Shave tests are all that matter to me now. If it’s a great shave to you, that’s what really matters. Looking forward and enjoying learning and you sharing your learning with us all. Keep the faith. Honing has high and lows, and you are always learning. Good job Guy
I have been told that when using a new diamond plate , you should lap the stone under running water. This will wash away any of the lose diamonds that may come off during the process and prevent that form embedding in the stone.
I was actually listening to audio feedback of the razor edge gliding across the stone with the slurry in this video. My only experiences with honing is with the Norton 1k/4k/8k and Naniwa 12k, Then ILR Premium finishing. Then I diamond balsa strop from .5 micron to .25 micron, then 0.1 micron. Then I linen and leather strop. From the sounds of the coticule and the razor it sounds like it's in the 5k to 8k range from my experiences. But my 8k Norton glides way smoother than that.
