This New format is just Super League format but UEFA is getting all the revenue. It isn't that complicated and would be very nice became I felt the old group stages was getting boring and you've got to wait for knockouts to get Big matches most times but now We get bigger games earlier. My only problem is why was UEFA fighting Perez & Laporta about Super League format when this is almost the same idea, extremely unserious people 😂
They fought Perez because they won't get any money if Super League came. They tricked fans to think it was a bad idea and Super league will destroy normal League matches. Now them pass back steal the idea and everyone is happy lol
the new format isn't complicated, people are just refusing to accept change, this will ignite and make the competition more intense and thrilling, there's nothing like an easy group or easy path at least until the knockout stages, you play against 8 different teams home or away to cement your position in the R16, and of course from that point onwards it's like the old system so it's understandable.

So out of the possible 24 points in the group stage matches. If a club gets 16+ points out of the possible 24 points, they will make the 1st to 8th position.
So for the old format, the total matches from group stage to the final is 13 matches (6 group stage matches, 6 matches for knockout and 1 final match). So for the new format if you make the first 8 in the league pool all the way to the final, you will play 15 matches.
I think the most significant change is this: *** In the previous format, the top teams (pot 1) avoided each other and easily beat the "small" (lower pot) teams home and away to 'top' a group of just 4 teams. There were some very dull weeks with no real big games. *** But this time every team will have to play against teams at all levels (2 from each of pots 1 to 4), and then your performance (points and goals) will be compared to all the other 36 teams (not just those you played). *** Most importantly, for the viewers, it means that every match week, there will be a "clash of the titans" going on alongside the other "uninteresting" games.
It’s more games for us to watch but it is only 2 extra games for the teams IF YOU QUALIFY AMONG THE TOP 8 if not you will play an additional 2 playoff games. The old format a team has to play 13 games to win with this new format it’s 15 games. So it’s no big deal. I think this will be interesting. People just dont like change.

So can we call it a league? Yes and No. Yes... because there is no set of teams playing among themselves in a small group. Rather, teams are playing among themselves in 1 big table of 36 teams. You play one team, you move on to play another team, and each team you play also moves on to play a different team within the 36. And at the end, all the 36 teams will be ranked 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th ... 36th like a league table. And No... because unlike a typical league where a team would have had to play each of the other 35 teams home and away (making 70 games), this time your team will play only 8 teams in the 36, playing each team just once (8 games). I guess some of the reasons it happened like that are: They don't want 1. teams from the same country to meet, So Madrid cannot play Barca etc. 2. a team to play against more than two teams from the another country. Like Madrid playing Liverpool, Arsenal and City. No. 3. too many of the lower-end clashes (pot 4 playing against pots 3 & 4 teams). So they decided each team will play just two teams from each pot. Just to spare the extra boring clashes I think. And there's no home and away; it's just one meeting, either home or away.
