THAT{s what stopped us from going, and the theaters NOT enforcing their policies…the others before that are very mild compared to the phone issue. It has ruined the theater.
I'm only half way through! As a 76yrs young, complete Disneyphile, I've been transported back to a moment in time. How wonderful that all of the begginings, and transformations, have been documented for today's generation. And yes, I was lucky enough to ride the 'original' Figment ride in '98. This was my first visit to WDW, prior to that I was fortunate to visit DL on many occasions. Firstly in '71 and many other visits during the 70's. I'm from the UK and had a friend who emigrated to LA. At that time I also had relatives in SF, so many reasons to travel to the US. Looking back I realise just how lucky, and privileged I was. Thank you for this.
When I first saw this video, I was like “Wait didn’t Timekeeping for WDW end with 2021?” Then I looked at the title, and the thumbnail more closely, and I was like “Oh, from the 1960s to 1996.”
I agree but, the company has changed, a lot. They have alienated themselves from many people. Hopefully they'll realize this and things will change for us all.
A salute to all theme parks but mostly Walt Disney World, it's a glorious four-hour finale (part 1) ...seriously though, this is great, so many nice memories in here

Eisner understood the assignment and the audience. So in touch with the consumer that when he goes to the parks, he waits in the queue with other guests. He took chances. Some worked. Some didn’t. But he did build that company back up.
Love this video! Most channels only focus on a single ride or show's history. I love that this covers all the changes year by year as the park evolved. I even love watching the name changes and it helps to correlate when certain things opened in relation to other parts of the park closing. I know your channel is WDW but I would love to see the same thing done for Disneyland in California. ❤
Finally got around to binging this whole video, fantastic job! I never got to experience the parks at any moment in this video (first time going was early 2000s), but man does it feel like this half of the park's history is the best period. The next 25 years has some good things, definitely, but I really think the Eisner era was the peak time for the parks, in terms of quality and new additions.
Thank you for this video! It brought back so many amazing memories. Some I had forgotten, some I will never forget. Comprehensive & masterfully done! Chef’s kiss!❤
Longest RU-vid video I've ever watched front to back, this is an incredible undertaking. What's the total time spent on this project (if you can even estimate)? It's probably the most comprehensive source of WDW info I've ever seen consolidated into a single video. Is there anything else that approaches this depth out there?
It's looks like same thing happened to Disney world and Disneyland before Disney plus on Disney company class starts at VIP tickets tour New oasr awesome picture awards TCM on the best part of the history books documentary about biography book club fun more information on DVD of musical show and the best part
I really love how the two parts of this are split up. My Disney visits didn't start until 1999. What i am seeing on this first part is the Disney I dreamed of, saw only through tv specials, friends descriptions, and promotional material. There are things, especially in EPCOT Centre, that I didn't know about and wish..I could have seen.
A truly comprehensive look at Disney World's history. Now, one thing made me curious: the name Moana was around years before Disney made a movie about the princess of the same name
0:06 I've So Excited For Going To Walt Disney World Resort In Orlando Florida In The United States Of America During My The City Of Orlando And Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Museum And Universal Orlando Resort And Walt Disney World Resort In Florida Holiday Megatrip On My 30th Birthday Celebrations Next Year In March 2023. Wish Me Luck. Thanks Mate. X
Interesting Fact: there were 2 locations Walt initially considered, Florida and Louisiana. On November 22nd, 1963, there was a huge meeting about purchasing a good chuck of land in Louisiana. It was interrupted by the news that President Kennedy had been murdered earlier that day. Not only did all Disney Parks close for the time, but the deal fell through. So Walt ended buying the land in Florida, and the rest is history.
Another thing I think he would be upset about is that Iger wants to build attractions based on IPs instead of original ideas. Some of the most iconic rides didn’t come from established IPs but just random pieces Walt made up.
Formerly the Reedy Creek improvement project, now DeSacrilegious's attempt to build a prison. Sarcasm aside, I love the in-depth research! Great job. 😃
35:14 the fact that the plaza swan boats went underneath the cinderella castle bridge reminds me of journey to the crystal grotto at shanghai disneyland because the boats in that attraction go under the enchanted storybook castle
Just a quick note, in 1983 both Carousel and Horizon were using "Now is the time" not Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. I don't remember when it went back to Great Big. It seems to me it was around the end of 1999.
In the future, since the 2030s, We hope these new movies. We saw that non-Disney cartoons series truly look like and fit to Walt Disney animation. So, our favorable Non-Disney cartoons series should be produced by Walt Disney Animation Studio. These new outer-media remake (3D) Animation movies surely have many sequels. The (3D) movies' title is ...... 'Astro Boy / Iron Arm / Astro Boy V / Iron Arm V' whose original designer was Osamu Tezuka. * The letter 'V' means 'victory'. Main Protagonist Concept • Name : Astro Boy / Astro / Adam [America, Europe, Oceania] / Atom [Asia, Middle East] / Adam Astrobot / Atom Astrobot / Adam The Astro Boy / Atom The Astro Boy • Species : The male teenage robot with human souls+minds and 100,000 horsepowers • Age : 15~16 • Nationality : perhaps South Korean+Japanese American Background : Metropolis of Shin York / Ship York / New Yoku * Shin York = New Yoku = New York + An East Asian City. * Shin [KOR🇰🇷/JPN🇯🇵] means New [ENG🇺🇸]. * Yoku [JPN🇯🇵] means York [ENG🇺🇸] * This is perhaps located in the same country with 'San Fransokyo' from Disney 'Big Hero 6' Series, so there will add cameos from 'Big Hero 6' Series.
23:19 “THE BEACHES WERE OPEN FOR SWIMMING…” 🤯 Are these the same beaches around bodies of water at WDW that now have signs every twenty feet everywhere for guests to please be aware of alligators and snakes?!? I paused the video at this time because I felt the need to write this comment, I wonder if this will be addressed later. Wow
What do you mean exactly? I know it’s far as them going. Walk with the whole rainbow thing.. but could you tell me what else you think was wrong with it? My only complaint from being there just a few days ago was that most of the foods were very nasty and definitely overpriced.
@@DesertEagle90 it is definitely not the same company. They are just buying up all these companies up and buying franchises that have nothing to do with Disney
I Have A Dream That Walt Disney's Is Coming To The Philippines In The Province Of Pangasinan Philippines 🇵🇭 At San Nicolas Pangasinan People They Come To Pangasinan All Other Countries In The World 🌍🌎🌏
Was the narrator late for lunch ?? I mean really why is he speed reading through this....could've been a really really good documentary but he screwed it up ......slow down !!!!
Ain't much Wonderful World of Disney on public TV now days with exception of cartoons,if one wants Disney then one needs pay to watch internet or cable,Disney public awareness important, European Disney dictatorship doesn't give a free inch when it comes to Star Wars or old Disney movies,if one wants to watch some Disney one needs to search for it , can't help but wonder if Disneyland today isn't just a waste of power and a taxpayer burden
