Anthony Burgess returns to his birth city Manchester with a crew of Belgian television. Original broadcast BRT 23/12/1987 and repeated 2/12/1993. Mr Coenen also interviewed Burgess for Humo magazine, edition 2468. Another writer in this series was Charles Bukowski.

Let me please express once again my gratitude. The documentary is of much interest - better in all respects and more revealing than the pedestrian one by the French state broadcaster or the sentimental, oddly hagiographic, one by the British state broadcaster. Burgess's performance inside the Church of the Holy Name is priceless. I had been wanting to view this documentary for years. You have performed a great service, KidMillions!

Thanks, your channel is a great service too. I follow all the new vids. This documentary was made when the BRT had no competition from commercial stations, now they would never make a program like this and schedule it at 8 pm on the main channel. Different times.

do you know of any other burgess docs that might be on the horizon for uploading? or have all of them been pretty much catalogued on youtube at this point?

@@liammcooper There's other material like his appearance on the After Dark program, but that would be removed from youtube since the copyright owner is still trying to make money from it. And he made plenty of appearances on French talkshows, some are on the INA archive site.

Thanks so much for this! real cool to see my favorite author going back in time and memory,a tad sad. just how I would imagine him to be,Outstandingly candid and fearlessly astute. LOVE his cynical wit and Really Everything about him!
