Heads Up: This was filmed with the trial run Apple Watch heart rate monitor, before we realized it only captures heart rate every 5 seconds. New ones that are much more accurate are on the way for both of us, we used the apple watch as a trial run because Simone already had the device.
I'd like to see blood pressure instead/in addition, since that is likely to last longer and be more telling than a spike in heart rate. Comparing heart rates might be fun as well. You'll definitely have some chances if you watch any of the other films from the Conjuring universe.
Great reaction guys! Poor Simone when the hands came out of the dark 😂 For some more "fun" ghost movies I highly recommend: The Others (2001) The Changeling (1980) The Innocents (1961) The Haunting (1963)
I loved this movie and I am not a big horror / gasher guy. I really loved “The Changeling”. It was scary but in a very clever way. And George C. Scott just nails the role - as he usually does
Re: Simone's comment about watching horror films inadvertently inviting things in reminds me of a quote by Montague Rhodes James (a 19th Century horror writer): "I feel that it may not be quite prudent to brood over topics which may open the interior eye to the presence of more formidable visitants. Enough said." 😆
Although The Conjuring is a nice horror-flick, for real scares you should watch more of those Paranormal Activity movies, of which there are several, or watch The Ruins, or simply the best horror-movie imho: The Others with Nicole Kidman. No religious propaganda in those.
Patrick Wilson (who plays Ed Lorrain, the exorcist husband in this film) plays a cowboy in the film Bone Tomahawk. I would highly recommend watching Bone Tomahawk, it's about a Sheriff and his posse vs cannibalistic troglodytes. Kurt Russell is the sheriff in it, also it has the late Sid Haig in it as well as Dewey from all the Scream movies.
Great reaction guys as usual. Yes Simone, watching certain shows/ movies could invite spirits/ evil in, at least for me it does. Praying helps if I ever do watch things that are suggestive. 😊👏👏🥰
This is still my favorite horror movie from recent years. I wasn't interested in the movie at first, but then I started to listen the beginning of Brad "Cinema Snob" Jones' review of the film, I quickly checked from the phone that the movie was about to be shown (in an hour or so) in my local theater, and rushed there. I wasn't disappointed. Edit: And because "this is based on real events" and is still kinda down-to-earth (at least compared to some later films, like the Nun films...), it really helped to fortify the film's scary atmosphere.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga's chemistry is my favorite thing of the Conjuring films. Their portrayals of Ed and Lorraine Warren make them my horror movie pair. Also, the director and writers made this movie with little blood, no gore and no cussing to get a PG-13 rating, but got a an R rating purely on how scary it was. Pretty impressive.
Yeah the fact that Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga make Ed and Lorraine Warren so likable is one of the things I most hate about the Conjuring francise (though far from the only thing!). The real Warrens were grifters and Ed Warren was a gross creep with a 15 year old girl! And, tbh, it also bugs me that you consider no cussing and rated PG-13 to be reflection of morality when this entire franchise mainstreams a pair of grifters and their harmful ideas! This series basically depicts a modern version of the same ideas that led to the Salem Witch trials, and the only reason they didn't include people being executed as a just ending is that cultural norms are slightly less blood thirsty...for now. But hey at least no one got naked or said a bad word! Everyone knows that seeing a boob is way worse than glorifying a conman who had an affair with his teenage assistant.
Her SCREAMING to the hand-clap , is chefs kiss!! Reaction was priceless Then George just laughing saying that's good There are 2 people in this world lol
George, to your question about why haunted houses are always remote, there's a great ghost movie with John Cusack called 1408 where the haunting is in a hotel room on the 14th floor. It's one of the wilder and more intense movies out there.
@@JoshuaFortner-lm3tj It's a Stephen King short story, first heard in the audiobook Blood and Smoke in 1999, then later included in the 2002 collection Everything's Eventual.
My friends and I have a joke about this movie that Patrick Wilson is the perfect husband and father. He's got "come on Sport! Let's play catch!" energy.
The real Lorraine Warren is sitting in the audience of their second lecture where the mom asks them for help. The real annabelle dolls is actually a raggedy Ann doll.
The real Warren's were also frauds, and come the second movie when it follows the Enfield haunting, despite what the movie shows, they showed up uninvited, stayed for a single day and that was ALL of their involvement in the case.
@@vinnylewis9245 that's fine if you don't believe anything needs researching. After all, we'd have a lot less people to worry about if Alexander Fleming didn't ask questions about fungus, or even more if Marie Curie wasn't so inquisitive. I'm not a medium, religious or conspiracy theorists, just someone with an interest. Over the past 30 years I have personally seen and heard things which science can't explain... yet. And that's why I'm for more research.
Sleepwalking is a bizarre experience, hard to describe. You wake up standing in random areas. Then fall back to sleep while standing, and wake up again in a different location. I've had a few scary moments, waking up at the top of the stairs a few times, and standing at my open front door, which means I can unlock the door while sleeping.
I’ve never experienced sleepwalking BUT I have a cousin who one night, while it was raining, slept-walked down the street to the corner and fell asleep in a poison ivy bush ..
I slept walked when I was younger. Woke up on the bathroom floor. I've been known to talk in my sleep. My cousin road her bike to a friend's house while sleeping. My aunt and uncle put a lock higher up on the door out of her reach that they would lock at night so she couldn't do it again
Speaking of content warnings, I posted this poster on facebook after I watched it and facebook auto-flagged it and removed it because of the rope and asked me if I needed help.
I sleepwalked as a kid and once last month as a fully grown adult. I used to wake up in different parts of the house. The last month was at my girlfriend's place where apparently I stood looking out the kitchen window at the neighbours house for a not-short period of time. Very vaguely remember seeing a light on the neighbour's house and just couldn't pull myself away from it.
When my sister was little, she would sleep walk down the stairs to the living room where my parents would be watching tv and just sit down on the couch like she just couldn't sleep. Her eyes were even open during all this so they didn't think anything of it. Then, after a few minutes, she would let out a bloody horrific scream and wake up. She was apparently experiencing night terrors. After 3 times of this happening, my father added a small metal latch by the top of the door that would lead from the bedrooms downstairs. My sister couldn't reach it. Apparently, after one night trying the door, she couldn't open it and just went back to bed and never had a night terror ever again.
I was a HUGE sleep walker when I was a kid and every now and then my brother would tell me that I'd wake up, talk to him and go back to bed... One night he said that I woke up and kept staring at him..... If it was me, I'd freak the hell out. It was more frequent when I was a kid, today I just talk A LOT when sleeping, usually it's just giberish, my girlfriend gets confused a lot XD
The second one is even better. I wrote a letter to Lorraine Warren years before these movies started and she wrote back! She shows up in the lecture scene
21:50 I love that Simone is almost in tears while George has this giant grin. A tale of two movies... EDIT: I'm not some weirdo delighting in the terror of women. Look up a first screening of Alien in the 70s during the chestburster scene. Eight people terrified, crying, screaming; one guy in the back like " :D Nice." I got those vibes.
Videos like this one remind me why you guys are such a good pair, Simone- scared of what goes bump in the night. George- the guy who’d laugh at whatever goes bump in the night
I wanted to say I appreciate you guys for keeping your movie reactions to around 30mins (usually tops out at 45 on rare occasions). A lot of reactors nowadays have videos almost as long as the movie itself. ❤
The only problems I have with these movies, and the universe of these movies, are that the people they are based on, were some biggest pieces of shit, con artists that has ever existed.
The real Annabelle doll is a Raggedy Ann doll. And the real Perron family stayed in the house after the paranormal events. In fact, they still continue.
YES.. I slept walked as a child in the 80's... It's funny.. One night in 1986 I would have been 5yo... I literally slept walked to the front door... Unlocked it.. left the house.. went down the street to a house where a party was going on.. the guy that lived there knew where I lived and led me back to my house.. knocked on the door and woke my parents up to let them know I tried to join their party! lol... Freaked my parents out for sure!!... After that... They added locks I couldn't unlock anymore lmao! I still don't understand that tho.. I guess all I wanted to do was go to a party and have a good time.. what's wrong with that? lol
I don't understand what scares people about movies like this, but man it's fun watching people react to them! Of course, it doesn't hurt that Simone and George are personable/fun to watch in general.
28:45 If it helps Simone, Ed Warren was a known conman & serial adulterer. I was fascinated by the Warrens when I was a child - I read, "The Demonologist," & immediately wanted to know everything about Ed & Lorraine. Sadly, what I found was definitely an interesting couple of weirdos, but none of their claims were verified or true. Also, the film is impressively accurate with Lorraine Warren's 1970's former/wannabe Catholic nun modesty chic. The high frilly collars are practically ripped from the headlines...
Yeah they are definitely a case where the more you look into them, the more disappointing the whole story becomes, especially when you get to Ed's personal life haha. Different times!
While the stories make for a fun time, thats all they were, unfortunately the real Ed and Lorraine were just con artists who took advantage of people's beliefs.
I love Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga so much in this it almost makes you forget that the real Warrens were very possibly weird grifters and horrible people.
When someone is referred to the Catholic Church for an exorcism, the exorcist will first have the victim submitted for a medical and psychological evaluation. Some exorcists say 98-99% of people referred for an exorcism just have a psychological disorder that can be properly diagnosed and treatment will begin. If the doctors are stumped, the Church will investigate further. The priest will throw tap water on the victim, telling them it's holy water. if the victim responds violently, the priest knows they're faking it. The priest will add legit holy water to certain possessions of the victim and the victim won't go near them. After gaining enough evidence, the exorcism begins.
I love these movies, but the real Ed Warren was a horrible person. Cheated on his wife constantly. Even moved one very young mistress into their home. He got her pregnant. He was a grifter. He went to the Amityville home uninvited and got punched in the face by the owner, then kicked out. They made Hollywood promise if they made the movies about them. They weren’t allowed to show them in a negative light. God forbid people know the truth. Take care.
it was the Perron house where he got punched in the face by the father, they were kicked out. They did nothing to help. The same case for the second film, it took place in England and they had almost nothing to do with those events either.
10:28 I’ve never heard Simone scream 😂 Y’all gotta put the horror movie The Cell with Jlo and Vince Vaughn in your poll ! It’s so underrated PS : MORE JAMES WAN HORROR MOVIES PLEASE lol
If you research Ed and Loraine Warren they are not as legit as they are made out to be. The do not, in fact, try and explain the hauntings first. Also, heart monitor was genius.
Sure they did! It's just that their explanation was always "Demons". They much preferred a good story to accurately relaying witness reports and flat out told biographers to just make up a good story when they cast doubt upon witnesses.
They are complete frauds. Like the storof Annabelle, about 5 years before his claims of a possessed doll, there was an episode of the twilight zone that describes his claims to a tee. ( so he ripped off the show )
I mean when Simones jimping and yelling at Luna before the video starts you know its gonna be a good reaction 😂i lost my S**t laughing at Simone screaming during the clap scene and ghost on the wardorbe i dont think weve ever heard her scream in such terror before🤣 Amazing video guys especially Simone for getting through this one😊
I always thought it was cool that the real Lorraine Warren makes a cameo appearance as one of the people in the audience when they give the talk. Hope you watch the next one!
Simone, getting wind chimes might seem to be a good and comfortable idea-- the reality is that they're really annoying. A good stiff wind could wake you up.
In reference to your conversation about haunting/horror movies that take place in less rural areas, there's a few I can think of. 1408 takes place in a hotel room, Evil Dead Rise takes place in an apartment building, Devil takes place in the elevator of a business complex, both versions of Candyman take place in urban communities. They're all pretty decent if you need some October watch material.
Fun Fact: According to one of the daughters this movie is like a PG version of what her family really experienced. The writers read the book that the daughter wrote about the experience and said there was no way they would be able to sustain an just an R rating while keeping it accurate, so they had to REALLY tone it down.
I want to give a movie advice, on youtube there is a very old war movie named the four days of naples, its a movie about the civil war in italy during ww2 against the N@zis, there is subtitles, but its an amazing story about a kid partisan that d*ed for his city
