What an insanely inspiring idea. I think that many producers would be reluctant to reveal this sort of production trick. Sharing is caring, spreading ideas and knowledge. Awesome tut!
@@highestsettings Yep i agree with you there. This video is about avoiding the things that people need to do in order to grow. It is literally pseudo creativity, or being anti creative etc, lol. This video is borderline destructive :D This type of video just tells me, that there are a lot of people who will never start that actual journey in music. RU-vid cannot teach you how to create, no one can literally think for you. Im so glad being a bit older and what some would call old school. If i would have to depend on youtube for my creativity, i would know im nothing but a mental slave. All the music producers, composers, mixers, genuine inventors in the house say W0000000000000!! I know u out there!!!! Up the irons! Live your life, makes music that you stand behind till you die, lets do this baby!!!
@@MeAndTheBoys_ Tbf I learned everything I know from RU-vid. RU-vid is a fantastic learning tool. Just when you're using to learn how to avoid learning you're probably not gonna get that far. There are good reasons for doing something like this (like when you're freelance with a tight deadline and an empty bank account) but making drum fills is really fun. If you're composing your own music for yourself, I don't get why you'd want to leave it to a random number generator.
Duuuuude... I’m not primarily an EDM artist, but I write a lot for big clients YT videos, and when you combine visuals with the music, these drops are PARAMOUNT. You just saved me so much time with this. Sometimes turnaround expectation is only an hour or so, and this technique is priceless to me. Your tips have helped me so freaking much. THANK YOU!
Been using this technique for a while now with Ultrabeat and it's honestly one of the greatest ways to create fills. Definitely more possibilities with the EX24, but both work. Keep up the great content, one of the best channels for any producer!
A little trick I learned from another video by Cymatics was to automate the arp-speed too. This way you can have like 4 hits in 16th and 2 hits in 8ths if you know what I mean. I suppose you can do it in Logic too, just as you can in Ableton.
Crazy. I did this stuff way back in the day on a reel to reel w/ Ensoniq EPS & a MPC-60 1988'. Took way longer but the ideas where there. Still love all this creativity. Keep it going.
Great vid Z! I was just playing around with this kind of procedural beat creation the other day. Its great for toppers, percussion and hihats as well. Or even for your kick snare if you want to get really kind of idm/tech with your groove.
First time I've seen your channel, & well done. I think that your advice is good, & even better is that your sharing production ideas, solutions, etc. to the masses. 9 out of 10 producers, (I'm assuming you are) keep ideas, tricks to help with production, whatever it is that helps, to themselves, & are on the opposite tip then yourself, who is blessings others by sharing your knowledge. GL, & I applaud you for that. Peace into 2020 & beyond.
I follow along with your sound design videos with a free open sourced synth I found and I can almost replicate the exact same sound, it goes to show that you don't need expensive software to make cool sounds.
I do this in studio one. I run multiple takes to layers and then comp out the best hits from each take. You can create multiple fills very easily this way and by comping each hit or beat you don't have to throw away a whole take just because you might not like a couple of the hits. Cool video!
I've been using that trick for years in FL Studio using the CHOP function/creating different rhythms/random arpeggios on long single notes in the piano-roll for 1 bar. Awesome trick for drums fills, synth sounds and basslines too! Creating random music is a smart tool to have in your producing arsenal/weapons of choice 👍👍😂
An easier way to bounce out the resuts of the randomization is using the free AudioCr Midi Freeze plugin. Will capture whatever midi is being played into a clip you can paste. Great for using the randomiser in the arpegiattor and having an editable clip afterwards.
@@user-wg7eg3ir7k Okay, but if you want to jumble the midi around, why not just program it in the first place? The whole point of this is random fills.
@@highestsettings The difference is "random for every song" and "random every time you play a song", maybe you just need it as inspiration for a fill, record 20 version to midi clips, do a shoot-out, keep the one you like best, and do a bit of midi editing before settle for it.
