"The Conet Project: Recordings of Shortwave Numbers Stations" is a collection released by Irdial-Discs, initially comprising four CDs and later expanded to five. This set features recordings of numbers stations and noise stations, believed to be used by government agencies for communicating with spies. The project is primarily the work of Irdial-Discs founder Akin Fernandez, who started recording these transmissions in 1992. The original four-CD set debuted in 1997, with a reissue in 2013 that included a fifth CD.
These recordings have been sampled in various artistic works, most notably in the 2001 film "Vanilla Sky" and Wilco’s 2001 album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." Aligning with its “free music” policy, the label made the entire collection available for free download as MP3 files, accompanied by a PDF of the booklet. Although Irdial-Discs no longer hosts these files, they continue to provide links to alternative active hosts.
