After the war, the US took one of those German guns, converted it to fire atomic shells. Nicknamed "Atomic Annie". Found it in history channel and I built the 1/35 scale model.
i own three of those railway guns alongside two K5's made by Riverossi, but i might repaint one to be an Atomic shell cannon. this video is helpful for some of those concepts of repainting
0:50 I have that set. The locomotive ran horribly, the motor armature wouldn't sit right, so I scrapped it and have any other locomotive pull the train, including my Conrail 0-4-0 before it gave out.
Considering how destructive Penn Central was, that might have been a better livery, but hey they went to Conrail anyways! Would look perfect in downtown Detroit in the 80’s.
For the ammo car, I suggest using a 50 foot gondola with several racks of visible shells at the ready. For the crew car, maybe a model of a retired heavyweight sleeper car would do the trick.

The Big Cannon model is based on the US Army atomic cannon from the 1950s. It fired a shell with a nuclear warhead. There is test firing footage on RU-vid.
Another excellent, and informative video amigo. I find I have to do at least two viewings to get all the additional text, and sight gags that you embed in your story, and to truely appreciate (?) your narrative. Your obsession with wheeled things (or non-wheeled things) in Conrail livery is deserving of...say some Conrail branded but stained and chipped ashtrays from five or so BUDD dome cars they ran in the 80's. I beleive they were used on the "NO TUNNELS PLEASE" routes after that one incident back in '84. You're f'ing welcome.
There is always the "Boche Buster" railgun made by Oxford Rail in the UK, it's a highly detailed behemoth and OO scale of course. Did I notice a Tri-ang Stephenson's Rocket in blue!!!! LMAO
As an aside on the Blue Discussion. Nobody uses actual Conrail Blue on models bcs the specific tone doesn't show properly under most interior lighting options due to the finish. So most use a lighter shade which will match pictures better under standard model lighting conditions. And thats not getting to the fact that a lot of the late 70s and early 80s renditions were almost always shop mixes that are all a bit different from eachother. If you want to rivet count color it needs to be done on a unit by unit basis.
I never added weight to mine, i just added metal wheels and i keep it the end of trains. haven't had any problems and been running it on a club layout for years
@@cobramerciless Really split on how to feel, on one hand I love goofy liveries like that, on the other hand I’m a Triang collector, the Rocket being one of the rarer models they made, no such thing as a cheap Triang Rocket, so I’m split between being pissed off and laughing lmao
I hate to break the bad news to you (actually, I don't give a F... as you don't either), but such a rail car would need to be placed at the front as its weight would be x3 of a standard 50 foot Railroad 5077 cu ft boxcar. In model terms I did the math, the car should weigh in at 8 to 11.5 oz. Language other than H or D is allowed (for God's sake for the children man!) Over all, its a good video. You did a great job on painting. You got me inspired. Thanks.
