My favourite vagon is Alpina B5 Touring, closely followed by the Panamera GTS Sport Turismo. Nothing beats a good looking vagon with a V8 under the bonnet.
I love station wagons and I hate to see fewer and fewer available in the US. Including Volvos. You can't get a V90 anymore, just V90 Cross Country. And the V60 is a great wagon but good luck finding the version you tested (Polestar). Mercedes only offers the E63 and E450 All-Terrain...no regular E class wagons. BMW doesn't offer a 5 Series wagon. VW no longer offers a wagon. Saab is gone. You basically have Volvo, Mercedes, Audi, and Subaru.
it is too big of a step in order to get a recharge in the wagon format. i would just get an S60 recharge with a more practical, but still nicely appointed, set of options and save more than a few grands.
I have the Volvo V60 T8 Recharge PHEV. It's the 18.8kwh battery version. It's even better than you describe. I love it and it looks to be a "keeper"! It's really awesome. I charge the battery from my solar house system so much if my daily needs are covered by the battery only in Pure mode. The seamless operation with electric and gas is astoundingly good. Couldn't be happier.
I absolutely adore Volvo wagons, specifically the low "true" wagons. They are such beautiful and practical cars. It's too bad the price is so damn high, but hey, it's cheaper then the E63 Wagon or R6 Avant, so it's got that going for it I guess lol
V60 is the best station wagen ever made in my opinion! I had volvo v60 D6 2016 and now i got volvo v60 T8 2022, and i higly recomand it! Perfect car for my family. it feels luxury, sporty and it is very good looking car with lots of usefull equipemnt. Love the speakers and the seats.
You forgot to mention the Bowers and Wilkins sound system- I have this in my S60 and it is about the best you can get in any car at any price point- sounds even better in the V60.
Station wagons need to come back. They're just as practical as SUVs and look a hell of a lot better IMO. They also won't cook your eyeballs medium-rare when they're coming at you, or demolish your entire car during a collision. Buying a station wagon is just more mindful to the people who aren't driving SUVs. SUVs need to die out already. I get that people feel safer in them, but you're just making car drivers feel unsafe since you're shitty drivers.
Very recently drove a 2023 Volvo V60 CC, a mild hybrid. Good looking station wagon; drove nicely, had good cargo space, and had good ground clearance. And then I drove a 2023 Audi Allroad Premium Plus..........All I had to do was shut the door on the Audi and that was game over. Audi build quality beats Volvo any day. Ordered the Audi Allroad the same day.
Was fortunate to get this while it still qualified for the $7500 tax credit. Shameful he didn’t drive it in polestar mode on a proper road to experience the Hulk mode vs pure mode Banner. So smooth and love how stealth it is.
Why do station wagons exist? I think the better question is, why do sedans exist? Wagons do everything a sedan does, better. There is a reason why station wagons are so common in Europe.
Always said, one day, I would love an M5 wagon, a pre A Porsche 356 and a oval window VW Beetle. Old neighbor had a Reliant Scimitar estate. Such an awesome car. The Lexus IS300 was another cool wagon. Why aren't wagons more popular?
I owned one of these from 2020 to 2022 and did about 10k miles on it (yey covid). It is without question one of the DULLEST cars I’ve driven for a long time, even with the shocks clicked down to “track” which is where I left them. Yes it’s gorgeous and fast but it’s just so clinical and numb. It’s a fantastic car by normal measure, does really good mpg, decent carrying capacity etc but it has no sense of fun. I swapped it for a BMW X3 M40i as I couldn’t find a great deal on the 340i touring and it’s immeasurably more involving, more fun etc to drive. Even if I get 1/2 the mpg.
Carbuyers just don't understand how good this car is so Volvo decided to discontinue their stationwagons in 2024. Get it while you can, soon you only have the options of getting an SUV
I just wish there were more *affordable* quality wagons for those of us that want space but don't want an SUV. I owned a Volvo when I was younger and foolish, and repair costs were eye opening and wallet emptying. VW can be brilliant or a nightmare to own. Mazda6 is well overdue for a refresh.
The reason people by estates, or Wagons as you call it: they have more boot space than an equivalent SUV and have better handling and are usually lighter with better economy than SUVs.
Car looks great. Unfortunately - lots of information out there on quality control issues with Volvo cars - particularly in models from 2021 and later. Check out Edmunds - specifically feedback from owners themselves. Really bad.
Nice video. Let's talk about the HUGE miss from Volvo on ALL new 2023 models. The gauge cluster is a HUGE disappointment. Either "maps" or "blank"??!!??!! Really?? When I owned my 2020 XC60, I could have maps, radio, etc. Plus, with the modes, the gauges would change colors. Also, had the ability to customize the colors in the gauge cluster. All that is gone now!! Come on Volvo, please please please bring it back. It's totally possible with an over the air update. Otherwise, I really like my 2023 XC60 B5 dark theme
@@donmoore7785 ... totally get it. But, it's a digital gauge cluster. So, it's all about choices. If you want gauges, then that's all you have selected in the config. If others want more options, then more options it is. With digital, it just gives the ability to customize.
Couldn't agree more, it's digital Volvo could do a bunch of cool things, made functions adaptable not using main touchscreen taking focus from driving. Biggest miss for me that it's to many clicks on screen changing driving modes Volvo come on 🤦♂️ written this to them...
Limited to 183 km.... yeaaaah... good luck.... They are just right lane hoggers who think they are fast... I totally dig the design and I 100% agree these look amazing and you are absolutely right on the V90 styling it just look gorgeous but that can not change the fact that they are slow cars...
They reach over 260km/h if you remove the limiter. Many companies do that, Heico for example. But really, no one except possibly people regularly commuting on the autobahn in german would ever need more than 180 km/h.
I would argue that the V60 is a better looking car than the V90. I would really like to have a V60, but Volvo also have had quality issues of late, and I hope they are getting better.

I would spend that money on prob on a m340i touring. I prefer the BMW look more. They cost the same, perform the same, but the volvo has the hybrid tech and better fuel econ by a long shot. I feel the m340 would be more fun and more track capable car for the price.
I am very interested in this car and if it was $7 g less would have already ordered. But I really love my 2017 V90cc ice that, while aging, is running well and has fairly low mileage. This vehicle has fewer options than my V90cc which parks (and unparks) itself after finding a space and has both Android auto and Apple car play. It is the plug-in hybrid feature that really draws me to the V60 Polestar Engineered. Volvo's mild hybrids don't offer any mpg over what I currently get.
I owned two plugin-hybrids. First Volvo XC40 and then 5:39 Skoda Octavia RSiV. The Skoda had ok power i pure-mode (140hp) but the Volvos 80hp was terrible. The problem I see it is that a plugin is only good on paper. Because you ALWAYS wonna run in pure-mode. Because thats almost free. So goin to work, shopping etc is almost always in the slow pure-mode. The power is simply to low in pure-mode. This is something that motorjournalists almost never talk about. A pure electric car or good old fashion for me thank u.
Biggest mistake you can make is a drive plugin hybrid in electric mode all the time. Why? Because the engine needs to warm up so the oil will flow. If the oil wont flow the engine will start to rust. Just get some cheap electric car if you want to drive in all electric. Plugin hybrids are not meant for that. I barely ever drive full electric because of this fact. It is a petrol car with electric capability, not an electric car. I usually even lock the battery usage just to make sure I get the engine warm as regular basics. Also it makes the car fun because hybrid 2L takes ages to warm up and cold engine= low performance and it also in a long run will hurt the engine if you rev it to the max when it is not even warm.

I think I'm going to finally order the 2024. It is kind of disappointing that the US model is still not getting the 6.4kW Onboard Charger that the rest of the world appears to be getting. Canada is getting the updated OBC. I guess it is a US housing electrical code safety thing.
I have a 2015 v60 t6 rdesign. It's pretty fast but this must be a monster. I wish it came in more colours though and I cant stand touchscreens in a vehicle. Give me buttons or give me death (likely by distraction). My biggest issue with our car is poor paint quality leading to some rust developing. I have a 08 toyota yaris that I use as a winter beater that despite the abuse is pretty much pristine still so there is no excuse for this considering how well I treat the volvo.

Wdym by that kind of comfort volvo beats mercedes and bmw both in comfort and driving but the power in this volvo doesnt match the speed but its still quick same as the m330i
one thing i hate is all the horrid glossy plastics on the dashboard. i dont know why car manufacturers do this now, it looks awful from the factory and even worse after just a few years when its all scratched and faded
I wished there was an electric only version of this because I don't like hybrids. Would go for this one but as things stand I'm choosing the Polestar 2.
I quite the looks, but I can't get over the design of the rearmost side windows. The bottom line just doesn't follow any other line on the car and it drives me nuts.
Coolest design yes but tiny interior space which defeats the point of a wagon, Volvo has not been without its issues in the last few years. I'd pass on this one and get a MB wagon any day.
It's tragic to watch what the Volvo and Polestar badges have become after being bought by Geely. And that's even taking into consideration what Ford did to them.
Can you comment on how comfortable the ride can be? My 2015 XC60 and 2018 S60 are extremely firm and carry lots of vibration from the concrete roads here in Texas. I test drive an Outback and loved the forgiving ride. But I would rather stay with Volvo as a brand.
They are VERY smooth, much mitt than the old platform. I used to work as a testdriver for Volvo, and the smoothness between the old and the new platform are night and day. The new cars are genuinely amazing.
You probably want to stick with the Outback. Or - the Audi A4 it has a much more forgiving ride. I test drove that the same day as the V60 Polestar and the ride was WAY different between the two. But, there was body roll for sure that came with the A4.
Great car… I had also the V90! But the suspension adjustable under the hood is a no go for me… I much prefer the air ride suspension (that I have on my Volvo)
I REALLY wish Audi would bring the S4 Avant to the US. Having already been an Audi owner many times over, I was floored at what an outstanding wagon it was when I drove it in Europe.
I feel the same. I started off with S5 Sportback, but I really want a wagon. S4 Avant or A6 Avant would be ideal. Now, I comparing the V60 vs A6 Allroad. I think Audi has the better luxury and tech, but the PHEV is hard to past up. Too bad we don't have more wagons to choose from. I hate paying for the full paint on the Allroad to hide the cladding (I don't want in the first place) and I'm a bit concern about maintenance later on with the air suspension.
I own an older generation volvo with 5 cyl. engine and I wouldn't buy this. I hate what they did with infotainment and how distracting climate control is. I don't like the shifter knob and the fact that for some reason they decided to remove park position and make it a button. I don't like piano black finish because it just looks cheap and dirty all the time. In 8:19 you can see fingerprints, even though the car was surely cleaned before the video was made. Also, I just wouldn't pay more for a hybrid which adds to the weight of the car and makes you worry if the battery won't catch fire in the garage one day. I wish they gave you the option to buy a renewed previous generation of 2,5L T5 engine with the old big shifter and manual parking brake. The only things I like in this over the older version is the exterior, wheel and dash display.
Great body shape and design. But these cars won't last much at all. All turbos die quite early and by that time replacing the turbo costs as much as the car. Not to mention the battery parts. Luckily Japanese still make non-turbocharged regular engines that will outlast all these European emission-reduction-bs vehicles.
I don't get the hate against wagons. You have eyes, you can see it's way lower, sleeker and more streamlined than any ghastly SUV. Buying an SUV shows that you neither care about style, driving enjoyment, the environment, economy or practicality. All it shows is an inability to make decisions.
