Compassion:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good [women and] men to do nothing."
Abdullahi Abubakar, a Muslim leader in his village in central Nigeria, has proven his greatness to the world, not in through triumphant conquest or dominance, but through his compassion for vulnerable people different than him.
When Muslims from another tribe were attacking nearby villagers, Christians, Imam Abdullahi could have turned and looked the other way, as so many tend to do. Instead, he ushered hundreds of Christians into his mosque and his home to save them from the attackers who bared his same religion.
He then confronted the attackers outside and pleaded with them to spare the Christians until they departed.
Incredible courage, heartfelt compassion.
