My grandparents were an interracial couple who married in 1945 in Virginia. My grandfather chose to pass for a light-skinned Black man in order to marry my grandmother.
The ignorance and utter stupidity of past laws in this country is truly apalling. In the deep south there was a lot of segregation during the day and a whole lot of integration during the night!!😅
I loved this movie. I'm very grateful to The Loving's because they went above and beyond for each other and respected their marriage vows. They made away for me and all the other interracial couples in the USA to live free and equal like our country's creed states.❤❤
My grandparents were an interracial couple and married in Virginia in 1945. Instead of going to court like the Lovings did, my grandfather chose to pass as a light-skinned Black man. Wish I'd thought to write about them while working on my journalism degree decades ago.
@@scribe712 You can still write about them. That will be a beautiful love story. Family stories are very unique to American History. Think about Alex Haley's Roots and Queen. ❤🖤🌊💯
Omg what a story! Its a shame they had to go through all of that and once they got the freedom to be with each other without looking over their shoulders tragedy struck. At least they got to cherish the time they did have.
@@williethomas9953Not if we vote for Harris. Clarence Thomas should be ashamed of himself for even thinking about going against this law and the Affirmative Action Law.He's a Supreme court justice who is married to a white woman. Affirmative Action helped him get to where he is today. Freaking hypocrisy of it all.
My great great grandmother left Pennsylvania because she was married to a white man. I had my great grandfather but she was afraid of her safety and moved to Florida. Which is where my grandmother was born.
Now they allow it because they know the European women benefit greatly from the African men. And that improve the lives of Europeans. I love how the Europeans are always one step ahead.
I heard someone say that this is (Confusion?)🧐 When it comes to dating outside of race.. what you all think? And keeping in mind.. ( when mixing occurs) what about future children asking why they look different and all other questions they may have etc..? (Confusion🤔) doesn't that change the way their race actually looks originally? Lastly.. I also hear that Race\Lineage ONLY FOLLOWS THE FATHER! Is this true? If so this then creates (confusion 🤔) when there is dating outside the race happening?
@@Ira.J712There is only one race, the HUMAN RACE, God created different colors ethnicities but we are still all human beings (a dress can be red or purple and still be a dress ,just because you have a red dress and I have a green dress you wouldn't say" that's a green pair of pants,"! We all start off in life the way God intended ,an egg and sperm, not an egg and sperm for white people and an egg and bacteria for people of color! This business of separating people by color is a weapon of racism and not based on science or God's plan.
The problem doesn't lie with the couple of different colors (both are Human beings created by God via egg and sperm!) the problem lies with racists who take issue with it for their own underlying hateful issues. As far as the children, the children don't have a problem until some racist makes it a problem! My own father was Irish (white, mother) and Dominican (Hispanic with that mixture of Spanish, black and Indigenous) and he was a Catholic; my mom was part Indigenous American Indian and part Black American and a Protestant, neither was something different than a Human BEING and my dad said he never had a problem it was racists people who had the problem with it!
@@kitsmith806 interesting 🤔 So I'll ask you the same question that I asked the previous individual that replied.. (confused 🤔 so why is there differences (inside and outside the Bodies) of each different race?) What you think about this? Because the whole different color dress analogy is comparing apples to oranges so you're not making sense.. And definitely No, no one as well as myself, and I'm assuming you as well? promoting racism not at all.. What I'm sharing is something that I've heard and also what we all tend to see from mainstream media.. And also interesting what you said..( started life as an sperm and egg) precisely that's the point, So..where does our individual race / lineage come from? ( keeping it strictly on the topic from the original post or comment I shared) with that being said " getting back to the point" how does one find out their race / lineage? Is it through the father's or mothers? Lineage And another interesting point you put, ( God's plan) well what was God's plan?🤔 as you put it?
Teehee..God put them in different continents so they don't mix! He didn't read the Bible...with any understanding... that part about not mixing must have went over the heads of the Europeans..
Yet...we see more of the opposite. 🤍 Women and Black 🖤 men. That did not fight for their love (really) across the color lines Still black women are being shot in the face.
