I feel this is The Cowsills best songs! I remember living in the Projects of East Harlem, going to St. Francis De Sales Catholic School, and this was a hit on the radio. I also remember, as with The Partridge Family, a comicbook came out about The Cowsills, but it was also a short lived thing. I'm sure both might be worth much money today.

Im a 65year old Hippie and growing up in the 60s was amazing in many ways but for me most of all for the incredible music we had that became the soundtrack of our lives. The Cowsills were so kool, i loved this song and their version of HAIR....these songs made me so happy when i heard them. The Mum deserved a medal for being such a guiding light and the Father worked behind the scenes.....and to think they are STILL performing today is such a joy so im watching whatever i find here...i love the flower girl...oh i dont know just why, ahe simply caught my eye...im still a flower girl 🙏🏼🥰🧡❤💜🌟🌸💐🌺🦋🏵🌹🌼🌷🌺

I used to listen to this song, the rain, the park and another things, in 1968, at that time I had an American friend named Paul, he didn't know Spanish, and I didn't know English either, but our friendship united us until we said goodbye, when he returned to United states, crying, him, my parents, my sister and me. The rain, the park and another things, it is a hymn to the energy of an entire era.

One of my all time favorite songs. As an aging Hippie, I have to ask what happened to get us to where we are today? Am still a Flower Child inside. Was so happy to discover recently that they are still singing today.

Such a wonderful “feel good” melody and lyrical masterpiece. The incredible popular staying power is a testament to it’s quality. There is a redeeming value in yesterday’s music that seems to be lacking today... perhaps I’ll be wrong. Thank you for the great collage of Cowsills ‘journey from 7 active members to today’s surviving 3 here along with the 4th that drums for The Beach Boys(the last I heard) The RU-vid post was great 👍

There are actually 4 surviving siblings. Bob, Paul, and Susan still perform together, while John is drummer for the Beach boys.

I agree. Sounds like life was beyond hell. The monstrous parents are long gone. Barry/Bill and Richard are gone (Richard was the one sibling that the father would not let be in the band). So, there are only four left now. 3 of them play together regularly...and a bit of solo work too I think. And John, the drummer, has played with the Beach Boys for years. About a year ago I saw them on a RU-vid video, and it brought back the 60's to me. I'm 68 now. It was a good time in my life. And I wish today's younger generation had the same joys that we had. The world is changing fast...and I fear where it is going.

According to songwriter and producer Artie Kornfeld, the song was titled “The Flower Girl” when he and his partner Steve Duboff wrote it. But, and this was a common occurrence in the ‘60s and ‘70s, the record company said the name had to be changed. The reason in this case is that there was a new record by another artist with that same title, and they didn’t want confusion hurting sales. So the title had to be changed. Hey, if you are a songwriter, you will recognize that there is no other line in the song to hang a title on. Thus, whimsy, randomness and, I think, a bit of sarcasm resulted in “The Rain, the Park and Other Things”.

So are we REALLY listening to The Wrecking Crew here?????? Were any Cowsills playing on this??????????? (That's a real question. I just learned about The Wrecking Crew and how they were the studio musicians for MANY bands. Often they were the only ones on an album.) If you're curious do a web search for "The Wrecking Crew". Interesting info pops up.

The Cowsills did not play on their earliest recordings. Studio musicians were brought in to provide the music for this song and many of the earlier singles. For this record, the arranger was Jimmy Wisner, musicians included Gene Bianco on harp,[4] Vinnie Bell, Charles Macy and Al Gorgoni on guitar, Joe Macho on bass, Artie Butler on organ, Paul Griffin on piano, George Devens on percussion, and Buddy Saltzman and Al Rogers on drums.

First of all, the harmony is pure Cowsills. On October 29,1967, they sung this on the Ed Sullivan show,, everyone had a part of some song to play, as a Medley The last one to Sing a song Was oldest Brother Billy. in this song, they gave to 11 year old John Cowsill that was the drummer who had an amazing Drum solo he was not there for this Video, their signature. Harmony. For this video, John was missing as he is today the Drummer for the Beach bo. another band that uses Harmony a lot. I suggest you watch the Family Band documentary. These poor Kids Went through Hell under their Father. Who beat them, and stole Their money which took them over a decade to pay back the Bills their Dad left them. Can you imagine that John Started Playing the Drums for them at age 7?

@@MrVato53 They may have not written the Music, but it was the Cosills Who played the instruments, and that Harmony? The only other Band that was noted for this is the beach boys. Their current drummer? John Cowsill.And he still sings harmony. Sometimes he is the lead singer for certain songs for the Beach Boys. Just wish he could shorten his Hair. He still has an invfectious smile
