Beginner here: 2 struggles. 1. Placement of design to burn. Left chest print and regular back and front design. And 2: pressure on squeegee when printing.

Just always try to keep it the same for all jobs. I use reg marks at top/bottom. I always center art in corel draw. I mark all screens 5' down from both sides and burn it there from where the print will start. I hardly ever have to adjust the platens on my manual or automatic.

I have lots of experience printing and I have 2 suggestions but also would like to learn from you specifically regarding white ink (your video on white ink was great btw) so maybe I can ask you after these two tips: 1. Get a drill and simple/easy to clean bit to stir those white inks instead of by hand (until we can all afford a revolvink product). Much less tiring! 2. Use glue adhesive or something else other than aerosol to tack down shirts to the platen. I used to use the spray as well but not only is glue much cheaper but it’s much less messy and better for your health. There’s really no downside I’ve found. Takes a bit to get the hang of but once you do you won’t go back. Trust me! You might do web spray sometimes for hoodies but most of the time I don’t. God bless and thanks for sharing your incredible talents.

Hello, I am a beginner and I have some questions that I am spending a lot of time with. 1.- I use glue for the plate but when using the dryer the glue fuses (if I can put it that way) with the ink since when you lift the shirt it stays stuck to the shirt and on the plate the ink is still there as if it were They would have mixed, I use a hair dryer and that doesn't happen, what could it be? 2.- I want to make a design with many details but also letters that come out clear but when I apply pressure with the squeegee the design overflows and loses details (I use 200 and 110 mesh and the same thing happens) I try to give it a height of 1/8 but I don't know what's going on, help please :(
@scotlandskysurf8948
@scotlandskysurf8948 22 дня назад
@@BrayanC_C. 1. Watch Golden Press Studio's glue video which covers most things and should answer questions unless I'm able to answer it below. When you apply the glue to the platen you have to flash (or use your hair dryer if you don't have one) to dry it and then you can load the shirts on. 2. There are lots of factors that go into achieving a clean print so here's a few questions to get you started. -Are your screens tight with proper tension? -Are your screens coated too thick? -Did you dry your coated screens properly with shirt side facing down (dried the same way it looks on press)? -Can you split up your design into 2 screens (1 for the more detailed section on a higher mesh and one for the less detailed on a lower mesh)? Or are you on a single station press? -Is your flood stroke causing issue? Should be light to just cover the image -Are you pushing or pulling the squeegee? Pushing, while easier on the body, tends to create problems for beginners who slam and drive the ink smashing through the screen verses pulling the squeegee toward you-start with more of an upright angle and adjust from there. Avoid "smooshing" and watch a few other pull printers to study their technique. -Is your squeegee nice and sharp? If you're pulling (which I'd recommend), ensure you have a little bit of flex on the blade but not too much. Also use a higher durometer squeegee if needed. -Is your off contact even? If you have too much of a tilt between the front and back of the screen (or side to side) that can cause problems-as long as it's pretty close it should be fine. -Are you measuring the off-contact from the shirt to the screen or the platen to the screen? Do it from the shirt. You want approximately a nickel's thickness between the shirt and the bottom of the screen to start and you can adjust from there...As long as your screen pops off the shirt after you print you'll be good (less is better than too much). And Mylo would probably add, stir, STIR, STIIIRRR your inks!! Hope that helped and I'm sure others can also help if you're still having issues with the print. Keep practicing, don't give up, keep adjusting tactics until you find what works. God bless

@robbynaumann439
@robbynaumann439 10 дней назад
Solid process man! For the end of the video, the Q&A part, something I think can help the process starts with the artwork section, as well as the screen coating section. You mention you cut in (inside stroke) the artwork because of blowout. This is where the screen coating comes into play. 156 is definitely the right call for mesh count. The thing I encourage you to at least mess around with is the coating. Sharp side of the coater definitely, BUT less coats. More coats = more ink deposit and higher chance of blowout (in my experience). So try and coat 1 on each side. That helps with ink deposit, and keeps the plastisol thinner on the shirt which is always good. Another factor at play is the squeegee durometer. I don't recall this being mentioned, but it could have been. Anyway, the standard duro seems to be 70, but I've found that to be a bit soft. A mix duro like a 70/90/70 can be a game changer. You still get the softer edge of the 70, but the blade has a slab of 90 duro in the middle so it keep the blade stiffer, resulting is less deposit and sharper prints. An 80 is also a good choice, but is significantly stiffer and I find that much more tiring over time on longer runs. It's a lot harder to print, but it can really MAKE the print depending on that it is. Especially messing with high detailed designs on a 156/200 mesh the 80 duro squeegee can just keep those so much cleaner because of the sharp edge. Solid video man, keep it up. Hopefully some of what I said makes sense and can help some people out there.

Hola Mylo! So I got the Xtool screen print basic. So for me getting the color sep & reg setup is my current learns & remember! I am trying to land a food truck box job because I also have 10/40w lasers, I can make the boxes with, & now print the logos. I tried to laser it, then color fill. Big time killer on 500 + box order! So a big reason for the xtool trial. Was a better buy vs standard single station for 400.00+. I'm sure I'll need to upgrade to 4+ system that, but for getting started. Thanks for taking time to teach & share what you know! Mucho Gracias!

Beginner screen printer here. I love this medium and am so happy to be jumping in. I have both a speedball silk screen kit and the new xtool screen printing kit. With both, I am having issues with properly flooding the screens and applying pressure. I'll get one or two good passes sometimes. Then I'll have issues where I'm blowing out the design with too much ink or not enough ink coming through.
@chankarchandra
@chankarchandra 4 месяца назад
Are you applying pressure on your flood stroke? If you are then you may be pushing ink through the screen and when it gets set on the garment for your print stroke you will just squish all that ink onto the garment. How liquid is your ink? To runny and you may kill your design and to thick it won't push through nicely. Great thing about not enough is you can hit it again lightly to try and get a better impression.
@monikanimated
@monikanimated 4 месяца назад
@@chankarchandra Thank you so much for your insight. You know, I think I might be applying pressure to the flood. I never thought of that. I feel like my ink flow is pretty good. But also, I'm not sure. I am using water based ink, which I've learned is more challenging to start with. It has been very cold where I live and my set up is in my garage. I was thinking that might be impacting my ink flow. *shrug* It's been a few weeks since I've practice (because of the weather). But I am itching to get back out there to practice.

it's not a big difference, but you just have to hit that single pass pretty perfect. The less layers of emulsion you have should decrease the exposure time depending on your exposure.

I'm currently watching one about the registration marks. The thing is I don't use Photoshop the costs. I use Inkscape and it can do a lot of some of the things that Photoshop does but as for the other things I mentioned I will search for them in the videos. Thank you for responding! I love the content and the positivity that you bring. Stay blessed@@myloprints
