Lava buckets are actually useful. You can place them while your opponent is rushing at you and then he begins to burn after that you can put the lava in the bucket and your opponent will slowly lose heart after heart

1:02 thats extremely common in alot of gamemodes, having 1 fireaspect sword and 1 sword just for damage

When I was like 6, I always thought that someone drew a line in my book. For some reason I could never erase it, no matter how hard I tried. It took me a while to figure out that it was the line from a fishing pole and it was in fact, part of the book.

Yes, I do regularly use 2 swords; one with sharpness, the other with fire aspect and looting 3, but only on survival servers where I work specifically to that. Today's PVP is just minigames. A spare set of armor is a common practice found on factions servers. The move with the fishing rod is probably in the book because it is a hint for a hidden achievement in 1.7 that requires to bring a ghast to the overworld and kill it there.

Another version made by "The Chief" was released sometime after 1.9, and covers more unorthodox combat methods, like Ender Pearl trickery and Fishing Rod usage, but "The Chief's" book is more suited to a Factions environment, rather than the Combat Guide's general combat. As well as this, the traps in "The Chief's" book are geared towards raid defence, and a brief look at mob defence. I think that book does a better job at more diverse strategies, as the ones presented in The Combat Handbook are very niche and impractical - dispensers require a good amount of setup beforehand, and TNT is only really good as a spacing tool, which both Lava and Fire are better at. As well as this, TNT is way more destructive, as fire tends to be easily put out, and Lava can be simply scooped up after the fight. The Combat Guide does a better job on general combat-gear knowledge and PVE, never really diving in to PVP, while "The Chief's" book dives deeper into PVP scenarios in a Factions environment, and general Factions bases. I will mention here that a Power 5 Bow can one-shot Ghasts, and that reflecting the fireballs is actually rather challenging. I really do think the book should've mentioned how Ghast fireballs one-shot Ghasts if reflected. I also find TNT Cannons to not be very effective at dealing damage out in the open - due to the set-up and inflexible arcs, but might be good as tools for base raids, as they can effectively blow up areas way above you if you set them up right. As you've shown, the door trap isn't super effective as it can be bypassed fairly easily due to Minecraft jank, and piston lag. It would work better if you took out the door, though. Another thing is that Fire Protection armour really lessons lava damage, and using water, it shouldn't be too hard to escape the trap. Lava and a long fall can deal fall damage, methinks, and burn you. It's was kinda dumb of you to not bring a pickaxe - even outside of trap avoidance, they could simply mine through the base. I'm also somewhat surprised they didn't show secret entrances using flush piston doors, as it would make the door trap alot less detectable, given it's the only entrance. As well as this, TNT can blow up a different path through the place. I also want to mention that there are far better weapons to put in a dispenser than arrows - fire charges travel in a straight line, lava can cover, TNT can blow up people (and having it everywhere can make it really tough to avoid), Splash/Lingering potions have more range, and are more predictable. In 1.9, you could even fire something at an End Crystal to blow them up. As well as this, putting it on a Redstone clock is far better as there are constant arrows - if the 1st bout misses, there are thousands more to come. It is alright for mob defence, especially if you have a fletcher or way to many feathers and flint. As I stated earlier, the Combat Handbook's biggest weakness is not teaching the reader PVP skills and mix-ups, which "The Chief's" did.

This is a great video! You did a good demonstration over the book. For 1.7 and 1.8 combat is essentially the same. The difference is the animations here. There are many mods and clients (I use Lunar) to bring back the old animations. Block hitting and bows work the exact same as they did in 1.7. Fishing rods do work in 1.7 and have always been, however, that’s a plugin to the server and not a default normal feature. I personally use UHC packs for they have everything, from low fire to highlighted ores. And I have toggle sprint, so every time I hit, I go right back to sprinting (holding sprint button works too). Hopefully this clears some things up!
