Real Estate listings in the Cornwall Park Neighborhood: www.buyermax.c...
Located in the northern half of Bellingham, just southwest of Interstate 5 is the Cornwall Park Neighborhood. Some of the main thoroughfares running through the neighborhood are Alabama St, James St, Cornwall Ave, Sunset Dr., and Meridian St.
Most of the neighborhood is comprised of single-family residential areas, ranging from medium to high density. Part of what gives the Cornwall Park neighborhood its character are the large open lawns afforded to many of the older homes found here. The Roeder Home, a historic building in the neighborhood, exemplifies the feel of this residential area. This gives the neighborhood a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
The second-largest feature which makes the Cornwall Park neighborhood unique is its public recreational spaces. Cornwall Memorial Park is a large wooded area which provides the opportunity for many recreational activities. It’s 70 acres are filled with 1.5 miles of trails, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, large fields, pickleball courts, a seasonal spray park, and Bellingham’s only 9 hole frisbee golf course. The park also contains the Sylvia Grace Magnolia Collection which began as a single donation of over 80 magnolia trees of 53 different varieties. Broadway Park, which is located in one of the residential areas in the neighborhood, contains more open lawns adding to the overall feel of the neighborhood. Another notable open area is the Cornwall Rose Garden, located just south of Cornwall memorial park.
A fair amount of the neighborhood is dedicated to commercial and industrial use. The largest of these buildings is the St. Joseph’s Hospital, which serves all of Bellingham and Whatcom county. Other commercial districts can be found north of Cornwall Memorial Park, and in the Fountain Village Urban District just off of Meridian St.
With its great location allowing convenient access to the rest of Bellingham, large recreational spaces, and pleasant and spacious feel, the Cornwall Park Neighborhood remains a valued residential area.
