@@g-manisegg-man7517 Perhaps, I mean I *heard* of the new Indiana Jones but I can’t even recall its subtitle, and what makes it promising unlike 3 & 4?
Could you elaborate as to why in a few paragraphs? Not convinced, Barbie looks more worth it. In case anyone here has down syndrome, I don't actually care for barbie.
@@BBWahoo Barbie imo is worth it, Spoilers ig cuz dive in deep on girl/womanhood, and how woman/girls are treated compared to barbie world which is more fun and ignorant world, while our world is kind of the opposite, sad. So, barbie is on mission to answer her question why isn't she acting so barbie like or ignorant but more observant of her plastic life. Regardless barbie is actually a physiological movie but still a fun movie with a powerful monologue at the ending. Plus there is kens kenning at each other.
It would have been even better if Morbius appeared in the Blade films like originally planned. But back then they couldn't have printed one trillion tickets to keep up with demand.
A smartphone? No. A plasma screen. Yes. I know the TV's not as big; but now you don't have to go out and deal with disruptive attendees, plus you can...pause.
@@wisemage0 Doubt your home system beats a Dolby theater experience. That's fine. I enjoy watching films at home, too, but some are just made for the theater and I go about once a week or twice a month. Seeing The Batman in Dolby... Bladerunner 2049, The North Man, Avatar Top Gun Maverick. I still kick myself for not seeing Dune in IMAX
I saw both Oppenheimer and Barbie a while back. Both films were unique and honestly seemed amazing. Oppenheimer was great for history nerds like myself. It respected the heavy source material and honestly I loved it. My only complaint is that I felt it could have been 15 or 20 minutes shorter. Barbie was also amazing. It was beautiful and hilarious. I watched it in a packed theatre and every joke landed. It was also an experience akin to Spiderman No Way Home. During Ken's final monologue and his musical number guys there with their gfs started chanting "He's literally me" and "I'm just ken". Honestly the movie said so much yet simply enough to still be seen as a comedy. I loved it. But that's just it. Most cinema attendees only see 2 or 3 films a year. For most folk those 3 films were Guardians of the Galaxy, Barbie and Oppenheimer.
@@Icetea-2000 it actually wasn’t. you can see that Gerwig put a lot of effort into the Kens and made them have character development even though they were supporting actors.
@@anonymouslol7010 Yes so much character development that they just go back to their subservient role in the end and the barbies not learning their lesson. You know, I would’ve appreciated if they went for a message of equality and it would’ve perfectly fit the movie how we in the end both have to get along, but the writers clearly would rather portray women as superior to men.
It’s not hollywood it’s the internet, we constantly need to be stimulated and he made the video with fast moving clips to keep our attention. Sad but it’s true.
It's a shame Transformers isnt doing well, cause Bumblebee finally brought the series back into a good direction again. One where the Transformers are the main focus, getting more screentime and are given actual character development. Alot of people underestimate the amount of rich and compelling stories you can tell with Transformers. It's just that the movies rarely dig beyond the surface. The next movie is a prequel set on Cybertron, explaining the events leading to the war and they cannot play it safe with that storyline. Because that storyline is FILLED with themes of systematic oppression, corruption and often times genuine horror and brutality.
Well, Rise Of Beasts felt like it was relapsing slightly into "mindless explosive-porn action" like the Michael Bay Pentalogy did after the first film... So im not _too_ devastated. (Still very much am tho)
@@BobbinRobbin777 In some ways kinda. But I think it played itself more safe than anything. The Transformers got more focus that any of the Bayformers and the movie did use the oppertunity to give the characters some depth. It just needed to be a bit more risky. Maybe be half an hour longer too
Are you serious? Bumblebee was a glorified John Hughes movie with robots, and rise of the beasts is arguably worse than the bayformers with how much of its runtime is dedicated to crap human characters
I'm convinced that people who edit videos like this are doing so to keep the attention span of an average internet addict up do that they keep on watching them and feeding themselves with that stimulus feed.
Where the hell have you been all my life/for the last 4 years?? Bro your videos are actually the best on the platform rn. Gonna do a complete retroactive binge. Bless you for giving me a corner of beautiful content ❤
beau is afraid is genuinely one of the best theatre experiences ive had this year and i think everybody else who saw it in theatres probably agrees with me.
I was shocked at how good it is, considering it was directed by Ari Aster, who has a terrible track record. After he directed total garbage like Hereditary and Midsommar, I didn't think Beau if Afraid had any chances of being good but it was.
Idk who else relates, but Oppenheimer was the first time I was back in a theatre since pre pandemic. Maybe audiences just need to reminded about the Cinema again
Same here last film I went to see in the theater before Oppenheimer was Once upon a time in Hollywood. Oppenheimer is a beast if a film love it! In fact it should be watched in the theater no one should wait for it to stream.
I went and saw the new Mission Impossible and I have to say, Tom Cruise never fails to disappoint. The fact he’s doing all the stunts in this movie at 60 years old absolutely bewilders me. Gotta give credit where credit is due.
Everyone likes to shit on the new Indy, and that's fine, but he was doing some of his own stuff, too. Tom and Ford showing the newer generation how it should be. Still get nightmares of Matrix 4
12:34 couldnt have said it better myself. Anytime i watch movies on my phone or TV either I regret never seeing it in theaters or wish I could experiance it again. Watching Joker in the cinema was the closes thing to put me in fight or flight, watching Rick Flag get stabbed in the heart up close stuck with me. No matter how shitty or great a movie is, watching it on the big screen makes it 10x better
It's original, and different. If you eat the same beautiful steak every night and then someone hands you a regular burger. You will instantly take the burger just for the fact of variety.
God I hope the new Dungeons and Dragons movie did well. I completely wrote it the fuck off when I saw the trailer and I'm willing to bet a ton of people did the same thing, but it turned out to be not only what a DnD movie should be in regards to building its world and tone in the same way that most friends around the table do; but turned out to be a shockingly well made movie as well. Great acting. Inventive scenes. Fun dialogue with likable characters. An actual character arc. Excellent action that isn't cutting the camera every picosecond. Way more practical effects than I anticipated, too. When the paladin sliced his attacker's neck and some absolute chad of a stunt man took an actual fall down the rocks, it felt like I was watching an actual movie again.
Sadly D&D released too close to Mario for it to do well- as much as I enjoyed Mario, it’s the only film I’ve seen this year that over-performed for what it was IMO (Megan and a few others might also qualify but I haven't seen those so I can’t adequately judge).
Only learned about dungeon & dragons when started watching big bang theory and still don’t understand it, so I don’t know why they made a movie about, in my country never saw anyone talking about it, only Japanese like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! ,beyblade ect
I think the reason Barbie and Oppenheimer did so well is because it was 2 movies people wanted to watch. I find it harder and harder to justify driving aaaalll the way out to the theatre, to watch only one movie, so having 2 I want to watch makes it more worthwhile.
Hollywood has stagnated because they used to just pump out mediocre movies with recognizable names and they would make more money as the creative movies. But now that the mediocre franchise cash cows like the flash and Indiana Jones have flopped and the critically acclaimed movies like across the spiderverse and oppenheimer have flourished, we could see a new age of creativity in Hollywood.
@@me-myself-i787 Well you are partially right. A great movie with bad marketing is going to do worse than a good film with good marketing. However, now mediocre films with good marketing like Indiana jones and the flash are bombing, so now the studios need to ensure some level of quality that was not necessary to make a big blockbuster a few years ago.
Oppenheimer was a work of art, I genuinely love this movie and will buy a collector edition on dvd when it comes out. I’ve watched Oppenheimer three times now. It’s worth every penny to watch it in IMAX
as a cinema worker this summer has been hell, with new films coming out every week it’s constantly bringing different groups of people to see said films so this summer has honestly been non stop working, hope you’ve had fun guys :) maybe when it’s all over i’ll finally have the time to go see them myself lol
I think if it wasn't for Transfomers 5 and the Bumblebee movie bombing at the box office I think ROTB would have been directed by Bay or the studio would have let Steven caple Jr take more risks...I and one of the few people that actually like the direction that the Transformers franchise is going in away from the last 2 Michael Bay Transformers movies, but I think if they still make that Transformers GI Joe crossover it's going to bomb harder then Oppenheimer's actral bomb because not even transformers fan's like myself want to see Gi joe with Transformers
What you are saying is good, but the editing and visuals are going at light speed. The beginning especially was too fast paced with new footage appearing at every 3-6 words (or at least that is how it felt like).
12:36 THIS. I remember crying so much in the cinema from avengers end game and having to go home that i had a HEADACHE. I went on the first day it came out and I absolutely loved every single second of it.
I didn’t like Barbie like at all, but I’m glad it got more people in the theater. At least in my area it was basically impossible to find tickets for the Barbie movie on the 21st Edit: I don’t feel like beefing in the comments. I personally didn’t like the movie but I respect your opinion if you did. I’m planning on rewatching it in theaters to try it again
Ye. I'm prolly gonna get flamed for this, but shoving feminism down everyone's throat will not make the vast majority of people go back to the theater. Because it's bs.
@@JohnDoe12345. as a girl who sees herself as progressive, Barbie sucked so bad bc of the messaging. Women aren’t superior to men, and men aren’t superior to women. They could’ve made a good movie but whatever
I'm very excited to see how this year changes cinema. I hope this will lead to greenlighting more good movies as the industry notices good movies are more succesful than bad ones.

I love the writing, the music, the fast cuts, this should have millions of views, best piece of content I've found in a while, after watching the pixar video of course
So glad you made this video. These were EXACTLY my thoughts. Every single movie with a HUGE budget and mediocre reviews has performed badly because no one cares to see it. Every movie with a lower budget and amazing reviews performs much better. There are obvious exceptions of course, like Avatar 2 somehow making all that money, but it seems like movie companies are going to need to try harder and make better films/decrease their budgets. For example, Elemental had the whopping $200million budget, whereas SPIDERVERSE had a $100 million budget, Puss in Boots had a $90 million budget, The Bad Guys had a $80 million budget, so it's way easier for them to be successful. The Bad Guys only made $250 million but was still a success. These studios keep putting out these mediocre movies with $250 million plus budgets that barely break even, how? Make the movies better
@@SwagSwagSenate it's not successful yet. It's a month out and it's only made around $310 million, with a budget of $200 million and who knows how much for marketing. It would need to make around $450+ million to be profitable
@@AnimatedCriticStudios Yes but with the fact it only made $4 million more this weekend it's slowing down massively so it probably won't make much more, and like I mentioned it needs $450M+ to make a profit. Even now it's still the least successful animated film of this year.

i had to take an ambulance ride because the hospital i was at said i needed my gall blatter removed but since i’m not 18 they wouldn’t operate on me but they would get an ambulance to take me an hour away to a hospital in ATL, when i got there i didn’t need my hall blatter removed because the last hospital took my fucking vitals wrong. now a big nothingburger of an ambulance ride is costing my family like $1500-2000 dollars

This video is a fucking fever dream he’s harder to track than Oppenheimer during that 30 minutes of lawyer shit at midnight when all you’re thinking about is eating some food and sleeping like a rock.
Wait, how was the new Transformers movie mediocre? It wasn't the best, don't get me wrong, but it was just a nice and fun movie. Putting it on the same level as The Flash seems kinda biased.
Nice, fun movies aren't good enough in a year when Spiderverse, GotG3, Oppenheimer, and Mission Impossible all come out. Most people don't have the money to watch all 4 of these, not to mention any other, more mediocre movies. Plus, Barbie and Mario were mediocre movies but heavily marketed, whereas Transformers was mid and poorly marketed, and came from an overutilised IP, as opposed to Mario and Barbie which have been underutilized in cinema. (Plus, Mario products are generally very high-quality. Super Mario Odyssey is one of the best games I've played in a while, and the Mario themed lands at Universal are also great. So I watched the Mario movie thinking that Nintendo's quality control combined with Universal's renaissance with Puss in Boots 2 and their theme parks would make this a great movie. I was dead wrong.)
I find it very funny he used transformers against Oppenheimer because honestly I'm just annoyed by Oppenheimer ads and refuse to see it. Yet I bought Imax tickets for transformers and loved every second. Only reason I'm going to see barbie is because my girlfriend wants me to go with her. I want to eventually see indie as I grew up on indie and would like to see more. As well as it feels like at every turn I've been denied seeing spidervese. Between theaters selling me a ticket then saying they're not actually showing it or they're full to having other life events get in the way. Stuff seems to be bombing yea but its mostly Disney stuff. Idk, my 2 cents aren't worth much but here they are anyway
Yup i agree i went on Barbie 2 times bcs it deserved the hype and i wanted to my mom to see that movie.. I was kinda excited for Elementals but when i found out what happend on the sets and in the production with the story itself it drowe me away VEEERRRY fast.. i was gonna go on oppeheimer but i still dont feel like it its a hard movie to swolow and thats why it has that hype..

12:02 Okay so about that. I was supposed to see barbie movie last weekend but nobody decided to actually make plans. I kept asking "hey are we seeing the move this weekend? Does saturday work? What time?!" And nobody answered. So the weekend came and went. One of them was like "oh next weekend! next weekend for sure!" But they still havent said anything. So I doubt ill ever get to see it until years later I see it on streaming. Which is sad, because I wanted to dress nice for once to see the movie. My dad, however, thinks it's stupid, and im not dragging my mom to see it, since I feel like she wouldnt want to either. Now, my dad. Just bought two movie tickets. to Indiana Jones. Im only really going because "eh its something to do, besides, at least hell like it." but I still would really like to see the barbie movie, no matter how bad people think it is
I encourage you to keep your head up. Barbie is a good movie. Definitely heavy handed on their message but I believe that’s the point. If Greta Gerwig and company view patriarchy as a heavy handed, in-your-face issue then why not make an equally heavy handed, in-your-face film? I did not expect the film to go as far as it did with it’s message but the story did end in a satisfying way for me. Barbie is a very well made and intentionally crafted film in my opinion and I don’t see it’s message as a reason to bash the film and all of it’s other amazing qualities. You’ll enjoy Barbie when you finally do get to see it. Personally though I liked Oppenheimer more
Dude why don’t you go on your own? I love going to the cinema to watch movies in my own sometimes, literally saw Barbie and Oppenheimer today on my own and loved it.
@@toneswing6I honestly thought barbies message was over the top, they could easily have made the message the same without demonizing men, men are treated as these perfect beings other than ken crying a bit, then it ends with some stupid payback sequence with the president, patriarchy is a issue, just not in the us to the extent it was portrayed in the movie, and especially in cali of all places. Like cmon, those guys who were creepy to barbie would be publicly executed, sadly Greta is to large of a coward to base this in a country where this stuff makes sense
Well, naturally, Oppenheimer and Barbie opened a week later. That heavily took sales away from MI. That being said, I saw MI twice now, and probably will again later. Meanwhile Barbenheimer is a one and done.

I have a shit job and a loaf of bread costs like $300. You best believe I'm pirating everything i watch. I haven't even payed for a steaming service in like 2 years.
For a lot of people, the question no longer seems to be “Which movies are we gonna watch in the theater?”, but rather "Which movies would be worth the inconveniences from going to the theater to watch them?"
I really think people are more willing to wait for stuff to come to steamers and that is even more true when it comes to big franchise sequels with the amount of nostalgia tryna be sold by studios
I only watched two movies this summer. GOTG and Oppenheimer in 70mm imax. And those we’re WELL worth my time and money. Both we’re truly 10/10’s for me. Btw I’ve loved the recent videos, they feel extremely relatable and almost personal. Good shit, Skipper.
