I read the book and watched several adaptations. The Soviet adaptation with Viktor Avilov as the cunt is the best adaptation. And I say that the film with Jim Caviziel is a ridiculous film. Albert being the Count's son and suddenly becoming father and son. Even if he was his biological son, Albert was much more likely to become the Count's enemy than Brutus was to Julius Caesar, despite everything Caesar did for him.

@roman1183
@roman1183 12 дней назад
The 2002 version is a typical bad American movie. This film will be as bad as the terrible 2002 adaptation. That alliance scene is stupid. Do you think Mercedes presenting the ring to Edmond would have the same effect as Cleopatra, a young princess who was cultured, having to appear rolled up in a carpet to Julius Caesar? The count was a rich and powerful man, he would have a young lover just like Julius Caesar had Cleopatra. And the duels. How stupid. The trap that Edmond set for Dnglars and Fernand would never work, it would be more likely that he would go after him like Marcus Antonius after Julius Caesar's assassins. And they wouldn't be individual duels, there were possibly other people involved as well when Mark Antony went after Cassius and Brutus. That fanfic written by the stupid Jay Wolpert would never be the best adaptation of the book. The film only shows the low repertoire of the American screenwriters.

The traps and revenge scenes are so obvious that they are comical. Cassius and Brutus fled Rome after Caesra's death and had to be chased by Mark Antony to Greece where they were defeated in battle and committed suicide. Do you think French high society would go to a stranger's party? The party scene was a joke. When Cleopatra went to Greece and had a party on a boat, Mark Antony didn't go to a stranger's party, she went to the Queen of Egypt's party The wedding ring scene is so ridiculous it's laughable. Do you think the count's ex-fiancée would have the power of seduction that the young queen Cleopatra had when she got off the carpet and seduced Julius Caesar? The count would have a young lover just like Julius Caesar had Cleopatra. And liking this mediocre film won't make it a classic. Any careful analysis reveals the mediocrity of the film.

The film with Jim Caviziel is the typical bad American film. American cinema is repelled by low-level and intellectual screenwriters. And this file seems to want to compete with the terrible film with Jim Caviziel to see which is the worst adaptation of the book. The lack of reading of classics and history among American writers leads them to write low-quality stories. Meidocre Jay Wolpert's stupid idea of introducing duels into the story. When Mark Antony went to avenge Julius Caesar's death, he did not duel with Julius Caesar's killers, just as Julius Caesar did not duel with the pirates who kidnapped him when he sought revenge. Only in stupid films like the weak Gladiator have duels. In the relative story of Gladiator, Emperor Commodus did not die in a duel. And what nonsense making a rich and powerful man like Edmond go back to his ex-fiancée. When in real life he would have a young and beautiful lover like Julius Caesar had Cleopatra. The film with Jim Caviziel is so bad that it shows the low level of quality of American screenwriters who write rubbish like Pirates of the Caribbean, Troy.

@dclark142002
@dclark142002 18 дней назад
If you thought the Caviezel movie was flawless, you really need to read the book. The story is an order of magnitude more awesome and epic than even that great movie. It really needs a whole TV miniseries to be portrayed well. The four villains (jealous colleague, drunkard friend of the family, jilted ex-boyfriend, and corrupt prosecutor) do more than just ruin Dantes life. They continue to be villains during all the time Dantes is in the Chateau D'If. When Dantes returns as the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo...he is on a mission to reward those who did good, restore those who had been victimized by the villains, and punish the guilty. The story arcs of Benedetto, Haidee, Albert, Eugenie and Louise, Valentine, Heloise, Maximilien, etc. etc. are astonishing in and of themselves...and their stories of evil or victimization and the interaction with Dantes revenge is tight and excellently paced. The revelations are epic and the evils done actually outstrip those done to Dantes. The first evil is basically just an hors d'oeuvres compared to what has been done to others. Plus, the overarching theme (what to do when evil is done to you) is really well fleshed out. You start the novel horrified at Dantes naivety and the ruthlessness of his 'friends'...by the time he escapes and finds out how deep the villainy has gone, you are all in on the 'revenge is good, everyone must pay' mentality. But by chapter 89 or so, you start to become sick and horrified yourself at just how far Dantes will go with his revenge. By the end, Dantes will pass through further stages of response on his path to finding a healthy place...both for himself, and the rest of the characters in the novel. I really, REALLY recommend reading the whole book.

I understand poor Dantes trying to take revenge on the people who betrayed him. But with the wealth he had, he could have found a new woman to love. It's not just that. The film has two screenwriters who are also the directors, Alexandre de La Patellière, Matthieu Delaporte. And Alexandre de La Patellière's father, Denys de La Patellière, was the director of the miniseries Le comte de Monte Criso (1979) with Jacques Weber. This is a faithful adaptation of the book, without any changes. And Alexandre de La Patellière is the best adaptation of the book. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b1eMRVrncjA.html

A rich and powerful man like the count would have a beautiful young lover. The film Julius Caesar (2002) with Jeremy Sisto and Richard Harris playing the dictator Sulla shows this. Caesar despite being married to Calpurnia, he had an affair with Cleopatra who was played by Samuela Sardo. In practice, the film's romantic cliché doesn't work. In the book the count never returns to Mercedes, he already has a young lover.

Most of the screenwriters never understood the book.The Count of Monte Cristo is not an adventure story, it is a suspense story. The Count is not Zorro or Batman, he is much more like Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov from Dostoevsky's book Crime and Punishment. The Count has the theory that he is an envoy of divine providence and that he comes to punish criminals who have escaped justice and Raskonilkov developed the theory of the great man and that he would be free to transgress the laws for the common good. Both develop theories that place them above the laws. The count wanted to punish those responsible for him staying at Château D'if for 13 years and Raskonilkov wanted to steal money from a user to help his family. Both created theories to justify their actions. Raskonilkov murders the loan shark, Aliona Ivanovna to steal her money, he ends up murdering Elisabeth Ivanovna, Aliona's half-sister, because she witnessed the crime.Edmond, when carrying out his revenge against the prosecutor Gerard de Villefort, caused the death of his young son, Edouard. The death of these two innocent people made the protagonists feel remorse for their actions. Raskonilkov surrenders himself to the police and confesses his crime . The Count of Monte Cristo forgives Danglars to get relief for his conscience. The count abandons his theory about being an agent of divine providence and Raskonilkov abandons his theory of the great man. People cannot transgress the laws to do what they think is right, because the results will always be disastrous.
