NEVER heard Lux speak in an interview till recently - Sonds like Jello Biafra/Zappa - VERY intelligent gentleman - Fortunate to have seen The Cramps once in NYC back in the mid-90's
That was brilliant! What was really refreshing to accidentally discover watching these interviews on RU-vid. Is that they collected doo wop. I'm old enough to listen to oldies radio from the 70s which was really the 50s. So I was really obsessed with rock and roll. Because it was that exciting especially doo wop!
Body and soul i always need Rock'n'Roll music, the Cramps traduce and don't forget that feeling for us, the sound, the ambiance and yes a kind of faith now for me, and better than when i was younger and lost, when all around some parties and culture things fakes seems to put down this breathe of fun and romance, and yes it's for everybody so take that chance and thanks i discover so many bands and singers give us this fire alive, i love many styles now but i always come back to Rock'n'Roll, serious ow yezzzz ha ha ha papa ouh meow meow
We're out to be open minded.. We are merely free minded .. they all have some kind of thing they want to market us.. sometimes people call us the monsters of rock.. but true rock n roll is for everyone.. it's the closest thing to pure energy.. 💕
Its August 1986 - the Cramps were in Auckland to play 2 shows at the Galaxy, the end of the Date with Elvis world tour. The shows were issued as the band's 8th album RockinnReelininAucklandNewZealandXXX This interview was for Kiwi rock television show Radio With Pictures.
They take these mundane vague questions and turn them into an opportunity to express the things they want to express. Bet you dollars to donuts they were never invited on a daytime trash show like Springer because they would bring too much intellect and class.
Exactly! At 1:00. Rock & Roll is about sex. It's stupid to say that The Cramps were deliberately out to offend anyone. Today, I've heard young people say that Rock & Roll is "too aggressive". Good Lord! It's supposed to shake you up snowflake!
All shtick... Rock n roll is simpler than he's making it out to be. You "rock" an audience with music, then you load your gear into a car or van and "roll" to the next show. Rinse repeat. Still like The Cramps music though.
