A few edits as pointed out: There were 4 stones for the Shroudbreaker. Ramsey threw the key to the Shroudbreaker overboard, not the Shroudbreaker itself. I now have to start the video again.
The silly pirate game has some of the coolest lore ever. A good chunk of my friends said that SoT wasn’t worth the 60 dollars, but ~85 hours in and I can safely say they were wrong. Most of them came back to the game and have been having just as much fun with it. Honestly one of my favourite games ever
sometimes I forget that the funny pirate game where you laugh at people's tears as you brutally murder their whole blood line all for a shiny skull that sells for 25 gold has lore
I really appreciate the work and effort you have put into this video. This will help new players catching up with the story. I'm glad you are doing these videos so I don't have to explain the whole lore over 2 hours to my friends. Thank you so much for your effort
Thanks for making a recap with proper narration and without weird jokes and deceiving imagery, in my opinion this is something that this game needed and it was missing for the general audience. Great video. EDIT: Starting from 17:17 you have made a mistake and made it sound a bit confusing. It's 4 gems, not 3 and you do not mention "The Legendary Storyteller" tall tale at all from which you get one of the gems. A lot of information about Briggsy is missing (I know not absolutely everything is included here since it would make the video last hours but imo that information is very vital), such as what exactly happened to her at the Shores of Gold, why she hid the gems and her overall motivation. At 17:43 you say "Send them [pirates] on a course to retrieve the stone" when it's about all four gems, not just 1 stone. This is pretty much it though, otherwise still a good video.
I decided to leave out a lot of the Briggsy stuff because it would be too in depth. I completely forgot we got a small gem in the Legendary Storyteller.
And if I had to guess, I'd say the impostor from A Dark Deception will turn out to be LeChuck, as he can theoretically use the Sword of Souls to tighten his own grip on both the Sea of Thieves and the Sea of the Damned. Top tier summary, Ray!
This was pretty much confirmed in the “making of monkey island” video SoT RU-vid uploaded today, where we see LeChuck holding the stolen Sword of Souls, saying he will use it to control the seas
Appreciate the recap! I haven't delved into the books and skipped most of the adventures, so this has filled in several holes in the story for me. Also, how hard did you have to try and resist saying that Briggsy "didn't asked to be cursed"? :P
I use to grind all the time only for gold, I’ve realised how exciting Sea Of Thieves is again because of these lore videos, no longer do I care about spending hours getting gold just to be sunk by some try hards, I now think of every Sea Fort and Ashen Lord I defeat as another step to defeating Flameheart, every time I sink a ship I know that its for a good cause, either to clear the seas of pirates or if they are loyal to Flameheart, to destroy his reputation and ego Thanks for sparking my love for this game again!
How do you not have more followers? As someone hopping back into SoT from a 2 year hiatus, this video was awesome to listen to and hear how everything linked together.
Only worthwhile one was Hungering Deep and even then most people who played during that event didn’t get to experience it because of the method for getting the Meg to spawn, the only other thing anyone is missing from these events is the changing world space (if rare made it so the cosmetics were still possible to get nobody would complain then lol)
Like there was a time you could walk around the outposts without 30 different musical stings playing all at once or having to hear a skeleton which always makes me glance back
Let’s be honest the story will end with Hondo Ohnaka somehow getting to the sea of thieves and defeating pirate Minecraft Steve who is the millionth guy to threaten the sea of thieves to destroy it as black manta is dead and his dead body covered by a bone from cupheads captain Briney beard under the water while some pirates from fortnite are fighting the GMU and pirates from skylanders are hiring the tabs pirates to help flameheart while oppenhimer is nuking the land outside the sea of thieves and morbius is morbing every pirate and all cannonballs are replaced with angry birds
The SoT storyline, or rather, how it's implemented, is probably the biggest reason I don't return to the game. The lore and overarching storyline are so enthralling, but you only get to experience what is currently happening. The fact that videos like this are absolutely necessary if you weren't there from day 1 is a major flaw. Sure, it's fun to watch the world evolve along with the story, but that also means that missing past content makes a player extremely apathetic toward future content.
Maybe I don't have that problem because I'm Bloody Ancient (30, lmao) and remember the days back when there weren't constant updates of FRESH NEW CONTENT!!!111 and the game was just the game.
Yeah, it sucks so much. I wouldn't know shit if it wasn't for videos such as this. The community demands Flameheart's return, yet for me he was just a random voice shouting in a lava cave. Same with characters like Pendragon, Belle, Stitcher Jim, the masked lady. They appear in some tall tales for a second posing as important characters and my long time allies/adversaries, yet I'm like 'Who the hell are you? I've never seen you in my life!' Whenever Flameheart is reintroduced it will be like an epic ending for years of story for long time players. But for newer players? Kill that random skeleton and you'll get a cool sword.
My dream is that Flameheart's return takes so long because they're converting all the adventures (or at least the most important ones) into tall tales and Flameheart's return will be released as the final one in the set. I don't know if that dream is a realistic scenario though. But one can always hope.
So many cool events that I am now seeing the remnants of...a shame they not allowe new players to go trough these old events again :( I killed an ashend lord once cause I ended up on the island where the red tornado was and had no idea what that meant but now I see they were part of a cool event
They could add like 7 tall tales of the Flameheart related events to the Ashen Age. And otherwise add the Bilge Rat & Sea Dog adventures as tall tales that lead to the Dark Brethren and Merrick's death.
@@elizawulf8180 yeah! Like I understand that the community decision ones were unique and it should not be brought back but all the other ones would be great as tall tales
@elizawulf8180 Consolidating adventures into Tall Tales sounds like a good idea. (I personally don't give a crap about adventures unless I can fight for Flameheart) Stop the FOMO and cement the canonical outcomes by making you capture sea forts for Flameheart and thwart Phantoms trying to blow up Golden Sands.
thank you so much i have recently become interested in the story of sea of thieves to gelp me decide whetheri want to join the athenas or reapers THIS HELPED SO MUCH
I’m guessing the Athenia will be the next big addition to the game to combat the BB. If it’s just as big and has a good phantom crew I think that would be awesome
@@Pixe_GUM I have, but at least with Destiny you can replay old content. What I mean here is without these videos you would never know these things happened.
Yea, I’m a relatively new player and at first it’s a cool thing to find all the remnants of these past stories and adventures throughout the seas but all the in-game information about it is so vague unless you actually played through it at the time. It would be nice if I could find out about all of this in-game rather than a yt recap. Awesome video tho thank you so much!

The Ferryman gave Jack Sparrow a second chance at life. Meanwhile, in reality, lawyers got Johnny Depp out of false accusations that could lead to something really bad. To me it was perfect timing
Man, as a new player, I really wish there was a way I could play through some of these old adventures. Especially since there isn't much happening in the game right now
@@Centaurus_L4You can do tall tales, but not adventures. So you can replay the Shroudbreaker/Shores of Gold questline, Jack Sparrow stuff and a little bit of Flameheart and Pendragon stories. But most of the Flamehart stuff was time limited, as well as everything regarding Merrick. This sucks for someone such as myself, who started playing in June 2023. The community rages on about finishing Flameheart's story, yet all I knew about him was that he was an angry voice shouting at me in the lava cave. Characters like Belle or Pendragon pop up in some tall tales claiming we're old allies, yet I'm like 'Who the hell are you? I've never seen you in my life.' Characters like Stitcher Jim, Duke or the masked lady were also just some random dudes who appeared in a single tall tale for a second and I've never seen them before or afterwards. Rare really did screw up with the lore accessibility. I wouldn't know shit if it wasn't for youtube videos such as this one.
I hope we’ll get to see Ramsey in his ghost form fight flame heart it would be like what would happen if dearth Vader met old Yoda except it actually happened
He was basically drawn in by the Siren Queen and convinced to join the Brethren since he was ostracised from the Bilge Rats, sort of as a means of getting back at the Pirate's Life that wronged him.
She was chained to Kraken's Fall, with all her children going there to help her and dying to. Hence why it's called Kraken's Fall and the Kraken is asleep there!
After dedicating 6 straight hours recreating Jurassic world in Jurassic world evolution 2 I need a break and this will do nicely (I’m not even done recreating)
@@AShinyRay Have you ever thought about writing a book on the history of SoT? Perhaps in the form of a comic book? I think you would do a fantastic job. And as the lore moves forward, release additional volumes. Looking forward to the next podcast.
Wait, so Ramsay just sailed into a cave and turned into a ghost? I thought he had died in some dramatic circumstamces, given the three swords plunged into his back.
Am I the only one a bit saddened that all legendary ships are Galleons? Is it such a wide swing to say that a legendary pirate was sailed on a sloop or brig?
You can play the tall tales (Shroudbreaker/Shores of Gold, Pirate's Life, Monkey Island, some but not all of the Pendragon/Flameheart stuff) but most of the lore comes from adventures which were time limited and can't be replayed (sadly).
They need to make a new thread of Tall Tales that consoladates all the lore now missing from the game. Its frankly BS that you can't learn about the sunsetted content. I'd envision working with the Order of Souls to discover a long lost ancient scrying pool that lets you see memories of the past, that way all the info, cutscenes and events that happened can be shoved in there for you to view.
