In our last video we looked at the rods and pistons used in our 5.0 and 5.2-litre V10 engine builds. This time we explain how we build our cylinder heads, including details on the valve train.

Always wanted to build engines....got distracted by other areas of motor industry. Tip top content. So pleasing to see someone happy to explain their passion.

Bit late to the show but slowly working my way thru your videos. I'm an engineer by trade & bike rider, I'm fascinated by your tech stuff & really geeking out on the tools. So many questions, so little time. Would really love a look round, not at engines per say but tooling etc 👍

My Toyota engine I built has valve keepers (locks) that are titanium and are dlc coated fit in tool steel retainers... what a dream it would be to have the tool you have

Absolutely brilliant once again RE Performance! Personally I think the McLaren MP4-20 was the best sounding engine in F1 history so all your V10 content has been infinitely fascinating- Thank you!

Massive knowledge here impressive. A friend of mine is having the v10 in a s6. Intermittent Smoky car at idle speed on right side exhaust. Compression rate are all goods 5 cylinder, got it out and changed all seal ring on valves but still smokes time to time and sometimes huge smoke (up to getting ticket by police!). Did you experience this already on that engine? Next step is valves guides? Any idea would be great ;-)

Loving these videos, but please send your cameraperson on a course, they can’t pull focus on anything, it really detracts from your knowledge when we can’t see what your trying to show.

Ricky love your videos! I am in the states and builders here are not as informative as you are! 2015 Huracan with full Dodson dl800, twin GTX35 82. Made ~1580 awhp and decided to make more plus winter time here. Doing rods pistons studs valves spring, vales etc. I have an assortment of King XP bearings and looking for clearances that you would recommend for 1800 2000 build. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Fascinating stuff. But I wish you would use a better camera and keep it in focus more of the time.

Great video, love the tooling! I've fought those valve collets in many a time, with the blob of grease on the screwdriver. Do you still need to lap valves in or are the seats and faces machined for a perfect fit?
@REPerformanceUK
@REPerformanceUK 2 года назад
Yeah we cut the seats then vacuum test the seal, if it’s not perfect then we would give them a little lap to help but it’s not often. That’s normally required on super heard seats when the cutter has had a hard time.

For 16 valve engines the old scool tools were ok-ish... For up to 48 valve ones or more,.. it'd take a while.. 😬

Looking at s6 recently with the v10 but they have different rods and heads I think it has 100 less hp and ect but i was thinking basicly a dream car r8 in a sedan body major sleeper anyway found alto fo em for under 15 I found one for 8 and like yea the miles are alot but I heard there well built and with the money I'd save I can out to maintenance which I domt mind if it slots like no shit its gunna be more then a civic but any engine tht is well built and out together is gunna be expensive but it's the awd i want the most looking at the sea and other turbo cars but the v10 sounds awesome and just the look and shit and the interior looks good to but like with some extra money I could get some custom parts made and other stuff I also seen you could out desto elements billet peice in it to and like I want to na it as long as possible and get it as high as possible and stable and then sc or turbo it and theres been alot of stuff since then but I cant find any made parts for sale which is killing me but logic says blue prints and other stuff have probably been made and improved majorly since when they came out and I'd put a good chunk away for like 30 k I want everything redone basicly carbon clean and then get it taken apart polished and bored honed ect sleeves light weight high grade aluminium or somthing for higher rpm ect polished cams or somthing bigger head and throttle body and like logic is for most high hp cars big throttle body and then get the inside bored and widened as well and a fat 3 inch or 4inch intake and better headers and exhaust and better intercooler and maby get it ready for meth or somthign I live in canada so I dotn know if it will get effected in the winter and I dotm know what else I'm just thinking for parts to save for becuz I'd want to get most of it done maby get the trans rebuilt abit better flywheel carbon drive shafts and all tht other goodies
