When they say 14 laws + 40 later I think they mean that there are 14 categories and each of those has a coople issues. So the amount of customization of details part of the kingdom should be massive

EUIV and Stellaris are the final games I will ever buy from Paradox. The only hype I get from EUV is that there will be no more DLCs coming out for EUIV, which means I will finally have a complete game after getting the DLCs I'm still missing (and only at a steep discount). I think Paradox's business model may turn on itself over time. How many times can they pull off this "endless stream of DLCs to pad out an incomplete base game" strategy before the shills and pay pigs finally give up?

I think it will be good to go from the very beginning. EU4 is like a golden child of paradox so ithink they won't leave even a single effort to make their next 'EU' even better than the previous one.

I’m ok with the DLCs, but they should be like $5 cheaper for Hoi4 DLCs and $10 cheaper for the main Vicky 3 DLCs because $30 is too much.

I like the newspapers being literate. One of my complaints about Vicky 2 was that the USA had a low literacy rate, whereas historically it had a higher rate of literacy than most developed European countries at the time. Thanks in part to the Protestant culture (moms taught their kids to read the family bible) and the popularity of newspapers.

While it took a bit longer to be fully codified, Henry VIII did make himself [and thus future kings] the head of the Anglican Protestant Church. As such, it was eventually written into UK law that the monarch cannot be Catholic. Many Muslim rulers have the title of Caliph, which is a similar situation, where the Head of State is also a Church leader.

There's also France, where part of the reason during the French war of Religion was because Henry IV, who was the 1st in the line, was protestant and after he converted to catholicism, it became established that the king must be catholic (although formerly being protestant wouldn't exclude from sucession like being catholic does in the UK)

The heir religion law is probably based off of a real law that affects the British succession which still prohibits Catholics from becoming Monarch (although for around a decade now, you're no longer disinherited if you marry a Catholic).

@@KingNothing330 but I don't think this specifically would change much, like I remember France and East Francia starting with male preference in 867 and confederate partition, but I don't think keeping confederate partition while changing to male only would change that much in terms of realm splitting and that kind of stuff

I believe the difference between common law and civil law should play a huge role in the mechanics since the split between the two can still be felt to this day. And has its roots in diffent cultures and histories. Common law stemmed from the writ system in england and result in a very diffrent Legislative than the Continental system which used civil derived from the law that romans used. Furthermore during this time period a lot of regions also applied parallel to theses systems customary law which was the prominent rule of law in the middle ages. Also this split only existed in Europe legal systems outside of europe used way diffrent judiciary systems for examples in muslim countries shari'a law was prominent. Oversimplifying this might loose out on a lot of immersion and interesting mechanics that could differentiate the diffrent regions drastically and would lead to a lot of replay value

most of Europe should have parliaments at this time. lots of parliaments existed in various forms in Portugal, Castile, Aragon, France, Poland etc. they were just largely abolished as time went by due to the fact that they tended to frustrate good governance.

don't. Pay is shit, jobs are few, don't waste your time. Study something that makes money. If you like history you're above the average joe and have some brain power. Use that to get rich and live a good life, study history on your own time, don't make it a career bro.

I'm glad that's true In EU4, basically you pick a favourite, and it's over. Favourite becomes Padishah, and any rebellions by Favourite's brothers/half brothers are extremely rare, and always easily put down. In reality, Ottoman succession civil wars were always bloody affairs

I'm afraid those policies will be click once at the beginning and forget, or swap once once tech 15 or smth like that pretty much making admin efficiency obsolete. I really hope that those +0.10 will be crucial enough that running a policy for longer time will be devastating (or at least synergise with some other aspect (rebelious nobles if country is free for too long etc.)) . If swapping is more punishing than leaving them in not optimal state then those policies will not really see any action.

Remember when people were capable of pattern recognition and drawing appropriate conclusions from the recognized patterns? I mean, have you been paying attention to Paradox's business model? If yes, then surely you must understand where people's worries are coming from. No matter how complete the base game may be, it is not a stretch of the imagination to conclude this game will have countless DLCs attached to it that will add things to the game which should have been a part of the base game. I have indulged in Europa Universalis IV and Stellaris. But it ends there. Besides DLCs for these two games Paradox will not receive any more of my money.

@@Satyr42 DLC has always been about adding content to a base game, regardless of game and regardless of developer. Just because a DLC introduces a new mechanic doesn't mean that the mechanic in question was SUPPOSED to be there from the start. EU4 at release was the base game, the game now is EU4+++++ a.k.a a bigger game than any developer could ever dream of creating from scratch (10 years ago). You lack the fundamental understanding that what Paradox is doing is adding to an already finished game, not padding the dev cycle in order to reach a finished game.

Higher literacy will mean more uppity among your subjects, so there is an incentive to censor... at least to an extend. As for not picking certain laws, I am sure Paradox will force you to start with these and make it nigh impossible to change them - like in any other of their games.
